There's a reason laker fans are depressed at this hiring.

I'm so sorry, I forgot where I was for a second. Let me rephrase what I originally stated:

Da Lakerz suck cuz they got Mike D'Antoni and he is a stupid head dumb coach cuz he gots no ringz. Lakers are fakers who sucks cuz they not clippers! ClIppErs RULEZZ!

relax bro. you are so funny, you are constantly bashing the clips or not giving them credit where credit is due. smh. the facts speak for themselves. d'antoni has a less impressive track record than mike brown. d'antoni had young and talented players to run his system in phoenix. he doesnt have that with the lakers. he has 4 talented players and 4 mediocre to solid players. yet u probably still think the clippers are in trouble. smh. your response to cleepers' statement is plain silly. if you are at least going to try to be funny, try a little bit harder.

Ya, and then they'll trade steve blake for ray allen! You are sounding like a laker fan, no offense.

You make it seems like gasol has zero value. How da Fuk u gonna equate gasol for smith to Steve for ray????

The point is neither of those are going to happen.

Mike Dantoni likes to run fast paced and quickly. Lakers are too old and slow for that.

I am not constantly bashing the Clippers, and this whole thread has nothing to do with the Clippers--it's about the Lakers. And speaking about giving credit where it is due, nobody here is giving D'Antoni credit. He is a very good coach, and everyone here is just laughing at him and making it seems like he sucks. All I said was, give D'Antoni his due, he's a good coach. And I get **** from everyone, as usual, because me saying D'Antoni is a good coach makes me a Laker fan or something. D'Antoni and Nash ran some of the best offense this league has ever seen, and the two of them pairing up could make for a great team again, despite this team having some glaring weaknesses. I'm not saying he's the best coach, but given the situation, given that he's pairing up with Nash again, I'd say the Lakers upgraded. But go ahead, tell me I'm a Clipper hater or something. Bro.

More on Phil not taking, or not teally being offered, the Laker job. Just watching ESPN and Phils people commented that " Phil didn't ask for the moon, demand control of team, or equity. And the fact that the Lakers did'nt do anything to deny the story shows they planted the story and the fact that they called him 10 mins before midnight while he was sleeping and said they are going with someone else. After a guy who's done nothing other than put hardware on their bookshelves to show what a lack of respect shows how bad a state that franchise is in." I don't think we'll be seeing Phil anytime soon hanging with Kupchek and Buss

remember a lot of posters in here were laughing like jackasses at the thought of dhoward coming to the lakers. heck they were pretty much adamant that howard wont go to the lakers cuz howard went on public about not wanting to join the fakers. but then what happen? Just dont be too arrogant to think that gasol is an immovable piece cuz nobody in this league is immovable

Yeah but that's from history that the fakers got handed on a platter HOF centers from the magic: Shaq, Howard

Let's face it, the Lakers were going to hire someone decent- McMillan, Shaw, Jackson, MVG, D'Antoni, Sloan. Of all the coaches they could have picked, this one makes the least sense to me.

A great coach will adjust his approach to the players he has. A merely good coach doesnt have the tools to do that. This guy wont adjust, the players will have to adjust to him. D'Antoni has a system that requires a quality/ smart PG, young legs, a deep bench and mulitple good shooters. The Lakers have at best, one of the above.

I say this is the best result (short of Brown sticking around) that we could have hoped for.

@jarca, the arrogant ones are those on here who always think they are correct in their opinions regarding the clippers or the nba for that matter. getting howard took getting rid of bynum. gasol is not 25 years old like bynum is. he may not have the injury history, but hes not a franchise type of player, at least not anymore. why would the hawks make such a trade. josh smith, teague and korver are worth more than gasol, ebanks and blake. unless the hawks want to accomodate the lakers, i doubt they are stupid enough to do that.

I don't think Teague and Blake are in the trade talks. The rumors going around is that it would be Gasol and maybe Earl Clark for Korver and Smith. The reason the Hawks are considering this is because Smith might leave during FA since this is his contract year. While Gasol may not be in his prime anymore,a front court with Horford and Gasol will still be very good.Smith and Howard are good friends and Korver is a good fit for D'Antoni's system so the Lakers will want this trade but imo it is up to the Hawks to decide whether this trade happens.I wouldn't want to take Gasol's big contract but he is still a very good player. If he is worth his contract is up to them.

^@jarca, read below. i guess its not teague, but korver and josh smith. oh i see. yeah i had heard some rumors too. however, if the hawks didnt want to pay joe johnson all that money he was owed, and hes in his prime, why would they do that for someone who is close to past his prime. but like u said, its up to them. if i were the hawks id ask for more. a deal like that would be a fleecing from the lakers.

Watching the Lakers lose to the spurs makes me think. I get almost as much enjoyment watching the Lakers lose as I do watchng the Clippers win. Bare in mind I am drinking at a bar in LAX with a schmoe whearing a Lakers hoodie.

^ i saw that. but he should realize that the spurs locked down everyone on the court during that play. it was actually kobe who cost them the game by getting caught on the switch, which allowed danny green to get an open shot.

It feels good watching them lose at the last second like that, but I have to admit watching the entirety of a Lakers game (and I torture myself often with this) is SOOOOO boring. How do their fans not turn on a Clipper game and feel like they are watching the best thing on earth? Ooh, another jump shot! Fantastic! And on another note, how many moving picks at 25-30' out are not called resulting in a wide open Kobe jumper? Hollins would get called for that crap all game long if the Clippers were setting picks like that.

Sure... because anybody who might be optimistic that we're winning while our division rivals are in turmoil is incapable of proper spelling and grammar, right?

Until somebody lifts the trophy in June, ALL predictions (including your own) are merely speculation... and that speculation can either be borne of hope or fear.

You can sit there shitting your pants about the scary, indestructible boogeyman if you like... but I'm choosing hope.

So do us all a favor and spare us the condescending tone. Is it really such a terrible abomination for Clippers' fans to wish failure on the lakers, and expect and hope for the best from our team?

^agreed. im tired of the negativity from the some of the clippers fans, especially those who think their viewpoints are some sort of englightened response or an unbiased take on a situation, the situation being the d'antoni hire by the flakers. you know it was not that great of a hire, when magic johnson and at least half of their fan base are still pining for phil jackson.

^ Bernie now has a better winning % than Phil Jackass, but of course he's not a big enough name for the mighty lakers ('mighty' these days means they 'might' make the playoffs Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_16 ).

Just because you put a bunch of A-list stars in a movie doesn't mean it'll be any good without a decent story, or for that matter, the right director.

BB's winning % is under 500 as an NBA coach. Even bad teams think he's a bad coach. But ... a couple of injuries to key players, which could happen (wink) and the Lakers new run and gun offense wont be alot of fun anymore ... they may be pining of the days of BB.

Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_04 They wish!!!

With all those old farts starting, it's a fair comparison, but unfortunately for them their bench is so shitty that none of their starters are "expendable".
