So, let's break into a few categories. First up, let's start with the stars whose contracts expire following the 2009-2010 season and will then become honest-to-goodness free agents:

    Joe Johnson
    Ray Allen
    Manu Ginobili
    Marcus Camby
    Tracey McGrady
    Shaquille O'Neal
    Brad Miller
    Stephen Jackson
    Jermaine O'Neal
    Mike Miller
    Rip Hamilton

The next grouping is those players that are signed thru 2011, but can opt out in 2010 if they so choose:

Yao Ming (owed 17.7 million in 10/11)
Amare Stoudamire (owed 17.7 million in 10/11)
LeBron James (owed 17.2 million in 10/11)
Dwayne Wade (owed 17.0 million in 10/11)
Chris Bosh (owed 17.1 million in 10/11)
Dirk Nowitzki (owed $21.5 million in 10/11)
Josh Howard (owed $11.8 million in 10/11)
Mike Redd (owed $18.3 million in 10/11)
Tyson Chandler (owed $12.8 million in 10/11)

Last, but not least, we have the 2006 Draft Class. These players will all be restricted free-agents in 2010, if they haven't already been inked to extensions:

    Brandon Roy
    Rudy Gay
    LaMarcus Aldridge
    Andrea Bargnani
    Rajon Rondo
    Tyrus Thomas
    Kyle Lowry
    Randy Foye
    Marcus Williams
    Josh Boone
    Renaldo Balkman
    Sergio Rodriguez
    Ronnie Brewer

unfortunately dont see any game changers coming to the clipps in 2o10

    lebron james- brooklyn nets

    dywane wade-knicks or Maimi

chris bosh- either joins lebron in brooklyn or wade in mami or ny

amare stoudamire- alot like bosh i think will join either wade or lebron

    Nowitzki- staying in dallas

chris paul- expect new orleans to throw the max at him

JOE JOHNSON- is really the only player i think we could get but honestly it would be a long shot

Carlos Boozer- MIGHT BE A CLIPP, but he expressed his desire to play in the east, maybe join the sixers or hawks or utah signs him

Steve Nash- past his prime anyway

I don't see any long time veterans coming to the clippers like a Manu Ginobli, Rip Hamilton, ray allen

i have a strong feeling after houston loosing artest they might pull the baron for Tmac trade, i think its houston call to pull the trigger while the clipper organization is waiting to do it...

i have a feeling were getting rid of kaman too this year...

THE BEST THING WE CAN DO....

Eric Gordon multi year extension NEXT YEAR!!

Blake Griffin sign a multi year extension but depends how well he does, it would be a long shot, espn ( the clipper haters) already calling him the next lamar odom

Al thornton sign to a multi year extension....

i think what a lot of clipper fans forget is that we have the stars already, we dont really need to get the top free agents when we can sign OUR top free agents, and frankly i dont see any of those game changers coming here...

Welcome, by the way Very Happy.

I think Joe Johnson would be the most realistic--not entirely impossible.

Griffin will not be the next Odom *sigh*

and yea joe johnson is clearly the most realistic but its a new nba today, its all star teams vs the everyone else so joe could easily go join wade bosh lebron and all that their doing these days

    Welcome, topbuzzclip.

In answer to your post, if I may be so bold as to quote from Sly and the Family Stone:

"Que sera, sera/ whatever will be, will be"

And I agree that Joe Johnson would be a nice add on. But if someone like Childress can be added now, then go for it. Man it feels good to have cap flexibility again. Smile

After Ariza just signed with the Rockets - probably the most inexplicable move I've seen in 10 years - I wouldn't be surprised by anything at this point. Basketball players are fickle.

I know, haha. I'm sure that Griffin will be more loyal and less injury prone than Odom. And, yes, Bosh-LeBron-Johnson= WOW

Wishfull thinking. Everybody knows we never land All Star caliber FA until the end of their career. Joe Johnson isn't even realistic he'd go to a contender before he ever thought of coming here.

FYI Que sera sera ISN'T a Sly song. There was a rumor that Sly was diddling Doris Day (for real). Doris Day made the song famous, not Sly.

Im going to have to disagree. I think for All Stars at the end of their career the clippers are the last team they want to go to. I think the All Stars under 30 are actually going to have to take a hard look at coming to our team in 2010. Call me crazy, and ill go ahead and be optimistic and say it, but outside of a resign with the Cavs shouldnt we have at least as good a chance as the Knicks, Nets or someone else to sign LeBron to a max contract?

Call me crazy, but if Im looking for a team to spend my prime NBA years with, and I see a team with some really solid guys (assuming Griffin, Gordon and guys like DeAndre continue to improve) who are pretty young and guys who act like professionals from day 1 in the league and want to win pretty bad; from a wanting to win standpoint I think I have to consider coming to the clippers.

