^ me either. f*** skip payless. lol. about the win, excellent win. again, when your offense is not in tip tip shape, when the focus is on D it will carry any team, and it carried us tonight. excellent play from ebled, cp3, barnes, turiaf and bg. even odom is starting to contribute. we overcame the reffing bias and pulled out the win. now its on to okc.

I already can't stand that new host. First, I think she's awful anyway...but she's also a Laker fan and when she introduced the topic asking if the Clippers were "for real", she actually threw in a snotty remark that she "didn't think so".

roll

Anyway, I'm sure Baseless will have some excuse or criticism (like he'll say Blake still can't shoot, never mind that Blake was shooting well from the field and even decent from the FT line before this game). Baseless will also bring up the Spurs sweeping the Clippers in the playoffs last year, scoffing when someone brings up BG and CP3 being injured (as if our two best players being hurt was no big deal or something).

I fully expect Stephen A Smith to bring it tomorrow. He'll be outnumbered by Skip and what's-her-name.

stephen A smith is going to brutally shoot down payless. and yes, i cant stand that woman. idk how certain women get on sports shows without any sense of what is going on in sports. i guess it helps when u root for the fave team of espn in the flakers. smh

Really, really impressed with this win. The starters struggled, but the Super Bench came in and did a job on the Spurs in the second quarter. Then the starters did well in the 3rd, and a mixture of the starters and the bench finished things off.

It was the first tight, down to the wire game in a while, and the guys came through big time. Just so many big plays down the stretch by DIFFERENT guys. Turiaf with those two huge put-backs and another offensive rebound, Bledsoe with his superb D and offensive putbacks, and CP3 with that put-away bucket in the lane. Jamal was off tonight as the Spurs really focused on playing tough D against him, but he still made some key shots down the stretch himself.

Blake Griffin- a very good game helping carry the offense throughout. He did miss those 4 FT's, but his teammates picked him up. One thing that did bother me a bit was how he didn't shoot a couple of times when he was in the lane- didn't even look at the hoop. The Spurs defenders backed away from him fearing the drive- he MUST shoot that easy 12 footer. His buddy DeAndre Jordan had a solid game, though he needs to recognize that on the left block, Duncan is going to drive and try to bank it. Hopefully he will do better next time in that regard.

Matt Barnes- what a game- his best yet. Tons of rebounds and layups/floaters, deflections- I was getting worried about his minutes with Caron going down, but it's nice to know that Bledsoe can fill in at the 3 as well.

Chemistry is really good with this team right now- guys know their role. You know a guy like Crawford or Bledsoe are going to be aggressive, and it's great to see their teammates crash the boards because they know the ball is going up, or cut to an open spot because they could well receive an easy shot from the dribble penetration.

^ Good take. I wouldn't worry about Matty B's minutes... everyone says he's the fittest guy on the squad.

^^Oh yeah no doubt- he's an energy guy though I think too many minutes might decrease his effectiveness. He's probably going to have to play 30+ now if Caron can't go the next game. That might negatively affect the Super Bench's effectiveness/chemistry- we'll see.

Anyone know anything about Caron's status?

Not the best time for him to miss games, as Durant is coming up. Outside of Barnes, we really have no one to stick on him. Jamal, maybe? What about Blake? Dare I say... Odom?

Interesting stat from tonight - every single starter had a minus in +/- and every single bench player had a plus except Turiaf (-2)... and he came on just as the Spurs made a pair at the line.

Just throw different looks at him... Durant is a rhythm guy who can easily get frustrated.

I was driving home listening to the game on the radio. We were up double digits...as the drive was winding down so was the game. We were up and rather than turn it off and say "there it goes, i knew it was too good to be true" (like would be the case a couple years ago) as I was pulling into my driveway Chris Paul made a fadeaway jumper in the paint to seal the game for us. This game was the total opposite of every bad Clippers game of the last 3 plus years. Closed it out, proved to people we could do it on the road and on to the next one. Even though its a bit of a cliche at this point I think the only way we will lose is if we beat ourselves.

