anyone else secretly miss the losing seasons? i hate going into a game and expecting to win easily. there's no fun in it. if we win, its like "yeah we're supposed to win games by 10 now." if we lose, its like "yeah, no biggie we'll win the next 10 easily". there's no sense of urgency of "we gotta win this" day in and day out. is it the irrelevance of meaningless games in mid-january? hopefully things pick up when games actually matter.

hell, games against the lakers are not even that important anymore considering they're in shambles. heck, i even got tired of watching the lakers lose since they keep losing.

(on another note, we need the lakers to be good. well at least i do. we need a villain around to keep things interesting. i said it before but its like watching an action movie except there's no villain. like watching star wars but without a dude like darth vader trying to stir things up. like rocky boxing around the local gyms without guys like apollo creed, mr t., or ivan drago around to pose a threat).

on the other hand, im just not feeling it this year and it sucks considering how we'll this team is playing. ive honestly never felt this apathetic about a clipper season EVER - and its bothersome considering we're straight BALLING this year. maybe its the fact that everyone's a clipper fan now and that takes away the exclusivity that once made clipper nation so personal. maybe its just the regular season - i know for a fact that once the playoffs kick in (and every game is HUGE) i'll get my clipper mojo back.

clipper nation seems just so washed out. clipper gear everywhere. clippers this, clippers that. lob city here, lob city there. kids trying to set people straight on the clippers. its gone the way of bieber. being a clipper fan isnt what it once was. some might say that's a good thing, but believe it or not, those days were FUN. FUN. FUN.

(and for the record, i despise the term "lob city". and never was a fan of "tribe called bench". what's with all these nicknames, tag lines, and the commercialization of the clippers? why cant things just be kept real?)

end rant.

peace. go clippers.

Ekker- yeah I think a lot of the long term Clipper fans were just so used to rooting for the underdog team. During the win streak, things started to get a bit mundane as we were blowing teams out with ease. But come on, the last two games- you can't be apathetic about those. Those were two extremely difficult contests, similar to what we will see in the playoffs.

I get that same feeling. There is sadness when we lose, and very little satisfaction from winning unless its a great team. No more moral victories is also something that I've noticed.

only thing that's changed for me, is before this season I felt Clipper Nation was more of a family, now not so much lol. Probably because of the bandwagon and all that

The only thing that bums me out is Staples Center is too fracking crowded now. I was used to having no one around, empty seats, peace and quiet. Now you even have to wait in line for restrooms sometimes.

I never get tired of losing and don't care who we have to crush. Yeah,,beating the elite is amazing,,but winning is winning and I do get bummed out when we lose a game. Moreso then I used to because I used to never counted on us winning before so when we did it was a pleasant suprise.

I think it may bum out most long time fans because we have devoted so much time into watching and waiting and it feels wrong to have the new fans grieve over a loss because they are just not used to being the NBA's doormat as a lot of us were used to.

Ekker.....

You are clearly forgetting about the Warriors/Clipper rivalry that has blossomed. Any idea how insane it would be if we met them in the playoffs? Keep your head up man!

If it is any consolation, we are on a 2 game losing streak if that helps lol

Just wait to the playoffs. That is what we have become, so good regular season doesn't matter anymore. that is a good thing!

i agree. i did enjoy the underdog status, however i didnt enjoy dealing with the s*** that i got from the flaker fans. i repped the clips so hard to the point that like i mentioned before, ive thrown down defending the clips. yeah, i agree that some fans on here feel like the season is over just cuz we lose to good teams, with our best player out or hobbled. but i think i speak for everyone on here that we want to win a title this year if possible. maybe thats why some fans have some sort of fatalistic vision if we lost. however, that is no excuse to constantly start dumbass threads like "fire vdn", especially when we are 32-11.

I have been a long time clipper fan (as can be seen by when I joined this site, although i was a fan long before that as well).

I am a supporter of the underdog, that is why i became a clipper fan and why i am sure many of us did. That being said, and i was telling my wife this the other day when i told her i was going to fly to LA if we got the the finals, this is a really special time for us. Who knows if we will continue to have this success? So, we need to enjoy it while we have it cus any day it could all go away. Thats why I am going to the finals this year if we get there (i told my wife if I could get tickets and a flight for less than $1g i am in).

I am not a clip fan cus I am a laker hater, I am just a clip fan, and am going to enjoy the hell out of this ride right now.

While I do understand the meaning of being a Clipper fan, which I was one since LO was a Rookie. I remember whenever the Clippers won a game, it was a special day.

