Remember back in 2010, when we picked Aminu? What if we had picked Paul George, the SoCal native.

I wish we would have.He is a good player with a lot of length and an great dunker which fits our team nicely.I have traded for him in NBA 2K last year and this year.Just like how he plays. Not a superstar like Griffin or CP3 but a guy with potential.Still if we did get him he would be with New Orleans anyways like Aminu. But would have been exciting to see Bledsoe,Gordan,George,Blake, and DJ playing together. That is a young explosive 5 right there that could run all game.

We'd still have to trade him to N.O. in the CP3 trade?

Woulda, shoulda, coulda...

I don't like to re-litigate the past. Yeah, Aminu was a shitty pick, but Bledsoe and DJ more than made up for it.

Everybody should remember we gave up Aminu in the trade for CP3

What if we had drafted Hasheem Thabeet the previous year? And I personally think Amiu has the bigger upside than Paul George even though it may take longer.

Clipper Joe is right...

That or Bledsoe would no longer have been with the team.. Its a give and take scenario.. We could have drafted Paul George but we could have had to give him up anyways... Either way Aminu helped us bring CP3 Good pick if you ask me..

yup, and if he stayed, no way we would be able to keep them all considering salaries would be high. similar to the EJ situation.

if he's the BPA, and.... he wants to play for your team, especially when that was not so commonplace for the Clipps.... think you gotta draft him, and.... he might well have somehow survived to play for this team now ?

and that said, no matter how much I might not have cared for the job Olshey (or Dunleavy for that matter) did.... he still made the deal that has made us perennial contenders, at least for the foreseeable future.

Not to mention a young cheap capable and willing defender that wouldn't cost much even when contract time came around. The clippers still need a Iman Shumpert/Khawi Leonard type player to fit in with the core

I don't like shoulda/coulda/woulda's.... but I'm glad we are where we are now.

We probably would have traded George for CP3 but it is at least possible that we would have moved Bledsoe INSTEAD of Paul George...Bledsoe is great but we would have been better off if that would have happened. We'd have a great young wing for the future right now instead of a great young PG who we have a hard time finding minutes for and will most likely be gone after next season.

If our FO is smart they will do exactly what OKC did this summer with Bledsoe. Do your best next offseason to extend him for a reasonable price, if it doesn't work move him for the best package you can before the season. We could end up trading him for Paul George himself. They are a team that could bear to move a good young wing and they would get a lot better by adding Bledsoe. As it stands today, this would be a pretty even trade and would benefit both teams.

And how much do you think your going to have to pay George after 2013/14 season?...I'm guessing at least the same amount for Bledsoe.

Good point. About the same. but its a position of need. How much can we really justify to pay Chris Paul's backup? I don't think any more than 5-6mil per year. For a long term starting SG/SF, we can afford to go as high as 8-10mil per year. Caron is getting that now and PG will be a much better player in the next year or two.

Starting SF is more important than backup PG. Paul George is a great talent. He plays with more control than Bledsoe, is a great defender, and is starting to become more of a capable 3rd option. NBA players often have a breakout year in their 3rd year. Don't be surprised if this guy becomes a borderline all star. Btw Caron gets paid 8m.

I much rather have Paul George than Caron. He is already better than Caron by a decent margin(better defender, better scorer, better rebounder, better passer even).

Serendipity. Aminu was certainly another botched pick, but if he wasn't we might still be just dreaming of the possibility of having a player like Chris Paul. It all worked out in the end.

Speaking of the Pacers taking advantage of our front office's mistakes, I'm still bitter over the Korolev/Granger blunder. Hindsight is still 20/20, but that one was a gimme and our brass blew it.
