IMO making a major trade for a 36 year old is foolish even if it was Jordan. As in Michael Jordan. Why? I'd be hesitant to even trade DJ straight up for KG. Yea he has good intensity and all but he's just too damned old.

Really hope this happens. I've been thinking about getting Garnett every since Verajao went down for the season. We really need to improve our inside game. DJ is just not consistent enough this season. Think of how much Garnett could teach Blake and DJ on playing defense. I think it might be inspirational for them.

I hope the trade is Caron + Bledsoe + Hollins for KG + Bradley or Lee.

An interesting alternative would be Caron + Odom + Bledsoe for KG + Bradley + Jeff Green.

Maybe Jeff Green could be the starting SF we are looking to add to our core? Celtics would love to get the cap relief from his contract.

Because he's the dumbest player on the planet, we would all lose our **** at his terrible shot selection, and he thinks he's worth a max contract.

LOL totally agree. Where would he play small forward where it forces him to jack up more horrendous threes and 20 footers. He has a ton of talen tbut he is a complete retard on how he views his own game

Might I add... you want a trade idea that would REALLY wreck our chemistry? That would be it. Josh Smith is an uncoachable headcase who clashes with his front office. Yet somehow people on here want him and insist that Kevin freaking Garnett would wreck our team? Some of you people need to learn2basketball, apparently.

Your entirely wrong about Josh Smith.

How am I wrong? This chart just says it all about Josh Smith's shot selection.

He's statistically the worst shooter in the league at TWO spots on the floor, and just keeps chucking regardless. He also thinks he can make threes, too, which he can't.

I find this hilarious

Mike Dunleavy ‏@notmikedunleavy

2008 KG was worth Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, and Jonny Flynn. So naturally 5 years later he's worth Bledsoe and DeAndre Jordan.

So is Tim Duncan...

Both Duncan and KG are proving that there is such thing as "old man good". I would gladly take two years of production now out of KG, than 2 more years of conditioning/training/waiting on DJ. I love DJ, he is a locker room guy, but our whole roster is "locker room" guys. We can afford to move DJ, but this is probably the only trade that I would be willing to do it on.

Again the center position is not our weak link, it's the staring sg and sf positions. Your missing the forest through the trees. wink

The Clippers should go all-in on getting Pierce AND KG. That would give us a damn good, clutch shooter and a defensive beast of a big man. We would be the hands-down favorites over San Antonio, OKC, and Miami with Pierce and KG.

If PP is included, pull the trigger. The opponents' defense would look helpless against Blake when they have to respect the outside shooting of PP and KG.

Um, no **** they're going to deny the rumors. Why on Earth would any team openly tell the media that they're trading their players BEFORE the deal is complete? That's one way to completely lose the trust of the rest of your roster.

The fact that the Celtics are scrambling around trying so hard to deny this makes me think KG AND Pierce will be Clippers soon. If it was just a made-up rumor, the response would have been a calm statement by the front office, not a meltdown from the coach.

So who should we trade for Pierce and Garnett. Pierce has a huge contract.

i think the players that are rumored to be coming back in that trade would hurt us in the long run. Garnett, while a huge defensive improvement over DJ, has a massive contract and is on the twilight of his career. If we added him our roster would get older, and we would look a lot like the Lakers, huge contracts tied into aging players.

^ PASS on Josh Smith! IMO he's a little overrated and he thinks way too highly of himself, he says he deserves a max contract, says hes an all star, but the truth is he can't make a jumper if his life depended on it. He's a GREAT fantasy player and he fills up the stat sheet but anyone whos ever seen him play knows that he is a bonehead when it comes to shot selection.

Yeah, make a bet against something that would make the Clippers a better team. You're basically saying, "I hope I win this bet even if it means the Clippers getting better doesn't happen." What's next? Jerry Sloane gets interviewed by the Clippers in the summer and you make a bet that he won't get the job? LOL.

LOL, seriously. The fear people have on here of taking risks is incredible. This is what championship teams do.

I bet there were Pistons fans who didn't want Sheed because of some nebulous "what-ifs" about chemistry, and I bet they felt somewhat foolish about it when the Pistons ended up ringing.

