yup, I'd agree, they did look good. IMO, as much as i liked seeing them crumble, I had a bit of a feeling things would turn for them for a bit. We'll see if they can sustain it, they had a win streak earlier in the season, but that didn't last long.

agreed. their win tonight just put them in a two way tie with dallas for the 10th seed. if i recall correctly, only 8 teams get into the playoffs. lol. i mean, if they were in the east then u could make this statement, but they are not, so yeah they havent done s*** yet

and if OKC shot like that against the Clips, they would have gotten blown out. Clips just caught OKC on the wrong night and the Lakers and GSW caught them on the right night.

I think they're playing better because their key guys are figuring out their roles... the flipside is that you're supposed to do that earlier in the season, in the first 4-6 weeks of play. OKC also had a REALLY off shooting night from road fatigue, especially Westbrook who normally dominates the Lakers. MWP also had one of his better shooting nights, so if he keeps spotting up on the weak side those are open shots I can live with over the long run. They still have plenty of defensive weaknesses that can be exploited, I didn't feel their bigs were hedging any more than usual on PnR defense to help out Nash. Give it another week, and other teams will figure out how to beat this 'new' Lakers team.

Too little too late at this point. Even with all cylinders hitting, I don't see this team winning at a 70% rate for the rest of the season, particularly with a lot of road games coming up.

I'm 50/50 on this one. I would love to see them out of the playoffs, but then if they do make it, there is a high chance that we play them, and nothing would be better than kicking them out of the playoffs.

They still have a lot of things to figure out, and are still 6 games behind .500 so there is really nothing impressive going on there.

put it this way, if the flakers dont go 6-2 on their road trip, they are done. they are 19-25. lets say they go 4-4. they will be 23-29. with 30 games left. not going to happen

Just like every fan of any team, when there are good things happening, hope builds up. With the Lakers, their hope is not just to get into the playoffs, but to be CONTENDERS... something we've only had a year of experience with.

With that said, you can't rely on pure hope. But it's good to have nice thoughts isn't it?

Ugh I want them to go back to being bad. Everyone is moving the ball...I wonder how long Kobe will be content to not shoot the ball

Meh I'm not concerned about them.... I always figured it would be a matter of time before they start putting it together but like Bullterrier said, I think it might be too little too late. Would be nice to see them squeak into playoffs only for us to snuff them out.

No. Deeply flawed team, egotistical/ delusional/ ballhogging superstar. Bad fit of coach to roster. Multiple poor decisions by the GM. Old and slow starters, weak bench. Bloated payroll. No draft picks. Injured star center who may or may not return to his previous form but will recieve a max deal in the off season.

A few wins cannot lift them out of the mess they are in. Long term they are screwed. Short term maybe they win, maybe they dont.

Ps: Kupchak failed to lottery protect the 1st round pick he traded away last year. Why? Because the Lakers ALWAYS make the playoffs, so what would be the point, right?

The Lakers are screwed now, and with the harsher luxury tax and Jim Buss taking over, they're screwed for the foreseeable future.

I don't see any way the Lakers make the playoffs. They need to play at a championship level every game from here on out just to get to 40-43 wins (and even that probably wouldn't be enough to get them in), and that's just not going to happen when Kobrick's chucking, Pau and D'Antoni are sniping at each other, and Dwight is re-aggravating his shoulder injury every three games.

That fat television contract might be the worst thing that ever happened to the Lakers. From now on, they'll always feel pressured to wildly overpay for mediocrity and make panic moves instead of doing a fiscally-responsible rebuild.

I think they could actually make the POs but it wont matter. They are only like 4 games behind Houston with 30ish to go. But even if they did, they get SA, LAC or OKC in the first round. Funnier scenario is if they miss the POs, get a nice break in the lottery and have to watch Phoenix use their top 10 pick because Mitch was too inattentive (arrogant?)to lottery protect the pick. Saweeet!

This mess has been brewing for the Lakers for many years, as they have traded away 1st round picks for middling talent in a desparate attempt to surround Kobe with decent enough players for another title run. They done mortgaged the future to pay for today and now the future is here. And the best part is they are still delusional enough to think that it will all just work out because "we're the Lakers".

I hate that they won an we lost. I want us toget that winning spirit back. They don't seem to really care, I think the "low energy" excuse is so frustrating

TURNED THE CORNER? NO.

