---Chris Paul often leans toward getting his teammates involved early, finding a rhythm and then taking over the final 12 minutes of the game.

"I always try to get everybody involved," Paul said. "I have the ball in my hands so much I always know that I have the opportunity to score and at times we do play better if I'm a little aggressive earlier."

This season, the Clippers break even in the opening 12 minutes, registering a net zero in average first quarter scoring margin (12th in the NBA) and then edge their opponents by plus-3.8 points in the fourth quarter (2nd).

"He's usually being played a certain way in the beginning of the game and instead of being overly aggressive in those situations," Caron Butler said. "Whether he's being blitzed or hard shows [on the pick and roll], he's usually getting off the ball and creating opportunities for myself and other teammates and then obviously in the third and fourth quarter he finds a rhythm and takes over the game."

Paul feels physically up to the task of taking on an increased workload.

"There's this website where I can watch every shot that I've ever made in the NBA," Paul said, referring to Synergy Sports Technology, a subscription service that ingests and indexes real-time broadcasts. "That's all I do on the road or at home. I watch this website, just watching shots I've made, missed, turnovers, steals, assists, everything.

"I watch so much film. I watch film from me from my rookie year, my second year. I watch film all day, every day. I always tell myself, I feel better now than I did maybe three years ago, as far as my body, so why not be aggressive and be like I was in the past."

that definately bodes well for the clips to establish the pace early on in games.

Sounds good. Hope he doesn't become TOO aggressive and wear himself down, but I do like the idea of him getting in the habit of being aggressive early, so it won't be an adjustment he has to make when we get to the playoffs.

His first job is to get everybody involved, he's a pg after all. But it's a good thing he realizes he needs to be just a little more aggressive and set the tone for the rest of the team.

Thats a good thing to here. CP3 didn't always play like this. He used to be far more aggressive early before his string of injuries which forced him to adjust.

Its not going to be easy going back to his previous mindset especially since that is part of the reason why he got injured in the first place but I know he can do it.

I think he was more aggressive because the talent around him wasnt as good. With how good the clippers talent is its probably a lot of fun to pass the ball and let the other guys do their thing. I dont think it will be hard for him to come down and shoot a couple more shots arly in the game.

Thats partially it but its mostly due to injury. If Paul was still as athletic as he was in 2008 or 2009 he would be putting up something like 20/12 on the Clippers instead of 17/10 or 20/9

We shall see, hope this is true. I believe if he is, it'll open up more opportunity to get his teammates involve

His athleticism hasn't dropped off too much. He still can dunk. And the Clippers the past 2 years have so much fire power compared to Chris Paul's Hornets that he doesn't have to put up 20 a night. We're fine with him getting teammates involved and take over games when need be. Take out half of our offensive firepower and Blake would be getting 25/12 and Paul would be getting 20/11.

Well his athleticism dropped by a decent amount then he recovered a bit. He is faster this season than he was for the Hornets in 10-11. Still a bit of a dropoff. He is also not playing as hard to not risk more injury and this team is deeper than his previous teams so he does not need to.
