Anybody heard mike dunleavy's interview at am 570 about the cp3 trade?

Basically, he said that Stern did the right thing and he explained it well. He said that the nba would have scared potential buyers if the trade go thru since New Orleans will be stuck with players with long contract earning 10+ mil.

Plus he pretty much said that the trade was never finalized since it didn't go thrust proper approval procedure.

If I paraphrased it wrong can anybody that heard the interview add on or correct me

MDL was never a bad coach. He just wasn't a great coach. But he is a wise man and knows his suit. I'd love for him to be a basketball analyst.

Does he still live in the LA area?

And jarca, when did this interview happen? I'm trying to find it on the 570 website.

Just listened to it. LOL @ Money Smith getting his panties in a bunch after Dunleavy said he sent the text to Stern. And then he toned down when Dunleavy schooled him on the details on why he didn't like Paul's trade to the Lakers.

Listen, you stupid schmuck Laker fans (the Laker trolls from LTB, Lakersground, that lurk here). That would've been a bad deal for the Hornets. The Lakers did not mortgage any future. The players you gave up were aging (Gasol and Odom) and you're gonna get Chris Paul for them? STFU. Not to mention that the players the Hornets would've received also were aging with the exception of Dragic (who was on his contract year). They would've recieved Odom, Scola, and Kevin Martin - all players who no longer have room to improve. Plus, with expensive salaries, too. And the draft pick they would've had was from Houston (via the Knicks). Yes, the Knicks, who were a playoff team so there was no chance to get a lottery pick if that was the pick they would've received. You dumbasses tell me that that would've been a better attraction to a potential new owner than a young star-in-the-making in Gordon, a lottery pick that still has a lot of time to pan out in Aminu, a solid (and an all-star just two years prior) center in Kaman, and an unprotected lottery pick that could've easily been in the top 5? Give. Me. A. ****ing. Break.

Dunleavy currently co-hosts a basketball show on SiriusXM Radio a couple of days a week. I've heard him a few times there...he's not bad there.

Dunleavy was a very good coach. He just got worn out and the players got tired of hearing him. It happens sometimes when a coach has been in one spot for awhile.

He was a pretty good GM for us too, i thought better than as a coach. Got some good players in here during his time.

Ekker,

Dunleavy eventually lost control of the locker room so regardless of how good of a coach he was it was the right move

But now that your on the other side you want to claim moral victories but still harp on your 16 banners! Now almost winning is exceptable wow have the mighty fallen smh

Dunleavy did some good for this franchise. He drafted Blake, Jordan, and Gordon. Blake was particularly a difficult decision too. Despite him being the consensus #1 pick there were other attractive options at the point guard position (Rubio, Evans...etc), and this was very appealing because we were already strong at the PF position with Zach Randolph and our blatant need was point guard (due to the fact that BDavis didnt pan out).

I was a strong advocate for Rubio because Davis was not living up to his contract, and as we all know a team needs to have a strong point guard in order to thrive. Despite Blakes freakish ability and strong work ethic a team is more benefitted by a good point guard rather than a good power forward, but Dunleavy went with the clear cut decision, and the right one now that we have all seen the Rubio dilemma and constant injury bug hes been prone to.

In that regard thank you Mike Dunleavy

Dunlevy's biggest mistake was signing Baron Davis and trading Zach. I was big on keeping Zach at the time, but I see he was trying to give Blake playing time. But Blake got injured and the Clippers took a dive and it cost him his job.

Baron was no good, as much of a fan as I was. He was a good coach.

^ We should've gotten a 1st round pick for Randolph. Him for Quentin Richardson (whom we traded days later for Craih Smith, Mark Madsen, and Sebastian Telfair). What a steal Randolph was for the Grizz. Trading Zach wasn't the mistake. It's what we got for him was.