BUT!!! I'm also sick and tired of losing year in and year out. I was sick of young talent slipping out of our hands and/or getting injured (Livingston, Miles, etc.) I was sick of the horrible draft picks (Kandiass, Wilcox, DMiles, Livingston, Korolev, etc). Just having a shot at making the playoffs was considered a successful season. Us Clippers fans have been dreaming that one day, the Clippers would finally win the elusive title.... CLIPPERS... CHAMPIONS.... SAME SENTANCE, and would only happen if we threw in NBA Live/2k. And for once, it is reality and the Clippers actually do have a legit shot at winning the NBA World Championship. Instead of hating the bandwagoners, Bieber, etc. we should embrace it.

Although, I do agree with the Lakers sucking so bad. Even though I am happy to see the Lakers in an utter mess and seeing Laker fans lose their mind, as a basketball fan, I would rather have seen the Lakers live up to their expectations and fight the Clippers and OKC for the best record and an epic storybook series late in the Playoffs.

Nope. Not bummed at all. Looking forward to the next multi-game streak where we routinely crush teams.

And, for the record, everyone is not a Clippers fan. There's still waaaayyyyy more Lakers fans in this town. Personally, I don't know anyone that has switched allegiences or all of a sudden become a Clippers fan. Even if I did, it wouldn't effect how I feel about the team or this season in the slightest. I root for the Clippers because I like the team and enjoy watching and talking basketball. I don't root for the Clippers because I think it makes some kind of statement about who I am.

Ekker is the resident Debbie Downer of CTB, but I never thought he could go this extreme.

1) There's no fun in winning easily? Really? We're talking about a franchise that has an all-time winning percentage of below .400 (below .400, not just .500!) and all of a sudden, winning gets tiresome? What the hell?

2) We need the Lakers to be good? Really? A franchise that has missed the playoffs 5 freaking times and we need them to be good? This season is the rarest of the rare, meaning we are a playoff contender while the Lakers are well-below .500. In the past, if we were good, they were also good (and better). It was never us on the top and them on the bottom. So enjoy this while it lasts. We don't need a villain because the Lakers will always be villains to us and we should enjoy every second of their suffering.

3) The Clippers will always be the underdogs to me, but I am done with the underdog role. It has gotten us nowhere and I will embrace the role of Goliath any day of the week.

4) Stop being nostalgic about our losing seasons. Nothing was fun about seeing our team average 25 wins a season. What in God's name is wrong with you?

Ekker if you really want to cheer for a real losing team, you don't have to look far and cheer for Bobcats. I'm sure you could get satisfactions from those losing team. If anything, I think most Clippers fan here taking this winning season for granted. When the last time we were this dominant? NEVER!! This is what are we waiting for a very long time and I'm soaking in every seconds of this beautiful season. I'm such in happy stage right now. Well actually not right now, those last two losses bum me out. I know it was back to back and against two toughest team (Warriors and Thunders), but last night against Thunder made me realize we're not there to their level yet. We need that swagger (beside Cp3 and Billups) to hit clutch shots and play insufferable defense. If anything, our three point defense need to improve or stars like Kevin Durant will blow us out of the water again.

But overall, this is such a fun season and I will never trade this season for any season.

Ekker, I know what you mean in a way. Part of the reason why most of us became Clipper fans is the underdog element. It was no fun (to me) being a Laker fan where every game you expect to win and if you don't its a no big deal because you know you will make playoffs and turn it on whenever you want. Lakers always got good players because players took paycuts to play for them. And the league seems to always favor them. The new Clippers on the other hand are starting to taste similar success (just starting tho)... we have yet to REALLY make noise in the playoffs and string multiple consecutive great seasons. Think about all the painful years and enjoy this season of domination because you and many of us deserve it.

Why can't we enjoy the success our team is having right now? Is it really that hard? It is the very first season in our history that we have been this dominant, it's not like we have had this success for the past 10 years. I am enjoying every minute of the season. If for some strange reasons this team goes downhill once again and it goes back to the 25-win seasons, I will cheer for them the same way I have for the past 10 years.

Though I do miss affordable games as well haha

I still believe we're the underdog. I don't even see a lot of people wearing any Clipper gear. Maybe I have seen a shirt or hat, here and there by someone, and I always give them a fist pound and say go Clips... But, its still extremely RARE. Clip fans show up to staples for games, but are still an extremely rare thing to see in public. I still see Lacker gear EVERYWHERE ... We are years away from actually becoming less rare. So I still feel fine, and special when I wear my Clip gear.

It's practically impossible to be a big city team that's winning and not have the commercialization that comes with it. After fighting it, I've come to accept the bandwagoners, nicknames, commercials and nationwide attention that comes with winning.

