It's on people. We have never looked better. We have NO weaknesses. We have youth and experience. We have the best back court in basketball and the most explosive front court in the game. We have the fans behind us (except for two nights a season... sigh). We have all the right pieces and all the necessary weapons. Sit back and enjoy. It all begins tomorrow night.

Ahhhh, sweet victory. I remember our last Clipper victory well. Mother's Day in Memphis. As a Clippers season ticket holder starting my 11th season tomorrow night I've heard a lot of doubt over the years. None delighted me more than last post season. When (chuckle) people (idiots) once again (boring) counted us (America's Team) out. And what did we do? We shocked and awed. From the Miracle in Memphis to the Mother's Day Massacre the Clippers won and won big. This season starts tomorrow and who better to come out of the gates against than the filthy Grizzled Memphites. I hope Z-Bo chokes on his stupid jersey if he dares to pop it in cockiness in front of our crowd. I hope Blake Griffin jumps over chunky soup's chunky chunk Marc Gasol to slam dunk a classic earth quake Blake boom shake Griffin Dunk of the Night jam. I hope Deandre goes 20 for 19 from the free throw line. I hope Caron Butler is even more cooler (not possible). I hope Chris Paul remembers fondly the days when his jersey wasn't hanging in the rafters next to his Clippers Championship banners. I hope Vinnie Del Genius silences the doubters and haters with the most important coaching stat of em all... W's. Let's Go Clippers Let's Go

I'm so hyped for this season not just because the Clippers look the best they ever have in history but also because of all of these teams that have improved over the offseason. I can't wait to see what our Clips can do to them. This is a year for great basketball and great match ups. I truly believe that the Clips have the chance to win it all, LET'S GO CLIPPERS!!!

Clipscast3, I usually do the game threads so if you don't mind, leave that up to me. I usually wait for the game preview to highlight the thread.

Thanks!

Im glad someone changed the title of this thread, we are sounding our crosstown rivals. Let's not get carried away and start getting to Cocky. We have quite a few weaknesses to be exact, Specifically on Defense and defending the 3 point line. We also haven't been testing playing against a dominant big that can bang and give DJ and/or Griffin fits and get them in foul trouble. I love this team we have and think we have a really good chance at winning it all. But we have to calm down with proclaiming that we will win it all already before season even started. We sound like Lakers fans. lol

I'm looking forward to see how DJ pans out against these larger centers. Hopefully, he's been working his way through those double team situations; if DJ can get himself through that, it'll make the game a lot easier for the team. Better ball movement, open shooters, easier points.

No. In fact, the whole team isn't playing tonight. Very Happy

LO should be able to play tomorrow night along with the rest of the guys. LO should be a game time decision.

The big difference between last year and this year is that we are coming into this matchup with a clean slate. Last year was very upsetting for me as a clippers fan. We lost a lot of games in the last stretch and in the process lost the fourth seed to Memphis. We made that matchup much harder on ourselves than it should have been.

This year we have so much depth that our guys dont need to play heavy minutes. I think the pressure will not be that huge on anyone, and the offseason allowed our two go to guys-Blake and Chris-to get healthy.

I feel much better about this season than i did last year going into the playoffs. you can see it on everyone on this team..they are relaxed and enjoying the chemistry together.

Hate to say it but without Barnes and Hill we have problems. Butler doesn't have a lot of gas left. Crawford I guess can play SF. A skinny LO could fake it. Do I hear three guard sets?

Jefferson didn't torch DJ so maybe he can hold his own meaning not get punked. He needs a sports psychologist for his FT's. He 2/a gazillion. Random chance gives him a better percentage. Billups could do better than that blindfolded.

Fortunately was can play small and fast if our guys can handle the minutes

Grizzlies-Clippers Preview

By JEFF BARTL

Posted Oct 29 2012 3:59PM

A grueling seven-game playoff battle proved the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies possess championship aspirations after spending numerous seasons accumulating extra ping-pong balls for the draft lottery.

Los Angeles hosts Memphis on Wednesday night in the teams' season opener, 5 1/2 months after the Clippers knocked off the Grizzlies in the first round.

