Shaq has been praising Blake in various ways recently. One day he'll name Blake as the best PF in the NBA, and the next he'll say that Blake will be the next player to surpass Lebron. (He says these statements in NBA open court). As of right now, Blake MAY be the best PF due to the injury of K-Love , Alridge, and Dirk.....but to say he'll be the next one to surpass Lebron? That's just absurd. Is Shaq praising Blake because he truly likes the dude? Or does he just hate Kobe so much he likes to watch him suffer as much as we do?

I reckon its because Shaq is so self obsessed/has a big ego. He'd really like to spend his time talking about he good he was but he can't. So he does the next best thing and bigs up a player that is a unique physical specimen (which like a previous poster said reminds him of himself).

Vinny's about to set the record for most consecutive wins and he's a horrible coach ha? And your profile name is based off of a fictional tv character... at least the Clipper Coach doesn't have personality issues.

His praise is probably legit but a little over exaggerated. Shaq is probably praising him so much to jab at DHoward i suspect.

My take on why Shaq likes Blake so much is that they share something in common. Shaq was a dominant center, and there was no one in the league that could stop him if he decided to go to the paint and dunk. Those dunks were always powerful and legendary. Since Shaq there has been no one in the league that could slam the ball down that rim with his level of ferocity. Until Blake came along the league was in love with Kobe's acrobatic shots and Chris Pauls clevel assists. So basically for a good amount of time the power dunk was abandoned, and even Shaq in his twilight just didnt have the athleticism to dunk them like he used to. So when Blake came in the league he was doing cartwheels on his way to the basket and using Mozgov as a human stepping ladder. In Blakes first year there was not one night in the week you didnt see a highlight reel of his amazing dunks. And the crowds reaction to the dunk was reminiscent of the reaction that Shaq garnered when he did his dunks. So if I had to read into it I think Shaq likes Blake so much because he sort of brought back a lost art that he was the last to really perfect, the amazing, but stylish slam dunk. While players have always slammed the ball down, none in the league did it like three men in history: Shaq, Dominique, and Blake.

Explain to me why Blake can't be as good as LeBron, LeBron is king I get that, but just look at yesterday's game, guys couldn't COULDN'T get past Blake, and he was guarding pgs, he was a freight train on the fast break that reminds me a little of LeBron, if Blake develops the perimeter shooting I think he Can probably be as good as LeBron.

Prior to his departure to the Celtics Shaq was trying to reconcile with the Lakers organization. i,e. saying that Kobe was actually looking to pass to him during the all star game, saying that Bynum was the best center (he was a laker at the time), saying that the problem was never really between kobe and shaq but between players and the coaching staff that couldnt mediate their time together better.

Clearly, I think his motives were to get picked up again by the Lakers so he could have a shot at another championship. Im sure his years in phoenix, cleveland, and boston were miserable because he was no where in contention for a ring.

Still, I think the Kobe thing is pretty much squashed right now. I think with Blake he just hypes him up because he was a very physical big man like himself, but unlike Dwight Blake actually is not trying to steal Shaqs identity...lmfao

Blake is very physical like Lebron, but he isnt the same level of passer as Lebron. Griffins historical stats are probably going to be close to 20PPG, 10 RPG, and 4APG. Lebrons stats are going to be 25PPG, 7RPG, 7APG, 1BPG, 1SPG. While the difference between the two doesnt seem that big with my projected stats that they will finish with Lebron just proves that he is all over the court and always finds a way to make his team better. Lebrons offense is better, passing is better, and even on the defensive end he contributes so much more than Blake. Lebron, in my opinion, is the best and most complete player in the game today. However, i like that you brought up perimeter shooting because this is the area that Blake is really closing that gap between himself and Lebron. I am really proud of Blakes shot. While I dont expect him to be as good as Lebron, Blake has impressed me so much that if he stayed at his current production he would go down as quite possibly the best player to don a Clippers jersey, but as you pointed out he has been adding many facets to his game and he can only get better.

I have to admire your persistence in some ways. Most of the VDN-hating trolls have disappeared during the win streak, but you're still around. Congratulations on being the most ridiculously obsessive about VDN being a bad coach.

Shaq praises Blake and even DJ because they are likeable. Shaq's personality is to goof off and have fun but at the same time win and dominate. Two things that Blake and the Clippers are doing!

Yeah, when will Vinny understand that what Clippers fans really want is 4 more points and 3 more rebounds from Blake instead of this stupid division-leading, win-streaking, elite-teaming nonsense.

Any more than 32 wins in a season is just greedy. Stupid winning coach.

I think that he really does respect Blake's work ethic, something Shaq never had.

The comparison to lebron is rediculous....bron basically plays guard facing the basket, dishing, or scoring....blake plays true forward, posting up and gets fed when in position....I still say he's the best pf in the league, no comparison.

