Great!

I'm confident if they do, the fire Vinny thread will grow to unprecedented replies.

Exactly. NEVER believe team specific writers like Brad Turner of the LA Times. They are told directly by the team who of course is going to deny anything. Celtics writer today denied it too. Thing is the Yahoo Sports guys are known as being the most legit in all of basketball. They are rarely wrong, especially Woj. Their sources are very strong. Doesn't mean this trade will happen but I'm 100 percent sure it's being discussed. Not only did Woj and Spears say it.. but others said it two weeks ago.

This is a difference between trading our young corps for CP3 than KG. CP3 is heading to his prime and he'll be an assets and a franchise players for many years to come. KG, on the other hand, have a few years left. It's not worth it.

Chris Broussard: Vinny Del Negro wants KG, willing to give Bledsoe/Jordan for him. Clips front office totally against the move. Front office has final say. Twitter @Chris_Broussard

The Clippers are the one active pursuing the trade?

Seems that way according to the reports.

The Clippers say they are not calling around the NBA shopping point guard Eric Bledsoe and center DeAndre Jordan. But for the second time this month reports have circulated connecting the two Clippers with speculation about a trade involving Boston star Kevin Garnett. Gary Sacks, the Clippers' vice president of basketball operations, didn't mention any names, but said "every team has called me" and that "it's my job to call them back and to listen." "I haven't called anybody to say, 'Hey, we have Eric Bledsoe and would you like him?' Or, 'We have DeAndre Jordan or we have anybody and would you want them?' That's not where I am right now with this team," Sacks said in a phone interview from Houston on Saturday. "That's not where we are." Not necessarily. Sacks isn't untouchable if CP3 likes Vinny, but he and Sacks can't coexist.

Honestly, the only people who have a guaranteed job or job offer from Donald next year are Blake, CP3 and probably Roeser.

Trades, hirings, firings... Donald would turn the entire franchise upside-down to keep CP3, for better or worse.

Trading EB right now is crazy. We have two PGs who are injury prone. If Chauncey or Paul get hurt who is back up PG? Hill? Odom? Crawford?

gonna be watchin' to see how much sack Sacks has.... can't believe it's a good trade for us, and.... have been proven wrong by him before....

really don't like the Vinny angling for job security angle either.... don't like the way he brought in Lamar, and can't believe that a guy w/a year or two left is worth two guys w/their careers in front of them.

agree that our coaching staff lacks in big men coaches, and have said repeatedly that Bill Laimbeer did pretty well in Minny w/KLove and Darko, and would love to see what he could do w/Blake and DJ.

and Fab Melo is hardly worth the trouble.... if anything we need draft picks come this offseason if it is deemed time for Bledsoe to go.... can't see getting rid of DJ at all.... people aren't accounting for his intangibles, his interior D, and his body language, which is infectious, and.... this free throw thing has really been blown out of proportion.... dude needs to play in the fourth, at least up until the last few minutes.

And furthermore:

The success long term of a team is ti have players who play together a while under the same coach. The Spurs come to mind or Phil Jackson's teams.

We get Garnet who has two good years left. We won't get and combo guard as good as Bledsoe. WE'll go from a team of balanced young talent and vets to old vets.

The goal should be a ring in two years. Miami is too good now since LeBron is playing like !!!!!!. This trade will sacrifice a good future for wheelchairs.

I'd do Bledsoe for Shumpert, whom the Knicks are shopping.

DJ has made some moves that are un fu*king believable. He just needs the ball against weaker centers for a while. Don't laugh but DJ may develop a short jumper. He made a move recently that was almost a fade away. Remember DJ has hit bail out jumpers. One is luck two aren't. FT's and jumpers are different animals. Bowen sucked at FT's. KG isn't a bang inside guy. If DJ gets that or a baby hook (Which he has hit) he'll be unstoppable. He has also hit some finger rolls that Ralph called "Chamberlainesque"

DE ANDRE DOUBLED, HE PASSES TO BLAKE FOR THE FACIAL Don't laugh

Bad trade

Isn't he a forward? We need a PG or Combo guard. We've got Barnes Butler and Hill. Billups and CP3 are too fragile. This has been mentioned but didn't Iverson really play SG? He's smaller and weaker than EB

Clippersfan86

Nope. He's being played out of position at SF. Shumpert came into the NBA as a 6'6 PG actually who then got moved to SG. In other words he's a combo guard that can guard 1-3.

More this sits more I'm actually leaning against this trade again. Mainly because if we actually hire a great coach I think they can get way more out of DJ+Bledsoe than Vinny is. Not only increasing their trade value tremendously but benefiting the team as well.

