*******disclaimer - I am not a Chris Wilcox hater, but all you people that think Wilcox is an NBA starting center can get off his jock!!!********
I've been hearing a lot of people bad mouth Chris Kaman and Zeljko Rebraca saying that Chris Wilcox, inconsistent, no defense, half-ass playing, all dunks nothing else (oh, and he misses his share of those dunks) Chris Wilcox should be getting the lions share of the minutes at Center. Why? The thing this Clippers team needs more than anything else at center is DEFENSE, not dunks, scoring, but DEFENSE. I mean, look at this team. We got more players that can score than needed. Sam I Am, Cat Mobley, Corey Maggette, and of course Elton Brand. With those 4 alone we should easily get 75 points a game. All we really need from the center position is 8-10 points a game and 7-9 rebounds a game, and of course, DEFENSE. Kaman gives us the most consistent DEFENSE. With Wilcox, if he doesn't get touches on the offensive end, which with this team the center will rarely get the call, he will slack off the next play on DEFENSE. We don't need that. Now I'll admit that Wilcox is the most talented out of the three, but until he can show DEFENSive consistency, he will always be the third option and at best an offensive spark off the bench at center behind Kaman and Rebraca.

Dear sir
how would he prove hes a consistent Defender if he gets 5 god damn minutes a game!. And by the way with that half ass minutes he outplays Kaman in rebounds usually and points.

Here's some stats. They show the team at +10pts / 48 min with Kamen on the floor and -5pts / 48 min with Wilcox. This may be directly related to 1st and 2nd team teammates, but interesting none-the-less.

HOW CAN WILCOX PROVE THAT HE IS A GOOD DEFENDER????? Have you ever heard of practice??? If he's not getting the minutes in games, and he isn't, then he has to step it up in practice. This has been the biggest problem with Chris during his first few seasons in the L. Right now he doesn't have the heart to play big minutes. If a player is stuck in the dog house, he has to work that much harder to get out. That's what the superstar players do, but Chris just cries about it. He should be the first to practice and the last to leave, and he should be talking to coach to see what he needs to work on to get the minutes in games, and then work on those things. He needs to prove that he wants to play, not that he expects to play!!!

I'm not sure what to make out of all the controversy on these two guys. When we ran a poll on the subject, topbuzz fans were equally divided on which one should start. I personally enjoy watching Wilcox playing more than I do the Pillsbury Dough Boy. Proabably because he is more athletic. Also more potential. But it is potential that is so far not fully realized. The good news is while we are figuring this all out, our current team is performing fine with our Centers basically being role players. We do not need them to be dominant. We do need them to at least be adequate and a threat at some level. They are dong that, and they will get better over time. Keep in mind, they are both young guys, 3 year players. JamFan

i like both players....wilcox's dunks kaman's intensity and inside moves. even if kaman doesn't look it, i've read on the website from the summer league and heard from ralph that kaman is actually one of the fastest players on the clippers up and down the court (without the ball ofcourse :) ). but no matter who you like, it's not fair to put down the other player just because you like your player more. it's not kaman's fault wilcox is not playing, it's dunleavy's decision, and obviously he has his reasons. we could debate about this for the rest of the season, but why not enjoy the team getting off to such a great start? we got the lakers tonight. so let's focus our trash talking on them instead :)
