Chauncey Billups likely in vs. Heat

Updated: February 7, 2013, 4:01 PM ET

By Arash Markazi | ESPNLosAngeles.com

MIAMI -- For the first time this season, the LA Clippers had all of their players in uniform and practicing Thursday, and could possibly have them all in uniform and playing Friday night against the Miami Heat if there are no setbacks.

Clippers forward Blake Griffin, who has sat out the past two games because of a strained hamstring, went through a light practice as did Clippers guard Jamal Crawford, who sat out Wednesday night's game with a sore right shoulder.

Guards Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups also went through their first practice together in over two months. Paul has missed nine straight games (and 12 overall) with a bruised right kneecap, while Billups has only played three games this season due to peroneal tendinitis in his left foot.

All four players are officially listed as game-time decisions for Friday. Billups is the most likely to play, according to a team source, followed by Griffin, Crawford and Paul. If there are no setbacks, all four players are expected to be back by Sunday's game against the New York Knicks.

"I felt good," Griffin said after practice. "I felt really good. I didn't go full-court but I did a lot of half-court stuff and I felt good. We'll see how it is tomorrow morning and we'll make a decision from there. ... There's a chance I'll play tomorrow."

Griffin ended a streak of 197 consecutive games played when he sat out Monday's loss to the Washington Wizards with the left hamstring injury.

Billups was the player who looked most ready to return after Thursday's practice, as he went through the nearly two-hour practice with no limitations or restrictions.

"I felt pretty good out there," Billups said. "We got some really quality work in so we'll see how it feels tomorrow. Hopefully I wake up tomorrow and I feel great and it's a go."

I am so jacked for this game. Its not that we just play the heat but we have all of our guys back. I am predicting a loss though just because cp3 hasn't played in a while. Also it will be interesting to see how billups minutes are used. I kind of see VDN having a tough time with his rotations tomorrow.

what's the hurry? there's only a few games left before the all-star break. wouldnt a 14 days off be better than rushing them in during a road trip? if anything, id send them back to LA and have them ready to play next wednesday against Houston at home.

there's still a lot of basketball left to play, id rather not have this injury bug lingering around. 100% fit or bust.

I agree with you in principle, but I don't think Vinny will be sending any starters home from Miami for a nationally televised game after what happened with Pop. Landing Donald with a league fine probably isn't the best bargaining position to keep his job and try to get a raise.

but the difference is that our guys are actually injured and havent been playing. pop was just resting starters.

^ Yeah, I know... but actually sending 3 or 4 of our top guys home who've been traveling fine until this point just seems a little too reminiscent of what Pop did. And Vinny doesn't have anything like Pop's reputation to give him the sack to do it.

Well, I'm pretty excited. The way they're teasing, it would actually be cruel if a couple of those guys don't play against the Heat. If we could at least get Chauncey and Blake, I'd be happy...downright ecstatic if we also get Paul. And to get them right after our great defensive win against Orlando would be fantastic. I don't know if we'll be able to win, but you just gotta know our guys' are going to be PUMPED to have the team back together!

Plus a national televised game on Sunday against the Knicks on ABC, stern is not having that. Im sure 2 if not all players will be back by atleast then if not Friday against heat.

We need it. We need to get some talent back out there because the lack of offense is hurting my eyes.

"Despite what he said on TNT, a source tells me Chris Paul will play Friday night against the Heat."

The hurry is the nuggets are playing well and are only 2 games behind us for the 3rd seed. Memphis and GSW are also 2-3 games back. We continue to lose, we might find ourselves in the 6th seed before the all star break.

Ekker, it's called urgency. Paul has missed 9 straight games and coming back is somehow a "hurry"? If they said they can play, let them. You're okay with dropping the next three games? You're okay with a 2-6 road trip? I've seen enough of this team without CP and I'm pretty convinced they won't be able to win these next three games without him. Well, at least two of them, the Heat and the Knicks. We can't afford to lose any more ground.

Oh, and the Spurs could afford to do it because 1, it was early in the season and 2, they were not in a bad stretch. Right now, we are. We are 3-7 in the past 10 games.

If Bosh, Wade, and Allen sit out tonight, we don't need everyone back. If just 2 out of those 4 guys suit up, we'll give the Heat a good show. If we get all 4 back for Sunday vs the Knicks even in limited minutes, I'm tuning in for sure!

Good news for the Clips. Source tells me "everybody (Blake, CP, Chauncey, JC) is playing at this point." if no setbacks, it's on vs. Heat

6th-8th seed with CP, Blake, Billups 100% for the playoffs >>>> 3rd seed and an iffy CP, Blake, Billups for the playoffs

i dont wanna see last year all over again.
