| The parade or rally is scheduled before one of the Lakers playoff games to try and steal some of the media. This somewhat makes sense, but a Thursday afternoon is awful. Most people with season tickets are at work and this eliminates kids that are in school. |

So the “Bring LeBron to the L.A. Clippers” Rally will be on Thursday May 27th in front of LA Live. Right now the time is set for 3pm but I need to check with a couple friends who work for a couple networks and see what time they think would be best. We should be prepared to stay at least until the game starts. There were a lot of pros and cons for doing this at a Lakers game but it just seems best to do it when press is already there. That way we don’t have to hope they come to cover the event. This way we bring the event to them. In the unlikey scenario that the Lakes sweep the Suns, then we re-schedule for Game 1 or 3 of The Finals. One of the potential cons was the possibilty of Laker fans trash talking but I see that as a plus. Let them talk. Any press is good press. i would suggest not talking back too much, though. No need for a brawl.
People have suggested having musicians, rappers, DJ’s, etc., but that just doesn’t seem realistic unless someone wants to lug a generator over to Staples, and even if that happened, the plug would get pulled really quickly. We just need all of you to come down. Bring as many people with you as possible. Bring cousins, kids, grandparents, neighbors, strangers. ANYBODY! Offer to take them out to dinner after, if you have to. This is a by any means necessary event! If there are only 100 or so people, we are gonna look pretty pathetic. Wear your Clippers gear (Jesse Dietz has offered to get t-shirts made for the event. The cost to you would be $5. More info on that later.), make banners and posters, paint your body, do whatever you can to make this event larger than life. It might be a good idea to not only make banners for LeBron but also for Baron, Blake, EJ, Chris and DeAndre. Hell, make banners for Steve Blake and Ralph Lawler, too!!! Let’s show as much support as possible.
One thing I need is people to help put up posters and flyers. I am willing to organize it and even give you a list of places to go, but I need your help getting it out there. Please e-mail me through my facebook. And don’t forget to keep telling people about this. Get them to sign up on the Facebook page. E-mail, text and call everyone you know, even if they are not Clips fans. They might know someone who is.
I’m sending out a press release on Tuesday and will post that here along with any new info.
No offense to anyone else but, the people in the organization who have had the most consistent good reputation, besides Mr. Lawler, are us. The fans. Just ask Bill Simmons. Let’s prove it. |

This is too big for me to miss. Even though I have Thursday classes, I'm ditching them for this |

Yea that's true. High school is very hard to ditch unlike college where the classes are 100 students strong. I'm all the way in UCLA though and don't have a car, so I'm going the metro route. Wish there was a faster way. |

| I think the time is good for publicity reasons. I also think los suns have a chance to win the series so its at least going 5 games. There is only one problem IM GOIND TO DISNEYLAND THAT DAY!!! DAMB IT!!!!! I already postponed the disney thing twice already and it's for my kids bday. Don't worry though I'll be wearing my modified clipper gear. It'll be a random clipper jersey with lebron's name on the back. I'LL BE REPPIN THE PARADE AT DISNEY LAND!!!!! |

Nice of you to take initiative on this but be warned that interfering or disrupting a venue event like this can have consequences. I am almost sure that security will be very tight so the closer you get to Staples, the harder it is going to be to organize.
I really hope a big crowd turns out but I am also hesitant to say that some Lakers fans might take something like this personal so be careful out there. |

| One thing I strongly suggest (and I'm not advocating any violence what so ever)...bring protection! We all know that many Laker fans aren't the brightest, and you know some of them will be looking for trouble. Unfortunately, I'll be at work, and can't attend...but you guys have my support. |

Wow, take a look at these comments:
"While LeBron's rough series against Boston has New York all confused, L.A. plays it straight. The only question which remains is whether this parade will be very hilarious or the most hilarious thing ever."
"Fans need to come to the realization that begging a superstar to play for their team doesn’t work. Not only that " it couldn’t be more unoriginal. As millions of basketball fans sit back and wonder what uniform LeBron will wear next season, I find myself growing extremely tired of listening to writers and fans beg The King to sign with their team." |

Not sure what the protocol is here. I suspect it would be inappropriate for me to be involved before July 1.
I think it is Great that fans are involved and a giant turn-out could help get the attention of the media and the attention of the player and his people. However, anything Less than a massive turn-out could work against the plan. It would take an incredible marketing effort to get this done effectively and I'm not sure that can be done on FB. I may be wrong - just offering an opinion.

man, people better show up in masses to this or its just gonna look like a pathetic plea for attention.
im not a lebron supporter so im not gonna be attending, BUT the thought of a clipper gathering outside a laker home game sounds fun. i just might go for that reason. |

