Look, I know he was part of the drafting process but Blake Griffin? DJ? I'll give him credit EBled but C'mon!

"I watch their games almost as closely as I watch Portland's," said Olshey, whose team will play host to the Clippers on Thursday, "because I really have a great affinity for Blake and DeAndre, who I drafted, and Eric Bledsoe, who is in the draft my proudest moment."

He Obviously can't give himself credit for Blake (seeing how he was the consensus #1 pick) but he does deserve some credit for Bledsoe and DJ. To get a starting center out of the second round of the draft (no matter how inconsistent) is definitely something to be proud of. Notice he left out Aminu >.>

I don't blame him for being proud of picking up DJ from the 2nd round. Wonder how proud he is of giving him 10 million a year...

He wasn't GM when DJ and BG were drafted. Pretty bold thing to say when Dunleavy was GM/coach.

He became assistant GM prior to the 08-09 season. He didn't take over for Dunleavy until 2010. To say that he "drafted Blake" is a stretch. To say that he "drafted DJ" is nonsense.

Did you guys know that I drafted Danny Manning at the age of 4 years old because my uncle's dog's sister's friend knew someone who was part of the org? Okay. That's an exaggeration, but still, have some class, Olshey.

And, to be fair, good work on Bledsoe.

cant argue with that draft brilliance. and aminu's having a pretty solid start to the season. then you have lillard - dude looks like a stud.

He fell onto a situation where a new GM would thrive. He picked lillard when they needed a PG? Brilliant!

He might wanna add Aminu to that conversation...

13.3PPG 1.7BLK 2STL 2AST 7REB 59.4% FG%a so far this year. I expect drop offs in a couple of those categories but not much.

Aminu has always had the potential of a 14 PPG player and maybe a career high of 17 PPG. Kinda like a Luol Deng-type-player. He just didn't get the playing time here and understandably so considering he was just a raw talent compared to what he is now.

And why is Olshey taking credit for drafting Blake? That's like Craig Patrick thinking he deserves credit for drafting Sidney Crosby or John Paxson drafting LeBron James. Not saying Blake Griffin has reached the levels of these two players (one is a different sport, but you get the point).

once upon a time the clippers needed a center and we drafted olowakandi. Once upon a time we needed a point guard and we drafted shaun livingston who couldnt shoot and had/has a career of a journeyman.

Drafting the position you need is soooo easy!

WTF? What does that have to do with anything? So Olshey got lucky and we didn't. You make it seem as if Olshey had a tough decision on a position of need. Guess what? he was the only PG in the top 10. lol

The next PG in the draft was Kendall Marshall @ 13th. Who would you pick out of the 2 top PG prospects when you have NO PG?

Yes, drafting the position is easy when you have the 6th pick in the lottery and not many PG's projected to go in the top 10. You pick the highest rated and hope for the best. lol

You act as if picking is hard to do.

with your logic, we're just unlucky for 25 years when we were drafting bust after bust and incompetence had nothing to do with it. And for all these years, the spurs were just "lucky" to have great draft every year.

Repped High Quality Post

Olshey is the definition of douchebag. What a loser sitting up there trying to take credit for Dunleavy's draft picks. Other than Bled, every other thing he's done has either been a terrible mistake (3year deal for the worst basketball player on the planet, Aminu instead of Paul George, 2years for Brian Cook) or complete no-brainer (CP3 trade, Blake draft)...Even bidding on Billups was easy and took no intelligience whatsoever. Absolutely no risk move.

He's an idiot and he's sitting up there watching a bunch of rooks run around on the court knowing full well he's at least 2 years from having a decent team. Bad owner, smallest market in the NBA, handcuffed with cap problems. He's already kicking himself. When we win the NBA championship this season and he's in the lottery he's gonna be even more sad.

Overall we hat Olshey because he did a good job and he left us like a piece of ****. Whether or not some of you guys want to give him credit for certain moves and others he didnt deserve he still did a good job. He probably should have won the GM of the year award last year. Do I like the way Olshey left hell no but his time here was more productive then anything we have ever had. He got us CP3 that move alone makes him a good gm. No gm can hit home runs on every pick or make good free agent signings every time. He does deserve credit.

We are quick to give the three headed monster on this off season but when you really take a look at the moves it seems CP3 was the real guy bringing these players in.

Lastly I hope Portland sucks and Olshey gets fired within a couple years.

I know the main message here is you agree that he's a douche but you give him too much credit. (I was one of the worst ones out of everybody in this regard before and during his departure)

He was at the right place at the right time. We had a bunch of young talent to use as trade chips because we had sucked for so long. We had a great draft pick to trade because of a previous trade that happened 10 years ago. And Blake Griffin happened.

It all fell in his lap. All he did was not screw it up too bad. The real moves he made, like Gomes and Cook, were terrible.

dunno.... am no Olshey fan, and.... do give him credit for engineering the Paul trade, to whatever extent he can take responsibility for.... the thing was every which way but loose for a bit there, and anything but a no brainer....

and again personally, would have drafted Terrence Ross instead of Lillard, George instead of Aminu, and traded for Avery Bradley instead of Bledsoe, or traded a pick for Jru Holiday the year before.... think everyone here has had their hits and misses in the draft, and.... by the looks of things now, am tipping my cap to Olshey (as I have never thought much of his draft track record) as Lillard looks like the real deal to date....

What a joke.

DJ and Blake were drafted by Dunleavy. Even if Olshey drafted them, why on Earth would he be PROUD of that bust DeAndre Jordan?

Eric Bledsoe was drafted by Sam Presti and traded to the Clippers on draft day.

Olshey is such a classless a-hole and his ego is so overinflated, it's not even funny.

Neil proved himself and he is doing it again in Portland. Just like I said last year when everyone was blasting him. Yes I hate that we lost such a great GM.