The Clippers (40-26) qualified for the postseason for the first time since 2005-2006 after acquiring Chris Paul from New Orleans in the offseason, teaming him with young star forward Blake Griffin. Los Angeles signed Griffin to a five-year, $95 million extension in July.

Shortly after, Griffin had surgery to repair a torn left medial meniscus he suffered while practicing with Team USA for the Olympics. He said he's fully recovered and ready to help guide the previously floundering franchise to its first consecutive playoff appearances since 1991-92 and 1992-93.

"We're up there with anybody," Griffin said. "We can play with anybody. With our talent and depth, we can go toe to toe with whoever it is."

Los Angeles, though, was swept by San Antonio in the conference semifinals after knocking off Memphis, which also expects to be a contender in a loaded West that features the retooled Lakers and reigning conference champion Oklahoma City.

The Grizzlies (41-25) ended the regular season on a six-game winning streak before battling back from a 3-1 deficit versus the Clippers to force a decisive game. The loss left a feeling of unfinished business for a team that upset the top-seeded Spurs before taking the Thunder to seven games in the 2011 postseason.

"It can make you more dedicated when you've gone through something like that," coach Lionel Hollins said. "It's definitely a positive, but you still have to go do it. You can talk about it. I have a sour taste.' You can talk about,I'm more dedicated.' You have to be that, and you have to go do it."

Former Clipper Zach Randolph had one of the best seasons of his career in 2010-11, but he averaged only 11.6 points while being limited to 28 games and eight starts with a torn MCL in 2011-12. He shot 42.0 percent versus Los Angeles in the playoffs.

"Our expectations are high, too," Randolph said. "We just want to take one game at a time. We don't want to talk about doing this, doing that. We want to take it one game at a time. I think we do that and don't look too far ahead, take steps, let it come to us, we're going to be all right."

The Grizzlies have lost 11 straight season openers.

Memphis and Los Angeles both made offseason changes in hopes of making deep playoff runs. Los Angeles added Lamar Odom, Grant Hill and Jamal Crawford to help compensate for the absence of point guard Chauncey Billups, out until at least mid-November after surgery to repair the torn left Achilles he suffered 20 games into last season.

Paul, who averaged 19.8 points and 9.1 assists in his first season with the Clippers, is happy with the added depth.

"We could bring five guys off of our bench that could be starters," he said. "That's what you see with the teams that advance and go deep into the playoffs - their bench is usually deep. Not every night is Blake going to be able to score 29 points. The bench is something that you count on for the long season."

Memphis opted to let guard O.J. Mayo sign with Dallas and traded Dante Cunningham to Minnesota for guard Wayne Ellington.

Leading scorer Rudy Gay, center Marc Gasol and point guard Mike Conley are back along with big man Darrell Arthur, who missed all of last season with a torn right Achilles.

"We're going to have (a healthy team to start) this year and hopefully everybody stays healthy and shows everybody what we're really like when we're healthy," Randolph said.

"Quincy Pondexter had the line of the lunch at the Tip-Off Luncheon. When asked to beat the Clippers he simply replied "I'd like to punch them in the mouth."

Bring it punk!

With Chauncey Billups (Achilles) also out of the lineup, the Clippers are expected to have 11 players available.

Wo is the 11th guy? I think we have only 10.

Well if they plan on coming at us hard in game #1, I foresee Ryan Hollins laying down the law tonight.

Judging by preseason, it looks like we have a couple of legit enforcers in him and Barnes.

Cp3, Willie, Caron, Blake, DJ

Bledsoe, Jamal, Lamar, Turiaf, Hollins

Trey I guess is the 11th. Has he even been suiting up for games in preseason? Anyway, doesn't matter, we only need those 10 guys to win this game. Barnes will be a godsend on Friday against Lakers. He'll play a lot and will guard Kobe I would assume.

I've already started drinking ! I just hope Memphis will realize this is the first game,,not the 7th game of the finals,,and stop their "thuggery" for at least one night (especially without Barnes to beat them back). Don't want to go limping into Friday night.

Don't care if Lamar is in great shape,,as long as he is in enough shape to beat the crap out of someone.

I plan on seeing my doctor tomorrow for a super sore throat as I am going to use it up tonight yelling.