It is the same ole thing with the Lakers. They still suck. What they do, and have been doing all season is they beat (Barely) sorry teams at home (so they get on a winning streak) and then when they go on the road and play a RESPECTABLE team they LOSE. They beat a couple sorry teams in a row at home and "oh hey they are back" and then they play real teams and they lose and the real them comes out. It is the same ole thing.

Right now they have beat a string of horrible teams BARELY and people are claiming they are back? THEY ARE NOT BACK. The Nets suck, but watch they will lose by 20 against them. All a team needs to be is MEDIOCRE and they will beat the Lakers. You know things are bad with the Lakers when fans overrate a bum like Early Clark and talk about him like he is the 2nd coming of Karl Malone or something.

The Lakers are the same ole Lakers and the funny thing about all this talk about them "finding their groove" and "Getting it together" is that they are still under .500 haha it is really comical stuff. They will start losing again when they play AVERAGE teams. Right now they are playing bottom feeders so even they can notch together a couple wins in a row.

Its tough though cause it will go on like this all season. They lose some games against good teams, then they go back home and win against sorry teams and people will claim they are "back" after every home winning streak. It is not going to stop until they finally realize they are not going to make the playoffs. So dont pay attention to any Lakers talk right now. They are done and have been for a while.

Dont fall into this media hype and how they get excited when they win a couple games in a row and believe anything they say. The only teams the Lakers are beating right now are teams that play and you are like "damn they really really suck so atleast the Lakers should be able to beat them"

And that has been the case during this stretch of theirs. The other teams MISS WIDE OPEN SHOTS, TURN THE BALL OVER, AIRBALL SHOTS, MISS LAYUPS, DROP REBOUNDS OUT OF BOUNDS, I mean the teams they are beating are THIS BAD. That is the only reason they are winning. I give the Lakers 0 credit.

All that and for the playoffs? People fail to realize that of the 3 teams they are battling for the last playoff spots none of them suck as bad as them and these teams need to lose in order for the Lakers to make it. They are not going to lose as much as the Lakers will. They made their bed now they have to lay in it

You guys should watch the Pistons Lakers game if possible so you guys get a real idea on who the Lakers are.

The Pistons played like a high school team against the 96 Bulls all game and SOMEHOW they still only lost by 1 point. I dont think I ever saw the Pistons score two times in a row all game, that is how bad they were, and how bad most teams are against the Lakers, and still they barely lost.

Lakers will have "turned the corner" when they finally get OVER 500. Something they have failed to do all season. Something we did the first week and haven't looked back since. PS- I don't see this corner turning happening this season (or next). Lakers are a lottery team plain and simple

Last 2 games were ridiculously one sided in the 4th quarter. Anyone will look better and can win more games if its 8 vs. 5. And they barely beat the 10th and 11th west teams. Lets not over exaggerate.

if the clips got the same type of help, we would be close to undefeated. its pathetic that the corn flakers are 2 games below .500 with all the help they get.

I know we are meant to hate these guys and I never watch their games but I get the feeling that things are getting better for them. Apparently Howard is looking a bit more like his old self.

I really hope they don't make it to the 8th spot.

I rather them not make playoffs. Everyone will be on Kobe for making the guarantee. He will look foolish haha. Lakers need help from other teams to lose. It's not like lakers control their own destiny.

Houston and Utah lost home games they weren't supposed to. Monta ellis hit a BS 3pt shot at the buzzer. I have a great feeling lakers will make it as an 8 seed. I made this prediction last week. I'm hoping they don't get in but they will get lucky. Jefferson and millsap are hurt for Utah. They are in trouble. I think Houston can hold on cause of their easy schedule. But don't be surprised if someone important from Houston gets hurt or something. Lakers will get lucky this last part of the season.

On a side note, in Hawaii, not too many ppl wear fan clothing out, but when I do see, it's mainly lakers, Miami, bulls, Boston, prob in that order. I wear my clipper gear out pretty often. Haven't gotten any comments from the laker fans yet. Lol. Ppl here are pretty chill and good sports.

I'm pretty sure the Lakers play Houston soon, and I wouldn't put it past that thug trash team to make a costly injury happen to the Rockets. All it would take is a well-placed elbow from Metta or Kobrick.
