I wouldn't want to do it with Bled included. DJ for KG, as long as KG isn't planning to retire after the season and will play out two more years of his contract, is a win for us...And possibly for them too. If we're trading our under-contract young C for one playoff run, I don't like the deal.

Bled straight up will get us a starting wing this summer. Don't blow your wad before we can maximize value.

DJ straight up with no picks or just don't do anything.

I don't like this trade. We can get a better player for DJ and Bledsoe than an old KG.

This package could get us a starting SG or SF and a solid C.

We shouldn't make a trade right now. Gotta roll with this team.

if we're gonna trade bledsoe, we can get a better long-term option in return. much better than a guy who might only have 4 months left in his career.

its not like teams wouldnt want a guy like Bled.

Couple things here...

While I am 2000% sure the Celtics are going nuts right now because getting DJ and Bledsoe in return for KG is like striking gold, then the gold itself comes alive and cures cancer, KG is not going to waive his no trade clause.

Secondly, I think to myself WTF are the guys upstairs thinking? Bledsoe could very well turn into an All Star as I can't see him not putting up 2.5-3 steals a night, 1 block 4-5 boards and 6-8 assists a game as a starter. KG COULD retire at the end of the year, we don't know this. But, KG has been playing for like 17 years now, thats a LOOOONG time. I just wonder WTF were going to do if KG did get traded to us and he DID retire. Who the hell do we put at Center then? Move Blake to the 5 and start Lamar Odom next year, IF Odom re signs and IF he's even good at that point?

I got 100$ that if we offered DJ and Bledsoe to the Hawks we could get Al Horford in return, who lets face it is pretty damn good.

I'd honestly rather take DeMarcus Cousins who you KNOW isn't going to retire and hasn't been playing in the NBA for half of his entire life over KG.

This is like the Pau Gasol trade to the Lakers if this happens and we'll be mocked for years.

I don't see why EB has to be included in this deal. would DJ + a first and second round pick not be enough for KG? because of KG's no trade clause, the celt's aren't going to get a better offer. Take it or leave it IMO.

It would be very unfortunate if trading DJ away for KG caused a rift in team chemistry though.

DJ for KG straight up is more than favorable for the Celtics. Does Paul Pierce have a no trade clause? I'd much rather we offer Bledsoe and Butler for Pierce than go after Garnett. Sure, the team may have always really wanted Garnett but I don't want Garnett at this point in his career. I would much rather have 2003 Kevin Garnett than 2013 Garnett.

I wouldn't be opposed to the clippers trying to flip EB for demarcus cousins. He's kind of a whiny prima donna but.. well ****, he's on the kings. I don't blame him.

I'm reading here that the front office hates the trade and Vinny wants the trade. If this is true, I really hope Vinny NEVER has the final say when it comes to making trades and I would LOVE to be in a fantasy league with Vinny because he'd probably trade me Lebron James for Jimmy Butler and Spencer Hawes.

Rotoworld is saying that the Clippers only want to move Green, Butler and Turiaf. I believe that's a hefty amount of salary and Butler is the only one with another year on his contract. Maybe we could land a solid player whose expensive for a bunch of expiring contracts?

I wonder if the Bucks would move Ersan Ilyasova?

All rumors right now and Garnett saids he NOT waving his no trade clause. Plus IF there was going to be a trade anyone who thinks it's DJ + Bled for Garnett is not thinking right, lol. More players from the Celtics side would HAVE be involved. I'd be shock if Garnett gets traded.

Having to think about this trade, I have to say... VDN, if you pull this damn trade, I hope your ass is fired! I love KG, i love his intensity, but I like E-bled and DJ because they are our owns. It'll feel more special winning a championship if we win with our home grown groups of guys, just like 2002 Angels who won the world series. We have Bledsoe, Griffin, DJ, Lamar Odom, Matt Barnes, and Trey Thompkins who were draft by us and if we did win enough, this feel lot more special I want to have that Cinderella story. The thing about KG trade is that it'll give us a slight better chance in winning this year, but if we fail, then we have to rebuild all over again. In keeping with DJ and Bledsoe, we have a puncher's chance and we can built upon based on experiences just like OKC. So please VDN and Clippers, don't do this trade.

I think Bradley and their first-rounder would be better than Bradley/Sullinger. As great as Pierce is, he can't carry Bled and DJ to a deep playoff run at this stage in his (or their) careers. Boston without Garnett is a guaranteed 1st round exit if they even make the playoffs.

Clips could be in the finals AND the lottery in the same year. Wouldn't that be something?

if vdn doesnt relent on trying to get this trade done, id fire him and replace him with robert pack. no way is kg worth so much. id trade for cousins as well if we have to give up ebled. cousins is insane, but with the leadership on this team, the kid would shape up. people would hate me but a dj+ebled and first rd pick for cousins and fredette ( i know hes not a backup pg, but hes a great 3 point shooter) would help.

Once again, is there any source for the rumor that Vinny and the F.O. are in disagreement?

This board is the only place I've heard anything about a rift. The Woj article didn't mention anything about it. Unless I see a somewhat credible source, I'm assuming one of the Vinny-haters pulled it out of their arse.

Vinny is not the one pulling the strings of the trade. People forget we have a GM assigned (Gary Sacks) who is responsible.

it's from here

Quote:
The deal being bandied about "regularly" is Eric Bledsoe and DeAndre Jordan for Garnett. Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro wants the team to pull the trigger, but the front office is reportedly "totally against the move." Obviously, the front office has the final say on personnel decisions and they are only willing to move the likes of Caron Butler, Willie Green and Ronny Turiaf. It's also worth noting that Garnett has a no-trade clause, although he does own a home in Malibu and has a close relationship with Chauncey Billups.

from the rotoworld headlines.

there article they are sourcing doesn't say that though, so it's probably merely a fabrication.

The Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics have had ongoing discussions about a trade that would send Eric Bledsoe and DeAndre Jordan for Kevin Garnett. There is internal reluctance within both front offices on whether such a trade would make sense, according to sources. Garnett would also have....

^ Chonky, 'flopter... thanks, guys.

So maybe the F.O. relents and trusts Vinny's judgement, or maybe they tell him to just shut up and coach.

Most likely IMO, though, is that Donald simply says: "Chris... what do YOU want?".

KG today said he bleeds green and would not waive his no trade clause but people need to remember he said the same about going TO Boston. Dude is just EXTREMELY loyal and the complete opposite of a quitter. Clippers front office+Vinny+CP3 take a flight to Boston to see him and have a chat and he will change his mind once he hears what we have to say. Billups didn't wanna come here either and guess what? He calls this the best team and best group of teammates he's ever had. He went from doubtful to extremely happy. This move will give KG a chance at rings the next couple years and he can ease into the retired life being near his family and all.

BTW if you guys want more reason to hate Simmons.... he says the Celtics should get Bledsoe+DJ+picks for KG straight up! Deluded idiot. He says he's worried KG will take it because he's best friends with Billups and lives in Malibu.

the clippers need to tell the celts that EB isn't going anywhere, and they can try to work out a deal from there.

and his most recent tweet...

. Also, Clips dumping DeAndre's deal in a KG trade is huge if KG retires this summer or next. Gives Clips cap space for summer of 14 (LBJ).

and he, and other posters here, have a valid point.

From what I read into it, it seems like Blake is even more in favor of pulling the trigger than CP3. So much for the BFF factor... Blake wants to win and win soon. I like it.

Woah that read gave me chills. Blake is basically saying do ANYTHING to win now and be champions, despite his friendships. I freaking love that! CP3 is the one I would have expected to say that. You'd almost think their quotes are reversed.

Melo would be amazing although he would need to play more like he did at the beginning of the year and play like a Point-Forward. We don't need 30 ppg Melo as much.

Hmm...interesting to say the least. Our youngins, both of which have huge potential, the same players many of us were screaming needed more court time to develop, and Vinny, who is coaching for his Clipper coach life seems more than willing to mortgage the future of this team to save his own arse.

Vinny is a stubborn fool, and if the front office follows his lead they are even dumber.

Bled and DJ? 2 of the players that are probably the top 4 players that are the reason we are so good defensively, and Vinny wants to get rid of them both? I hope not. Not both...really neither.

DJ will make a leap as soon as he is given the pt to do it. Bled is the main reason the bench is so effective, way to valuable as a throw in.

If Bled is out and Cp3 and BG are OK with it then cool, but I don't like it, and it still seems like if Vinny had a contract(which I don't think he deserves on this team) this would not be going down.

The fact that it is such an obvious coverup of his developmental skills is horrifying.

We can't get into the camp of underrating KG. He's anchored some of the best defenses for years now. The 08 Celtics anchored by him are a top 3 defense all time. Sure he's now 4 years older but he's still the highest impact defender in the entire NBA according to an article about 3 weeks ago on NBA.com. Basically when he's on the bench the Celtics are terrible defensively, when he's in games they are the best in the league. DJ's on and off court differentials are pretty negligible. In other words KG's impact will override the combined efforts of DJ+Bledsoe most nights. Although Bledsoe is a loss... as long as we get another guy back like Courtney Lee.. it will work out nicely for both teams.

Have to disagree. Part of the reason we are so good defensively is because of being able to stop ball penetration at the pg position. One of the main reason we lost so many games when bled was starting and Hill and JC were guarding pgs.

KG is a good defender, but not a shot blocker that player fear. This is the main reason I was laughing when people thought that DH was an upgrade over Bynum. 6'11 over 7'1 is more about itimidation than numbers.

Don't believe the hype.

I also don't believe for a minute that KG will be allow to set all those illegal picks that he gets away with once he joins this team that jobbed on the reg-gu by the refs.

I seem to recall everybody wringing their hands in the exact same manner about "our future" and "dumping our young players" when we traded Eric Gordon for a certain superstar point guard and top 3 player in the league.... but it worked out amazingly for us.

Also don't want to trade a way such a durable player for an aging veteran. Atleast we can be confident that DJ isn't going to re-injure something or have to sit out because of a bad back (though anything can happen at any time especially considering the way he plays) but they guy hasn't missed a game for us as far as I know. DJ definitely has value there.

We also can be confident that DJ will disappear in the playoffs and have to sit out in the 4th quarter because of abysmal free throw shooting and no fundamentals.

People seem to forget that DJ only shows up once every 10 games to begin with. Then on top of that he was INVISIBLE in the playoffs when teams roughed him up. I just don't trust DJ and neither do the coaches or his teammates.

Makes sense, actually. I've thought for a while that Donald WILL be ok with paying tax as long as he's gaining an advantage over other top teams.

This means we HAVE to stay under for this year, so that next year (and for the next 3 years) we can go up to $5mil over at only the $1.50 on-the-dollar rate. "Repeat offenders" will be paying $2.50 for every dollar of that $5mil.

I think we'll be a tax-paying team next year, but not this year.

Put me in that camp. I'm okay watching Vinny show the world how much of a doofus he is this post season, but this is retarded(and not retarded as a medical term). If Ainge gets both players he covets over this FO then wow.

KG is great and all, but is he the difference in a title when we give up Bled and DJ with the same dumb ass coach? I think not.

there's no doubt he would. During the celtics loss all i could think about was how nice KG would be on the clipps, i just really don't want them to use our best trade chip on a guy who won't go anywhere but los angeles most likely.