Maybe if it was three years from now, but those guys aren't ready to win just yet and LeBron will recognize that. I see no reason why he'll leave Cleveland to be honest. Plus, I don't think we can offer him a max contract.

b diddy u are blind to several clues on why lebron Could leave cleveland. first of all, they are temporarily atleast only built for this year as shack has a one year remaining on contract. also, when the cavs lose to the lakers this year in the finals, lebron will have had enough with danny pixie ferry and bolt cleveland. plus cleveland is just a boring/cold town

Even though we may not have a franchise with a lot of history, you still can't leave out the fact that we are in one of the biggest markets in the NBA. That alone, should at least put some thinking into Lebron, D-Wade, Bosh, Joe Johnson, Josh Howard, Dirk, Amare, etc. It's also important that we have a great year this year to at least convince them that we are capable of going to the next level. Does anybody know the teams who are expected to have capspace in 2010? That way we can find out who we're competing against

lets go thru the list: lebron would never go to the clips and be in king kobes shadow. d-wade doesnt make sense if any of you are serious about eric gordon being legit. bosh is not much a franchise player, and the clips have tons of bigs anyway. joe johnson is gonna be the hedo of next year (well slightly better), yet will want too much money for his age. josh howard is nearing 30 as well and really isnt needed if u guys really believe in al thornton. I would not mind Dirk and maybe Amare, but dirk is nearing 30, amare is a sketchy rebounder, and they are both forwards, something the clips are not lacking.

Dominique Wilkins, Glen Rice, Bill Walton, Norm Nixon, Sam Cassell, possibly even Baron Davis

The Knicks, the Nets, Cleveland, Utah, I think maybe the Kings, and also Oklahoma City.

There will be chances to improve the team. If not by luring a free agent, then by looking for discounts from teams forced to re-build or whatever.

I think its too soon to be worried about the 2010 season. When the time comes we should talk about it, many things can happen till that time

I don't wont to call you crazy I'm a nice guy. But NO Lebron we have no chance if Lebron leaves his miind is already made up where he goes. We don't have Championship lineage I was hearing how Magic Johnson, West and Buss lured Artest to the Lakers, we don't have icons of the sport to get players in limbo to come here. Just keeping it real.

I do understand its a crazy long shot. BUT the PTI guys brought it up twice and Bill Simmons (who always makes fun of the clippers) even dropped a line on his twitter throwing out the thought. And one other thing to make the dream of luring LeBron is that he is a smart guy when it comes to basketball. He knows what type of team is going to help him win and Im just saying next year our roster has a good shot of looking way better than a lot of teams who will be bidding for LeBron and other big names. If he doesnt win a ring this year and needs to find a home for his prime years and winning is all that matters, our young core might look pretty good, thats all Im thinking.

But yeah, it is a long shot and it might be tough to land anyone next year depending on how things shake out. I figured I would go with Bron though, why not at least dream about it until next summer?

@seanb.. anytime you have an opportunity to get an all world player, not saying we do but if we did, such as d-wade, regardless of who we have you go for them. there are so few of those types of players you cant wait for promising young guys like eric gordon to develop into what you think could be d-wade. its like would you rather have a bird in hand or bird in the bush situation.. always bird in hand. If a d-wade were to come to town (totally hypothetical for seanb's sake), then you move eg to sixth man and you have possibly best 6th man in league. and those two can play together sometimes too. come on now seanb, your bball knowledge is better than that..

Sterling is a different owner than he was ten years ago... It seems that as he's getting older, he doesn't want to leave the legacy of futility... If the owner is behind things, and I think Sterling finally is, anything is possible...

We only need a season to see what the Pups will do. EG and maybe BG have a good possibility of being first tier allstars. That's not a bird in the bush. We'll know how good they are by Feb or so. Then all will be revealed. The main thing we have to do to get a big name is to fire Whatshisname and probably dump Davis. No way he and LBJ or DWade would get along.

We do not have a strong tradition that attracts high profile free agents. We normally have to trade for our stars and get guys who are already on long term contracts. To be able to change all of that and attract a great player like DWade we need to win big this season and show the world that we are a franchise on the way up. If we do that, then the big stage that is LA will help us get the player of our dreams.

    All 3 are coming here.

Johnson and roy have nearly identical games with Joe Johnson shooting more 3's. They play the same combo guard point game and i dont think would want to play for the same team... also if we still have B diddy and he is actually playing well, along with Gordon, then we need a SF not a PG/SG.

I thought it was crazy before but the more i think about it and with us drafting Blake Griffin, and us proving this is a legit squad. Lebron might sign.

I mean think if our squad can play together, what SF wouldnt want to play in the following lineup?

    Bdiddy
    E Gordon
    Enter Name Here
    Blake Griffin
    Chris Kaman

Al thornton as explosive 6th man!

if i was an nba player, i guess i would consider the history of a franchise, but at the end of the day, it'll come down to the money i could get, where i would have to live, and the supporting cast around me.

in 2010 the clippers offer all three in a way that no other team can.

i don't know who we're going to get, but there are only so many teams out there with cap space, we're gonna get someone.

if we make the playoffs this year, it'll be hard to pass us up.

my unrealistic dream would be to do a sign and trade with baron for rondo, sign josh howard, and somehow trade for gortat, then give extensions to blake and gordon -

I thought that was Doris Day... Maybe we should get her in free agency.

Rondo would be the best addition out there. It could be pretty possible as well. I know Rondo and Doc Rivers butt heads a lot, but I doubt Doc Rivers and the FO wouldn't just make that trade. Baron is a downgrade, and the entire league is short on point guards. However, if they were interested in that trade I would even say offer Kaman to sweeten the pot. Rondo would be such a great fit, and he's very young.

Memphis is not going to let Rudy Gay get away from them. I feel they can actually be somewhat competitive in the future with their young squad.

I would like RAjon Rondo but when Sessions gets here, theres no need for him.