Why does snaq like him? Who knows, if you wait long enough, he won't like him.........

For my money Blake is better than all three of those. Dirk is obviously a great scorer burt very slow and soft. Blake is definitely better and has much more impact on a game than either Love or Aldridge though.

even with Dirk injured I still think he's the best PF in the league today. He's just unguardable. After him, I'd give it to blake though. out of all of the other power forwards, I'd say his impact on the game is the greatest and he's more rounded than love or aldridge.

^^^ The way he's been playing this year, I think you have to throw Lee into the mix too. Guy has been on a tear, but we'll see if he keeps it up.

every one of those guys are amazing, but depending on what kind of players are around them then one will be better than the other. For example, Dirk is a shooter. He is so unique in that no other power forward can shoot like a guard the way he does. His style of play is ideal when he is complimented by a center that works inside and operates in the paint. However, a guy like blake seems to be more comfortable working inside, and while he can shoot thats not his primary weapon. Blakes style of play is really good when he has shooters around him kind of how howard played in orlando. The lane shouldnt be clogged for those two. So bottom line the right guys need to be around them for their skills to flourish

Dirk if healthy is the best but I think he is going to decline from here on out.

He was amazing in 2011 though. Sweeping the Lakers, destroying the Thunder, and embarrassing the Heat. lol

Yea David Lee has been playing at an elite level. I still have BG over him though. Its nice to see him doing well as a Knicks fan. He was a cool guy and we drafted him so it was sad to see him go. I wish we had him instead of Amare....

Yes I'm serious but not disrespectful of Dirk at all. He's an absolute amazing scorer but he's winding down, had a down year last year, and has been hurt. Who knows at this point how effective he can be. He does play slow and is somewhat soft. Blake does so many things that are just so amazing that Dirk can only dream about. I'll take Blake.

i agree. lee gets away with so much, including throwing cheap shots to clear space. dont get me wrong, the guy is skilled and is a walking double double, but griffin is far more complete, especially with griffin's improvement on the defensive side of the ball.

i think it is also the similar personalities they have, because griffin is a very charismatic and down to earth person. so is shaq, although his sense of humor matches deandre's. i would bring shaq in to teach our bigs more post moves. he seems to genuinely like the clippers.

Can't say I agree with Shaq being "down-to-Earth." This is the guy who sang about how he was the greatest of all time, screamed at Jerry Buss to "pay him" during a game, and never showed up to training camp in shape, after all.

It's not just with Griffin...he said DJ was the best center...I think it has to do with a couple of things...

1) the Kobe thing...their history...Kobe has such a bad personality (he was besties with The Mailman after all)...Griffin brings attention away from the Fakers

2) Remember he has a man crush on DJ as well...a direct shot at Dwight/Fakers.

3) the fakers thing...the way they got rid of him. chose kobe instead of him.

I like Shaq a little because he would always get in **** with Kobe...my faker friends sided with Kobe most of those years... I was hoping Dwight would do the same.

Shaq is arguably the most dominant C of all time not greatest but most dominant. He could have been even more than that if he had more work ethic. He was a known slacker and often came into the season completely out of shape.

Its a shame that we have such scrub centers today. Dwight wouldn't even be a top 3 center 20 years ago in the era where Hakeem, Ewing, DRob, and Shaq played. He is just a big fish in a small pond.

Watching Shaq and Wilt go at it would have been interesting to say the least.

I love Shaq!!!...i love praising him because it just totally just irritates the *uck out of my Flaker friends.... Smile ...

But in reality he is very likeable, which is something that Kobe has never been.....if you look at video archives of the Lakers from the SHaq/Kobe era you can clearly see that more of the players surrounded Shaq instead of Kobe....btw i wonder how the Shaq retirement game/ceremony is going to go down..that should be interesting... Shaq SUPPORTED Dwight when Stan outed to reported that Dwight told mgmt he wanted Stan fired...of course it was probably due to the fact that Shaq got in a fight with Barkley on the court once...or that Shaq ALSO got Stan fired in Miami

Back in the day when I first became a Laker fan, it was Shaq that reeled me in. Yes, he was arrogant, but he backed it up by being the most dominant specimen the NBA has ever seen. The man got it done and his clutch play was severly underrated. As bad as he was at free throws, he managed to hit them when they were needed. Despite his childish antics, one thing I admired was that he was able to put that aside and come to the games focused and competitive. It was Kobe(and a combination of DMiles, Q, Odom) that drew me away from the Lakers and went towards the Clippers side.

Technically, I should hate Shaq and love Kobe. Shaq turned me into a Laker fan and Kobe indirectly turned me into a Clippers fan.