I absolutely agree with this as being Vinny's motivation. How far we go in this postseason has the potential to make the difference between something like a 4-5 year, $30-40,000,000 deal if we win it all (either from us or from another team) or him being seen as a guy who can't get it done even with a great roster if we get bounced in the 1st or 2nd round... essentially lowering his market value when he's already on a terribly cheap contract.

However, I find it difficult to criticize him for it. If I saw a way to increase my chances of winning now and landing that contract, even if it meant mortgaging the future somewhat, I'd take it. Where's the value in worrying about future flexibility when you could get the boot and someone else will be reaping the benefits of your prudence?

His job is (and depends upon) succeeding this year. It's the GM's job to worry about the future beyond June.

That's why there's a healthy disagreement... no drama, no dysfunction, just different priorities. Perhaps if and when Vinny feels secure for a few years, his priorities may become more long term. Until then, it's up to Donald to listen to both sides and decide what HIS priorities are.

Either way, I'm cool. With or without the trade. I think that even though it'll take the very best from the players and the coaches - and maybe even a little luck... we still have a legitimate shot at a title...

Considering that just 2 short years ago we were 21-35, I think that kind of progress is pretty f***** awesome.

i dont like the trade. maybe dj + a first rd pick for garnett at most. no way you can include ebled. you can trade ebled once cp3 resigns. im not too confident we can replace ebled's contributions as the only true back up pg we have. billups is more of a sg now. he can run the point, but idk if i am too confident in the guy staying healthy.

Love this trade. 3 starting all stars backed by ring holders CB and CB?? No way this is bad for Clips. That being said don't think it will happen. I've been wrong before (8 times total)

I agree with the vinny stuff tho

If we could somehow finagle pierce into the deal(sounds crazy but it might work) then it would be worth it. We could easily pick up vet pg who isn't signed and with that good of squad still be contenders with cp3 injured. Lets face it though, if cp is out it lowers our chances no matter if its Bledsoe or another backup.

At least with this trade we bolster our starting lineup and Paul could stay uninjured which would be great. I am thinking pierce, Garnett, for Bledsoe, dj, Caron, jamaal and maybe a contract filler and a first rd pick. Might sound crazy but that gives the legit longer term value for their aging pieces. Bledsoe has some serious value around the league too. Looking better than wall

Yea I mentioned this before. In 2014 we will have TONS of cap space and can get a max player. Look at the free agents in 2014 guys....

Lebron

Melo

Gay

Deng

Granger

Gortat

Bogut

Lowry

Kobe

Iggy

Ellis

I like Deng, Iggy and Gortat.

Alot of these names are good. I dont like Iggy, or Deng though. I dont like Iggy because we dont need another dunker. He does alot of that. And Deng I never really thought he was that good. Id prefer to stay with Barnes and Odom...I Love my Clippers! Go CLIPS!!

Guys it hurts to say this but if theres anybody Id let go is DJ. I love his attitude as a player. And he must be a great locker room guy to have. But in reality I watch the games and always think he hurts us. Yes he plays defense I know. But man he cant even score. Or if he gets fouled he wont make those free throws. Really I feel thats the reason why he doesent play as many minutes. Hes somewhat of a liability. And for what were paying him. Hes clearly not worth the money. Id rather let him go and unload that contract. Thats how id be up for giving DJ for KG straight up. And not letting Bledsoe go unless it was for a great player. I love my Clippers! Go CLIPS!!

I get what you mean big dog. He isnt terrible. But the dude is making 11 mil a year. Man I dont want him. Id rather sign Barnes and Odom for way less than 10 mil a year. And we would have two decent players instead of one. I love my Clippers! GO CLIPS!!

11mil a year for an all star SF is a steal. SF is the most overpayed position besides Center. Deng is worth more than Gay IMO but Gays contract is like 16mil a year.

Fair enough. I am English and he is the best player on our national team (which is a pretty bad team) so I am biased.

Bulls might love Deng more than they do D Rose. He's easily one of the most underrated and overlooked players in the NBA despite him making the ASG. He really knows his role and plays it to his full capacity on that team. I don't think there's a team in the NBA that wouldn't want Deng on their team.

Seems to me the quotes from Blake especially when asked about KG tend to say he would welcome the trade of DJ to bring him in. Take it for what its worth, when he says "sometimes you need to plant the seeds and let them grow and but right now its a time where if we just attack and make the moves we could go all the way"...Not exact quote but I heard, "move DJ for KG, we'll be a better team and I'm good with it.". They're tight friends and we all know DJ feels like VDN holds him back, maybe he's looking out for his friend by subtlely endorsing a possible move to get him to a better situation while also making the Clips a better team.

If we don't add anything else (no Bledsoe for $hit's sakes), just straight up DJ for KG, and he assures us that he plays out his 3year contract, we win the trade most likely.
