if he gets the open shots hes been getting lately, and knocks half of them down, he could go for at least 15

I'd take Jamal's customary 16 from him and be very happy about it.

More realistic is score 10 on 30 percent shooting and get burned by 40. SMH Willie...

well he is guarding kobe, so he may get burned, but if he makes kobe work for everything, and kobe has to shoot 35 to 40 times to score 35, we will be fine

Clippers Vs. Warriors Game preview

By NICOLINO DIBENEDETTO Posted Jan 05 2013 3:13AM The Pacific Division-leading Los Angeles Clippers have only lost eight games this season, but two have come at the hands of Stephen Curry and the surprising Golden State Warriors.

One was just three days ago.

Curry and the Warriors look to beat the Clippers again in order to match their longest winning streak of the season Saturday night at Staples Center.

Los Angeles (26-8 ) leads the division by three games on second-place Golden State (22-10), one of the biggest surprises in the NBA since it's reached the playoffs once in 18 seasons.

The Warriors' impressive turnaround has them one win shy of matching their total from all of last season, their first under coach Mark Jackson.

Jackson has them in position for a third win in a row over the Clippers after Curry poured in 31 points with eight assists, while hitting 11 of 16 from the floor - 6 of 8 from beyond the arc - in a 115-94 win against them Wednesday.

"The Clippers didn't need to beat us to validate that they're a good basketball team, and we didn't need to beat them to validate that we're one," Jackson said. "Two teams that are going to be around.

"To us, it was another basketball game. Another opportunity to get better."

Curry continues to do that in what's turning out to be his best season since being selected seventh overall out of Davidson in 2009. The point guard leads the team with career highs of 20.4 points per game and 6.5 assists.

He was key to winning the season's first meeting with the Clippers on Nov. 3, scoring 23 points in a 114-110 final at Staples Center.

The Warriors haven't won both season meetings on the road in this series since 2002-03, and doing so would also equal their season-high five-game winning streak set from Dec. 5-12.

Golden State, though, isn't expecting to find welcoming hosts.

"Going back to their place on Saturday, we know it's going to be a dog fight again, and they're going to be ready and make adjustments," said forward David Lee, who had 24 points and 13 rebounds Wednesday for his 20th double-double.

Lee is second on Golden State with an average of 20.2 points and fifth in the league with 11.1 boards, but he wasn't nearly that effective offensively at Staples Center in November, scoring eight points with 12 rebounds.

While Curry and Lee give the Warriors a tremendous one-two scoring punch, the Clippers have their own in guard Chris Paul and forward Blake Griffin.

Griffin is averaging 17.6 points and 8.6 rebounds, while Paul is scoring 16.7 and his 9.3 assists are second in the NBA.

Both were vital to Los Angeles bouncing back from its latest defeat to Golden State on Friday. Paul had a season-high 30 points with 13 assists and Griffin added 24 points in a 107-102 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

That was a welcome change for Griffin after he totaled 29 points over the previous three games, including 10 on Wednesday while making just 2 of 11 from the field and struggling versus Lee.

"Those guys have been resting since they played us a few nights ago," said Paul, who has totaled 50 points in two season meetings with Golden State. "It's our home game and we've got to take the momentum and beat them."

Despite the Clippers and Warriors seemingly pulling away from the rest of the pack in the division race, Jackson is playing down any talk of a burgeoning rivalry.

"We're just two teams that's trying to change our recent history and build something from this day forward," he said. "Now, where it goes from there, I think it can be exciting and we both have staying power, but neither one of us have done anything yet."

I love the new look of the NBA, bad teams are now good, the lakers suck, and it's a PG and PF driven league (which are the two best positions IMO). Clippers and GSW have the best PG/PF combo in the game.

We need to play like we hate the warriors. We SHOULD hate the warriors. By this I dont necessarily mean flagrant fouls every trip down (although we should commit a few if necessary), but I mean to never let off of the throttle. Go at them 110% and play with passion. Play with a mindset to DESTROY them.

even though we face GSW for the 3rd time as a 2nd of a back to back, i feel like going with the clips this time is probably one of the safest bets in vegas. 104-97, clips.

I know its not a popular stance, but I am from St. Louis and David Lee grew up here. He is kind of a hometown legend in basketball, so I personally like him. buuuut, I can see why most Clipper fans don't. You gotta admit though, that white boy can ball lol

Personally I like him. My Knicks drafted him after all. Really a steal considering where he was drafted. At first he was nothing special but he really worked hard on developing his game. He learned to be a more consistent and dangerous scorer, a good rebounder, became a quality playmaker and now he is even playing defense.

Man what I would do to have him in place of Amare Stoudemire right now.

Right now though he is kind of pissing me off since he is punking BG and owning us. Hopefully that changes tonight. lol

Yeah, this schedule was designed to give GSW a chance to beat us. They get a nice little rest while we have to play them on the second night of a back-to-back. Oh well, great teams find a way to win.

Kobe actually barely took any shots when Green was defending him in the 1st quarter(not due to his defense mind you). Not really fair to blame Green when Kobe torched Barnes as well.

Green was our best defender against Kobe. It was Barnes, Butler, or CP3 on switches who were getting torched by Kobe. Green was actually getting in Kobe's face early on and made Kobe miss some easy shots.

IMO, this is the biggest game of the year so far. Huge. As close to must win as we've had all year. This has been an extremely tough stretch to start the year and if we get the win tonight we went 2-2. That is a total success considering we just won 17 straight. After tonight a lot of rest and practice and a couple easy home games. Should be great for the team to get Billups and GHill back on the floor at probably our slowest time of the season as far as playing only 2 relatively easy home games in the next 8 days. By the time we go to Memphis next Monday we could very well have the complete roster available for the first time all year.

Leave it all on the floor tonight! Plenty of time to rest up afterwards! Cannot lose 3 to our primary division rival. Intensity for 48 minutes and we got this!!

lol why does Del Negro keep pretending that Willie Green is a starter? Everyone and their mother knows that Crawford is 10x better than Green. Why dont they just stop trying to protect Willie's ego and make Crawford the starter. On any other team, Willie would struggle just to crack the top 8 rotation.

We have enough offense in the starting lineup for Willie to start. Why would anybody mess with the best 2nd unit in the league? Who else on our bench can get their own shot in the half court? And Jamal plays bigger minutes and closes games anyway.

With Chauncey still out, the player rotations are as good as they can be.