I also agree w/ jarca... We are still the perpetual underdogs until we win it all.

1000000% Agree!!!

But We Do Need The Lakers To Do Good, Only So We Can Trash Talk Each Other Down On Which Team We Beat. Its No Fun That They're A Below .500 Team After Parading That This Might Of Been The BEST Laker Team Ever Promos!

Never Mind, I Want The Lakers To Suck!

its not like the winning is making me upset or depressed- of course not. you better believe im relishing the fact that we're one of the best teams in the league. w/o a doubt.

all im saying is that all this winning has put me in "cruise control". as a result, for the first time in maybe EVER i dont find myself in "super nerded-out die hard mode". in most every other year, i would watch every minute of every game throwing fits if the clips didnt win a game when they were 20 games under .500. so while it was losing, it was also incredibly fun (especially since we had nowhere to go but up - and that came easily since a win over a mediocre team could possibly get you national attention - and that was a HUGE deal. .

now, if im gonna be able to watch a game i wont even DVR it, ill just catch up in the 4th quarter or whatever - considering there's a small chance the clips will be behind. when you're the best team in the league, its hard to consider regular season games as important or even relevant. the national attention's already there, there's no regular season games to really look forward too, etc.

so dont get me wrong. when we win a ring (notice i said "when" not "if), ill be the first person down on figueroa, waving a clipper jersey and doing cartwheels. i love this team, i love that they're winning, but I'm just in blah mode right now. the playoffs seem so far away.

I don't feel bummed out at all this year what so ever. Yes I loved rooting for the underdog and for whatever reason we're still looked at like that by many. I do expect the Clippers to win games by blow out numbers on certain games and I also expect them to have tough grind out games. Just because we're winning now doesn't mean we're all of a sudden not the Clippers and are some completely different franchise all together. Now that we win I'm much more critical of every single possession we have, looking at it that way is just as entertaining as it was rooting for the underdog Clips. The only thing that I'm bummed out about is that the ticket prices have gone up but I know that comes with the succes so I'll just enjoy the games from my couch and listen to Ralph yell bingo and slaaaaaaaam dunk! I love finally being able to see the Clippers dominate and we're way past due for it. There was nothing amazing about the losing years, it sucked and hurt watching the Clips struggle and I be damned if I praise those days. We're on to bigger and better things. It's like leaving an ugly witch looking girl and getting an amazingly hot one and being upset that you don't have to f*ck her without a paper bag over her head, it plain and simple does not make sense.

The only thing I'm sorta bummed out about is not getting a top pick in the draft. It was pretty cool to dream about who we could get, and what they'd turn out to be. Granted only a handful of the guys we've taken over the years have done anything but I look at guys like Nerlens Noel, Shabbazz mUhammed and that Zeller kid and think we could use those guys.

Only way I'll be bummed out this year is if we don't make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs, OR if we lose to Miami in the NBA Finals. I can't stand Miami and losing to them would infuriate me.

I'm not bummed out because of this: I feel like each losing season that we suffered-being ridiculed in the press and in public for loving this team- is now being made up. This year is incredible because none of us long-time clipper fans have felt this before. We're not used to being talked about as a title contender. We're not used to winning streaks and leading the league in ticket sales. This is the time we should be proud of our dedication and be happy of how far we've come. In twenty years, we will no longer talk about Darius Miles and Q-Rich, but we'll remember our runs with CP3 and Blake Griffin.

This season is magical, and doesn't come around that often for a team like the clippers. Let's make the most out of it and enjoy every second of it.

Just change the perspective. I still DVR every game, and on the season have maybe missed about 6 games.

Instead of it being whether we can squeak out or steal a win from a better team, look at the bigger picture for "motivation". Each win matters to get a number 1 seed. That helps keep me as interested as ever.

This is by far one of the loudest cry for help online I've ever seen. It's almost like being sad that your dad is finally trying to spend time with you after years of neglect and you just can't be satisfied. It's this kind of kid that's not deserving the kind of love and luck their parents are trying to share with them. One day that love that couldn't satisfy you will completely die off and you will be completely fucked! This might be an oxymoron, but this a case of being a SPOILED LOSER! LOL