Actually your wrong. Don't mind at all losing the $. My deal is it's another Internet rumor and the probobilites are in my favor. Want in and I'll gladly gift you with the bucks. Smile

P.S.

How about a little side bet on Sloan coaching the Clippers next season. That would make the 71 year old Sloan the oldest coach in NBA history and then maybe he'll quit too after 12 games like Hubie did. Another highly improbable happening ,lol.

Agree Pierce would be perfect! He is clutch, create his own show and draw fouls from Durant and Lebron, who typically are not challenged. We have great depth at SF with Butler, Hill, Barnes, but offensively they won't get those guys in foul trouble. Pierce does and will. Josh Smith is in that Joe Johnson, Danny Granger good but overpaid class... Deng would probably fit better than Smith, though not gonna happen. Does anyone think Josh Smith would make a difference? It would be better to stay pat.

Damn....havent posted here since it all blew up last season..

One thing no one has mentioned is team chemistry. Whereas talent is of primary importance, there's something special within this team's chemistry. DJ and Blake are seriously close, and no one can tell how a trade like this would help.

On the other hand, KG has the toughness and tenacity that matches well with our style.....and he can make a free throw!

Dumbest player alive.

Negative, that would be DeMarcus Cousins. I love how people on multiple Clipper boards wanted him when we went after Baron Davis, then they wanted him a couple years later when he was rumored to get traded. Now he's bupkis. Fact is he's an amazing player and he's being looked at as the #1 scoring option in a place where he shouldn't be.

If he played on our team, OKC, or any other top 3-4 team he'd be looked at as a key cog in the machine and wouldn't be considered a guy you'd trade at all.

Pierce makes way too much damn money, and is old as hell. My whole reasoning for going after Smith was it would be a much better deal than going after Garnett, whose been playing for almost 20 years and is probably going to miss 15-20 games a year from here on out. Oh, and he could retire whenever he wants.

Um, speaking of "making too much damn money," Josh Smith is delusionally convinced he's worth the max. As I've already explained in this thread (apparently on deaf ears), Smith's shot selection is so atrociously bad that it cancels out anything good he does on the court, and he's absolutely NOT deserving of a max contract.

DeMarcus Cousins is a million times better at basketball than Josh Smith. I'd sooner get Cousins than Smith, because if our veterans could keep him focused and keep him from being a distraction, he still has the potential to be the best center in the league.

Josh Smith? He is what he is: a soft excuse for a forward who chucks up jumper after jumper that he can't make and wants far more money than he's worth.

Amnesty_David_Stern

Cousins is not a million times better at basketball than Josh Smith, you kidding me? They play 2 different positions and I don't see Cousins getting 2 steals and blocks damn near a night on average for the past how many years? Smith thinks he's worth X amount but will he want more money to go play for a **** team like Detroit? Or will he man up and take less to play somewhere else? I think he doesn't get max money at all.

Smith doesn't make max money right now and makes far less than Pierce and would be far mor evaluable than Pierce as Smith isn't in his mid 30's with 15 years of NBA experience on his knees.

Clippers cant / wont make a trade for Smith. Atl does not need Bledsoe at all, and getting a 3rd team involved in the deal is going to prove too difficult. Giving what we could have given up for Garnett was ridiculous and could have been one of the worst trades in this teams history if it actually happened.

It's clear we need a SG or a SF, crystal clear. If the team has interest in moving Bledsoe, I am sure there are plenty of teams out there that would be willing to trade for him and give us a quality player at the 2 or the 3. Even if it means they take on Caron's salary. It's too bad Denver is stocked at almost every position, I'd love Igoudala or Galinari. Either get a great scorer, or an all around monster who can play 2 spots.

Smith wants max money. Loves chucking 3s and jump shots when he sucks at both. Good defender but terrible offensive player, bad attitude, and wants the max. No thank you....

Also Atlanta wants to dump Smith badly considering they explicitly said they won't offer the max while Smith defends the max.

We can get him easily through trade since his value is very low but he is a huge waste of cash and frankly does not help us offensively(half court set) since he sucks at spreading the floor and is a low iq chucker sometimes.
