| I have noticed lately how inconsistant Cat Mobley has been lately. He shoots ok at times and goes 1 for 6 the next 3 games. Corey Maggette scores 3.4 points per game more than Cat playing an average of 7 fewer minutes. Corey also gets over 60% more rebounds per game in fewer minutes. Corey has an overall higher shooting percentage that Cat. So why are we trying to trade Maggette? Why are we playing Corey fewer minutes than Cat? Since Cat has offered to come off the bench, let him. Start Corey at shooting guard and start Tim Thomas at PF or start Q Ross when we need to. Cat can provide some instant offense off the bench and if he can't hit that game then sit him back down. If Corey had Cat's minutes he would probably average 20 PPG and 8 RPG. Most importantly we would be winning more games. |

I've never been a big Mobley fan ever since we had to settle for him after Ray Allen and Micheal Redd turned us down. Maggette should definitely be starting over Cat, although Corey isn't shooting well from 3-point range. Mobley's trade value is pretty low, but there are a couple of teams out there looking for shooting guard help. Utah is one, as they currently have Derek Fisher filling that spot right now. But I don't know what they'd offer in return. Then there's possibly Miami. They've been interested in Maggette but maybe they'd settle for Mobley. Doubtful but you never know. If we could somehow get Kapono from them, I'd take that.
I'm sure that there's not much interest for Mobley out there but "Dumb-leavy" should at least try starting Maggette and see what happens. It's not like any of "Dumb-leavy's" moves thus far have panned out. |

| Mobley's age is the main problem...Lately he isn't scoring regularly and this is his only function although I remember some good defenses...I wouldn't be against trade him but as you comment the problem is the value...Only to make some buzz I'll propose one trade:Gette+Cat for Fisher+Kirilenko...At least it's interesting... |

Maggette > Cat
I think Maggette alone is more valuable for the Clippers rotation than AK & Fish. We already got a good PG (SL). |

| Even though Corey's overall shooting percentage is higher than Cat's, the only stat that Cat has that is higher than Corey's is 3 pt shooting percentage. But how many times does Corey score two and go to the line to complete the 3 point play. ALL THE TIME. This is what Corey does. And he does it very efficiently. With 45% shooting from the field, 83% from the line, and getting almost half of his points from the charity stripe, equals a lot of 3 point plays. You know another player who constantly uses this formula with great success......Kobe. But Kobe gets to do it for about 40 minutes per game. If Corey, with similar shooting percentages to Kobe, was allowed to play Kobes minutes, he would be averaging about 24 PPG and would be one of the top 10 scorers in the league. Kobe is getting 28 PPG and is currently in the 4th spot. And nobody is trying to trade him. I am not saying the Corey is Kobe Bryant. Just close enough that it is ridiculous that we are trying to trade him instead of playing him more. Unfortuneately, Dumleavy doesn't read our site, and isn't smart enought to do the math I just did, and be unable to figure out that he has a player that can consistantly produce numbers equal to what EB produces. And every great team needs a great 1 - 2 punch. We have it, Dumleavy just can't see it, nor find it. Sad! They need to fire Dumleavy and let JamFan and Benoit coach the team. The Dynamic Duo would get the job done. For one thing we would stop overcoaching on offense and let the guys play basketball. And sit any player the very second they stop playing defense. And use our young, energetic, bench players to bring energy to the floor. Dumleavy is inside their heads. They are thinking to much. They hesitate wondering if coach is going to be mad if they miss. Shooting is all about rhythm and confidence (ex:Phoenix Suns). If you feel it, shoot it. It's an easy formula. It is just to complicated for Dumleavy. He no longer can see the forest for the trees. |

| Yeah Cat's been struggling lately. Maybe it's because he's a Dunleavy signing so coach has some favoritism going on there. But you can see his minutes go down though since he's been playing pretty badly, and Maggette has been getting most of the minutes during crunch time. Cat can play way better than what he's shown lately though- he's still the team's most accurate 3 point shooter, but he needs to pick his spots and don't force too many shots (which he has been lately). |

| Against the Warriors, Corey 18 pts, 11 rebound (4 offensive), Cat 10 points 2 rebounds. Corey had 6 points from the line, Cat had zero. Corey had 5 assists, Cat had zero. I bet if we checked the stats this way every game we would see that Corey is more consistant, and does more things on the floor better than Cat. Who should we start, who should we trade? I report, you decide? |

| I just wanna start by saying that I am a maggette fan. i think he probably has the most potential of any clipper on the roster right now. however, half the time it seems like he plays lazy. how many turnovers did he have last year in the playoffs just because he made soft lob passes down low. when he's going to the lane and getting fouled he's a great player but if you set plays where he actually has to pass he becomes a liability. cat is a better passer and in my opinion a better defender than maggette. i think these two players are about even when you take into account both the positives and negatives. |

First of all welcome to CT! I agree 100% w/ your assessment on Maggette. His passing- it's pretty bad- especially when it comes to post entry passes. If he just sets his mind to become a better passer I think he could really cut down on his turnovers. And yeah he's one of the very best at drawing fouls, and we see that when he gets his mind to it he can make great defensive plays (like that sick block he had tonight). |

I agree too. Maggette could be an All-Star caliber player if he worked harder. Maybe we can get Coach K to get him going, j/k. Mobley on the other hand was pretty talented about 3-5 years ago. He's getting older though, and even though he tries harder than Maggette does, his performance is lacking.
They do kinda equal out. Mobley needs to split minutes with Q-Ross at SG.
Here's my suggestions for playing time percentages:
PG - Cassell 50%, Livingston 30%, Ewing 20%
SG - Ross 40%, Mobley 40%, Livingston 20%
SF - Maggette 60%, Ross 25%, Thomas 15%
PF - Brand 70%, Singleton 30%
C - Kaman 60%, Brand 20%, Williams 20%
What do you guys think??? |

Looks good- though you could add Cassell to the SG position also. I think Singleton can play some center too if the Clippers go up against teams w/o a true center (such as the Suns). Also Thomas at 15% overall is a little harsh . |

| True...I forgot Cassell plays SG too. We do have a very versatile roster. |

| Except for Thomas pretty much being a forward, all the other players you have slotted in all the remaining spots for PG, SG, and SF can play 2 or all 3 of those positions. So it really comes down to how much you want a player to play and who you want on the floor during certain situations, and at the end of the game. Since everybody can play at least two spots, getting them on the floor really isn't a problem. |