Ekker you are too funny, maybe your hat has done permanent damage to your brain. I unfortunately live down in the OC and when I go into a sporting goods store its 90% Laker gear, granted there are now 2 varieties of hats instead of maybe 1 but still a loooong way off from the Lakers. Conversely, I like my teams to win, I really don't relish those days thinking, man if Clips can win 3 of their next four they'll be only 5 games out of the 8th PO spot, or that this season they may finish only 10 games under .500. For me the NBA seasons were much shorter then, by the All Star break they would be eliminated and my only hope was for players to actually give a sh!t and go out and earn their paychecks instead of mailing it in and half @ssing it. I really don't miss bad basketball at all, with a roster full of selfish, lazy individuals who used the Clippers as just a rest stop until their next gig. The only thing that bugs me is this under swell of unrealistic expectations for players i.e. the whole DJ, Green, Caron, Vinny suck crowd. Or the Blake should grab 25 rebs and average 30/20, he doesn't hustle, plays no d, and can't do it in crunch time folks. They kinda bum me out because obviously they have forgotten (or were never there) what the past was like and are starting to act like spoiled delusional entitled douches criticizing a team that has won absolutely nothing yet. I am all for criticism but common folks the Clips have one of the best records and rosters in the entire NBA and they are at least in the conversation with all of the other elite teams. Lets just enjoy the ride.

On the subject of Lakers need to be good because the Clips need a villain, I can't get with that, really I can't, I despise them way too much. The only thing better than a Laker loss is a Clipper win. There are plenty of rivalries brewing and players that are easy to despise that will be around for the next decade. Comon' how great will the OKC, GSW, Clipper regular season and playoff match ups be? All three are relatively young and deep, the GSW fans are some of the most annoying in all of sports, and OKC has Westbrook and Martin which are easy to dislike. This will be a gift that keeps giving for years and years.

I completely understand and sometimes feel the same way. But then I realize that I gotta appreciate this season because we are looking at our best year EVER and we have suffered so much that we deserve this. The real fans atleast.

The bandwagoning was cool but you know what really grinds my gears? When Bandwagon Clipper fans try to TALK TO ME about my team or make an argument like If I am a bandwgoner like them wtf!!! hahah Its funny but it is really annoying.

Everytime I watch a game and I see it packed I am like "man where were all these fans when the seats were empty and we sucked?" Cause I always remember they didnt even open the middle levels behind the Hoop alot of times and I would see a whooooole lot of purple. I also remember going to the games and looking around and being like "this is it?" I mean its cool cause I know it helps our team cause as much as they will never say it having a lively crowd and enthusiasm helps ALOT. We never really truly had homecourt until this year you can argue.

But yeah it is impossible not to notice all these things. I see people out in public with Clippers stuff and I am like wtf! Haha It is not like before that I would get excited when I would see people with CLipper gear cause I knew we sucked, now I just think "damn bandwagoners" ... another thing.

I remember for as long as I have been a fan there was neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeveeeeeeeeeeeeeer Clipper gear or stuff anyyyyyyyywhere ever. I remember I would get excited whenever I would see anything Clippers anywhere (something as simple as a coffee mug or something) and I would automatically buy it because it always seemed like man they might never make this item again. And now we are everywhere. Again, I LIKE IT, but yeah sometimes it is hard to ignore how far we have come.

But personally... I rather us be this good year in and year out than sucking. All our horrible no name players and horrible PGs like Rick Brunson throughout the years and I remember when we got Baron Davis I was like "wow can we get on another Sam Cassell type run!!?" And I looked forward to the season and if I remember correctly (IT HAS BEEN A WHILE) I remember the first game (or an early game) with Baron he drove down the paint and dunked it emphatically and i Looked at my brother and was like "oh my god this is our year!" "This year is going to be different!!" ...and Bam... 50 games pass and we are the same ole Clippers plus a couple exciting plays here and there. Those plays were fine and dandy but I wanted to win. I got tired of winning 1 or 2 games and losing 10. I remember one year I just gave up cause I got tired of it. The year Blake got injured his rookie year when he dunked it on a fastbreak and landed ackwardly I called my friend and was like "I BET YOU BLAKE GRIFFIN IS OUT FOR THE YEAR" and low and behold soon after they announced it. It is not like I am some big prophet or something but as a Clippers fan that is the type of bad luck we were so used to. That year was the only year I missed a whole bunch of games during the season. At the halfway point of that season I just stopped watching and caring. I think I just saw like the last couple games of the season and thats it.

Like I tell all my bandwagon friends, "The difference between a real Clippers fan and a Bandwagoner is that the bandwagoner has hope." Ha...and it is true. They have hope because they have never experienced the heartbreak and pathetic years we did and the fact that in the end something would always would go wrong because well it was ..The Clippers. Atleast IT WAS TRUE. There are still those moments were hopelessness as Clippers fan rears its head but I think that with Blake being here a while no matter what we are not going to go back to those 20-30 win seasons. The records of futility, Ralph and Mike blabbing about random things because we are down by 20, empty seats, being on the losing end of buzzer beaters, not even getting a shot off when a game is on the line.......
