It's our new friend Arash refuting all the tired old "comebacks" that us Clippers fans constantly hear from fans of Los Angeles' 2nd best team...

16 banners, bandwagon, etc, etc... he addresses it all. Pretty funny, really.

great find. i particularly find it amusing that laker fans think we are bandwagon fans. i love the words chosen by markazi "if anything clippers fans are taking the road less traveled" it doesnt take much to root for the lakers they have always won and they havent truly been in a position where their fans loyalty was put to the test.

If we're bandwagon fans, then we must've loved the Lakers before. You stupid ****ing imbeciles. The Laker fan base is one of the most, if not the most, plastic fan bases in all of sports. So who are they to call other fans bandwagoners?

The Laker homers on 570 this afternoon were giving us long time fans props for sticking with this team when they were awful. Saying it would have been easy to jump onto the Laker bandwagon with their championship runs but many of we die hard stuck it our anyway and we are now reaping our rewards (they are split 4-50- who will win tonight). They gave us props for that,,,then gave us heck because this is not our town until we raise a banner blah blah blah and you know what,,,,most of us don't care. I really personally could care less if someone want to climb the roof of Staples wearing their purple pants and scream this is their town. Fine. whatever. We still have a better ball club NOW and I live in the NOW.

Great article! He nails it perfectly! " Many Lakers fans were essentially born on the bandwagon -- their team has contended for a championship every year they've been alive. It's not hard to root for a winner." I always tell these idiots this. Whats so fun about rooting for a team like this. I appreciate a team that works and works and eventually becomes great. I've been a fan since 99 and I guarantee that the joy I've already experienced and will experience with clippers success this season will be way deeper than any Laker fan around my age or younger even if you take all their championships combined. Because my joy will have been hard earned and THAT is the difference.

I was trolling a laker fan on the ESPN board yesterday...

Laker fan: "Lakers run L.A. just look at all the statues outside Staples."

Me: "Plenty of statues in the laker defense, too."

Just thought I'd share. Please feel free to use it whenever they bring up the statues.

We should turn this thread into a collection of "best comebacks".

I think CP3 broke the Lakers' heart. My LAL friends at work have nothing to say. Many understand that this incarnation of LAL is gone. Some still keep saying that CP3 wanted to be a LAL. Now NO WAY. They ALL admit that CP3 punked Kobe. Kobe admitted that he got punked. I tell them D12 is going to the Rockets and they don't argue.

Nash will retire, D12 to Houston, They have Linn and Harden and a ton of cap and players will want to go there. Pau's contract is $19.2Mil and Kobe is $30 Mil. You can't dump Pau and no FA will want to play for a team with no players in 2014-15. Who will want to play with Kobe for one year.

Barring Clipper Luck this team will win a ring in three years.

I love alcohol

A 16 year old boy went out to sea as a cabin boy. At 16 he was really horney. He asked the first mate what they did for sex. The first mate pointed to a barrel. There was a long line and each one stuck it in the hole in the barrel. He decided to try. It was the best sex he ever had. He was in line for the next five days. On day six the first mate tapped him on the shoulder. He said "Get out of the line. It's your turn in the barrel"

Well Kobe and the Lakers it's your turn in the barrel. Can we buy you some Listerine?

Laker fans and double-standard:

"Hey Giant fans, you only have 2 World Series titles. We got 5!" (Giants have 7 titles and the Dodgers have 6, including the New York days for both teams)

"Lakers have 16 titles. Wake me up when you surpass that." (First 5 titles were won in Minneapolis)

I'm a huge Dodger fan but it's safe to say that I hate the majority of my fellow Dodger fans because they're Laker fans. Hell, I hate the Lakers more than the Giants right now.

Clippers ARE getting bandwagon fans now. Every WINNING team gets them. Chicago, then the Lakers, then Miami, and now the Clippers. It comes with the game. On this board, I'm sure were 99% old school fans, but we gotta welcome in the new fans for now...if we start losing, they'll leave. no harm no foul.

This will never happen because of the great number 8

Paul always say "our team' and "we". Kobe says "my team"

D12 was told in no uncertain terms that it was #8's team and he would sniff arse. CP3 always has BG with him.

Chemisty? D12 Forget about. Houston girls are really hot. BBQ beef brisket goes great with a peroxide blond with DDD implants. Sh*t Howdy

If Dwight leaves this offseason after the Lakers finish in the lottery, that's just too good to be true. Everybody talking about Dallas/New Jersey but I think Houston definitely could have a chance to make space...And there you have a legit all-star entering his prime to play with for 5 years...And they're already pretty good. I think the Laker uniform is going to be too much pressure for Dwight. He's not that type of guy. He needs to be in mid major market like one one of the Texas teams. And either way, you have a good owner. As the losses pile up, the chances get better and better.

this is totally something we talked about on our podcast this week... Clipper fan to Laker fan ratio was close to 50-50 on Friday night at Staples, and the Laker fans were surprisingly loud during those comebacks. it seems a bit strange to see this matchup with the Lakers as the underdogs now and the Clippers with more to lose in terms of momentum and pride points.

we also talked about when Kobe had his jersey in his mouth during that jumper in the 4th quarter and how it surely made 50,000+ Laker bros collectively bust one. that whole sequence made Kobe look like the star player on a high-school varsity team out of a tacky early 90's basketball movie that Vanilla Ice would have probably starred in.

anyway, check out the podcast at Clippstream[.]com and send us some mail to Clippstream@gmail, we want you in on the conversation.

I would take a guess and say that about 60-70% of the Lakers' vocal fan base is comprised of people who don't really know anything at all about basketball and think that Kobe hero-balling every night is good for the team and that everyone else isn't picking up their load. one of the things you have to deal with living in LA (other than the worst traffic in the western hemisphere) is the constant commentary from Laker fans of all ages, sizes and backgrounds. and after hearing it for 23+ years of my life it all sounds the f#$*ing same at this point, Arash hit it right on the head.

I honestly think Lakers management is sitting out Pau and Dwight so they'll have more excuses to throw at the press.

PS: Somewhere out there, someone whose name sounds like Dawndawn Gameson is jumping on his couch with joy, with the expectation of finally getting some burn.

So what's the Lakers starting lineup now? Kobe, Nash MWP, Jame-o, and some tall stiff? I predicted at the beginning of the season that the Lakers depth is embarrassingly shallow that they can't afford to lose a starter due to an injury, let alone your starting front court and a major rotation player.

BINGO!

I try really hard to avoid all things Purple and Piss, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't take joy and glee in seeing the Lakers self-destruct the way they are right now. It's almost like it was ten years ago when Kobe's legal troubles plus his feud with Shaquille was at its absolute peak, and it pretty destroyed the team for a few years.

I've always said that they are different types of Lakers fans: the die-hards, the Kobe fans that claim that they're Lakers fans (the worst kind IMO), the Kobe-only fans, and the bandwagoners, which is practically the same as the second description except they root simply because they're a L.A team, but not as a hardcore.