The Thunder dont have that ora of invincibility they had with James Harden and even with him we had our way with them. If we can keep this up all season...and get homecourt in the playoffs.... our dream can really come to fruition folks!

^ Just gotta bother Westbrook and he'll miss. A lot is going to depend on how the game is called. If the refs let them play, it's to our advantage.

as long as the clippers keep the defensive intensity up, we can beat the thunder. our bench needs to outscore their bench. they do have kevin martin and eric maynor, along with collison and perry jones III.

10 Day contract for Simmons. Hill will be back after the road trip.

Let Turiaf get the minutes

No matter who gets the minutes we need another body on the perimeter until Hill arrives.

Our defense was strong but they had some decent looks that they just didn't knock down. Also our D and the officiating didn't let them get into a rhythm. I'll take it, I think our athleticism will prevail over them in the long run. Chauncey and Hill will also bring much needed veteran on court intangibles for the playoffs.

Small forward Caron Butler left the game in the first half with a strained right shoulder and did not return. He is currently listed as day-to-day.

Update of First Take:

What a surprise. They didn't even bother to talk about how the Clippers beat "Skip's" Spurs. In fact, it was all about the NFL. Oh well, if the Clippers beat OKC they will have no choice but to talk about the Clippers.

Michael thompson and mark willard were discussing thetop five in the west this morning and thompson was claiming the grizzlies are the best. Willard quickly pointed out that not only did we beat memphis but we beat san antonio twice, the lakers, miami, and one of those wins against the spurs was in their home. Thompson is still in denial but willard seems to think the clippers are the best in the west right now. It seems as though this win last night convinced some but a lot of people are still in denial. A lot of attention seems to be on the lakers resurgence now that dantoni is running that show.Sad

Please don't take Thompson seriously....nobody else does.

The Lakers get the attention because that's their radio station and it's still the Lakers city.

I can understand why it would be irritating to some that we're not getting the credit we deserve, but I personally don't care. I'd rather keep flying under the radar, frankly. Because, in the end, how good we are in November doesn't really matter if we don't carry it all the way through to the end of the season. So, all I care about is that we keep winning. Everything else, including how good the so-called experts, bloggers and radio talking heads think we are, will just fall into place.

Playing with Magic and the showtime Lakers, life would be real easy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not favoring the kandi man in any way just annoyed by Thompson.

Love this team! I've been traveling for 10 days and missed a bunch of games. Just watched ATL, MIA, CHI, and then Spurs game live yesterday.

I'd have to say that was about as great as it gets. I did know we won them all so no stress until Spurs game but wow this team is just ridiculous. they set us up to play damn near every good team in the league the first month and we're killing everyone!! ATL and MIA games were truly blow outs. Meaningless points at the end tightened those scores. We totally outclassed Chicago.

And last night, AT Spurs, is one of the two or three toughest games on the schedule.

We didn't even play that well last night. Offensively seemed out of sync a lot of the game. Missed at least 5 lay ups. 1-12 from 3pt land. 17 turnovers. Caron hurt in first quarter. Missed 8 FTs including 0-4 by Blake in the 4th. The list goes on and on. We didn't even play well and still beat the Spurs on the road to go 2-0 against probably our toughest matchup in the NBA.

We are so goddamned good its amazing. And 2 of our top 8 guys still haven't played a game. Wow.

Love what Vinny's been able to do, managing minutes for 10-11 guys every night. Love the hustle and commitment to defense by the players. Love Barnes. Love Crawford and DJ. Even Lamar, who is by far still our worst player, seems to be getting better through those last 4 games.

The timeout Vinny took with 5 minutes left in the 2nd quarter was brilliant. PJ/Pops-type timing. We had made the huge run and the Spurs were on a mini 5-2 run, just trying to get their feet under them....Most coaches (including VDN pre-2012) would have let them go but he stopped the momentum before it started. Vinny is getting salty just like these players.