I wasn't trying to bring "gloom and doom" here...like I said, I support the fans going to the parade (although technically, it sounds more like a rally than a parade), however I'm just skeptical about this. I sincerely hope things do go peacefully, and hope that everyone there has a good time. A lot of folks are just going look at this as a cheap publicity stunt, and I just don't think it'll be all that effective. I'm sure LeBron would be flattered (anything to stroke his already massive ego), but it'll hard to believe that he'll take it seriously; I hope I'm wrong.
I went over Lakersground (I guess I'm a glutton for punishment), and I saw that one of the idiots there posted what I said...I wish I can truly say what I want without using certain language, so I'll leave it at that. |

No, you're missing my point. I wasn't coming down on you, I was coming down on the person who decided to use your honesty ( I have the same opinion) in a bad way. I shared the same view on this thread. The theme on that yahoo article was NOTHING about the rally and more about a possible CLASH between the fans of both teams. Seems to me the guy was more interested in what could happen between the fans than how it will effect LBJ's decision. |

Understood...my comments weren't directed at you, Joe. It was certainly more towards the writer and anyone else that felt I was predicting or wanting something bad to happen. |

I believe this is correct. Better to call it a rally, instead of parade, but that may require a permit too. Next thing you know, the promoter of this gets a bill from COLA for security services. |

Man, this is truly embarrassing, especially if LEBron does not end up here. But that's just me.
But hey, it never hurts to try, right?
I don't think it is embarrassing. Never hurts to try but it would be sad if the parade never gets close to Staples.
Am I wrong but don't you need a permit for this?
I believe this is correct. Better to call it a rally, instead of parade, but that may require a permit too. Next thing you know, the promoter of this gets a bill from COLA for security services.
nah ppl are protesting phil jackson tonight for his view on the arizona immigrant law. and it's just regular ppl like us, no need of a permit. |

| You cannot have a parade without a permit, CT. Every city has ordinances. A protest is not the same as a parade. |

| well, I would think these organizers know that they need permits...but I will double check..good looking out ClipsJoe. I personally think that it should be moved back a bit...Thursday is a meh day to do a rally especially if you want a big turnout...however...I will take work off early and go because I am a Clipper faithful |

It's not the lakers fans protesting. The anti-illegal immigration law activists. |

I was watching the news last night and some Laker fan was being interviewed and he demanded a public apology from Jackson or the Laker organization. How pathetic is that? |

Los Angeles Clippers Fans Organize a “Bring LeBron To L.A. Parade”
For Immediate Release:
Yes, mighty members of the press. There actually are Clipper fans. And we are a dedicated and serious people. (And we’re really sick of losing) So we have decided to take destiny into our own hands and stage a parade through the streets of downtown L.A. in an effort to woo the greatest basketball player on the planet, LeBron James, to come to Southern California and bring a championship banner to the other side of Staples Center. We realize this is a daunting task, but didn’t David slay Goliath? Didn’t the little engine who could, could? Don’t we all remember The Alamo? O.k., bad example, but we, the proud members of Clipper Nation are not intimidated.
The parade will take place on Thursday, May 27th from 3pm-6pm. Our starting point will be L.A. Live and we will keep on marching until the Phoenix Suns game starts across the street. The heart of Clipper Nation, Clipper Darrell, will be leading the parade with his unmistakable “Let’s Go Clippers, Let’s Go!” battle cry. Please join us in support of our semi-quixotic quest. |

Just finished watching Sports Center intro on ESPN. They Mentioned the Clippers will have a parade to bring Lebron to LA.
As the intro was finishing up, both commentators were saying, yeah, it could happen...Then both starting laughing hysterically. that was pretty pathetic of them but the more this thing is getting exposure, the more the fans become a target of ridicule.
I know there are good intentions with what people want to do but the more I think about it, the more I am sure this is not going to end up good. |

Must have missed that but even if it were a fan, they are paying part of his salary and if he was at the game, I am sure he spent hard earned money giving him way to express his opinion just like the coach. Nothing wrong with that. People here have the freedom of choice to express their opinion especially after the coach expressed his. The coach made this political, not the fans. And since he took sides on this, a consumer has the right to boycott any product he wishes or voice his his disagreement.
If you ask me, the coach is there to coach, not to make a sport a political forum to voice his opinions. What you are seeing is people react to his initial statements.

why lebron wont come to the Clippers:
he wants to win something like 6 or 7 rings. the west has become even MORE competitive while the east remains weak. since the celtics are getting old, the magic seem to be the only real team to beat. that's 1 team to beat versus an entire western conference.
why he's joining the bulls:
some time ago, lebron said he was changing numbers from 23 to 6 (supposedly in honor of michael jordan). i see it a different way. 23 is retired in chicago, 6 isnt. |
