Nice to see the whole team "work their minutes" as Vinny says.

Billups was something of a liability, but for some reason he settles CP3 down so you take the good with the bad.

The Bled/Craw backcourt was astonishing and Hill did a great job on Carmelo... I'm so glad to see our bench intact again.

Thats why Vinny, yes Vinny, let play small ball with BG being C. Just to spread the Floor and be onto the 3 Pt Shooters.

But the difference was as Cp3 rightly noted GHill. The best wing defenderr on our team who stopped Carmelo from raining down 3s on us. That is also the reason why Butler imo has no business in the starting 5 and could easily be traded, I wouldnt mind. The best defenders have to guard the best opposing wings and that is with us GHill as also the best defender at SG should guard the best opposing SG, which would be Bled (though debatable because hes really an important Factor in our 2nd unit).

BUT what you can not afford is having two! weak defenders at SG and SF playing starting five! and guarding the elite opponent ones. In our case this is definitively Butler + at SG CB or Green.

To me Butler really needs to be traded for a young SG/SF or a sharpshooter like Korver.

I just noticed we have a week between the Lakers game and the Spurs game geez.... That will give players time to fully recover at least.

Did we play good perimeter D tonight or were shots not falling for the Knicks?

Because they were contested.

Melo made plenty with a defender in his grill, but we still won.

Our defense was excellent.

I wouldnt say excellent but good. Carmelo was raining 3s on us up to the 3rd Quarter until GHill was set onto his toes permanently.

Also the small ball tactic from Vdn with only Blake being C helped spreading the floor and defending the other 3 Pt Shooters.

great win by the clips. a total team effort. when BG quit complaining to the refs and went commando style on the knicks, that changed the game along with hill guarding carmelo. our D was on point. ebled and crawford tore them up. cp3 showed his mvp qualities with his overall effort. i still cant believe ebled had 3 blocks. damn. i think if we do have to trade him, we should be able to get a great young 2 for him. id keep him, given cp3's injury history. move ebled to the 2. DTS, its time to spend.

I missed the entire second half, but looking at the box score, we made three more threes than the Knicks. We still gave up 7 3s. But as long as we make more than the opposing team, I think we'll be fine. The problem is that's not gonna happen a lot. We are negative in 3pt FG differential. If we could just keep the other team from making 7 or more 3s a game...that's all I want from our D.

^^bcf. As of right now I think we should keep Ebled too. Use him as strong defender in our starting 5 against elite opposing SG or let him run the 2nd unit like he does so wonderfully. Butler though is for me the one who should get moved for some other talented or experienced player at SF (e.g. Korver), as I do not see him suiting into our 2nd unit, where he belongs imo.

Melo made plenty with a defender in his grill, but we still won.

Our defense was excellent.

Melo was contested, and when hill came in he got shut down. But smith, kidd, and even novak got open shots. They werent falling. Also, our outside shot was falling today. Like I say, when we hit from the perimeter, we win. If not, we dont really have a back up. We hit from outside, and then cp finished it up in the paint for us. We played hard though

We did well today defending the 3 (7-23) and yes some players got open looks and missed, but that happens to every team.

Couldn't see the game but was there a particular reason why Melo only took 2 shots in the 4th?

  • Something our defense did?

  • Poor offensive execution from the Knicks?

  • Melo being passive?

Combo of the 3? Question

It's kinda weird how he's 13-24 thru 3 quarters and only takes 2 shots in the 4th, especially given the makeup of NYK.

I disagree. Novak was hounded, Kidd got maybe 2 open looks, but only when he was the lesser threat and Smith was held in check. Melo had a GREAT day at the office, but our TEAM game beat him.

i loved how aggressive chris paul was. if he plays aggressive from start to beginning in every game then i really believe were the best team in the nba. by the way, was it just me or did you guys also love the way lamar played today for some reason? i just wish he was a bit more aggressive when it comes to his offense. by that i dont mean settling for jumpers, i want him to drive the ball inside.

oh no doubt we played good team ball, especially that hill, odom, bled, and crawford bench in the 4th. that was awesome. But Smith had a bad game, wasn't that contested. Kidd got a few open ones, from what I remember novak WAS guarded well, and got only 1 open shot. not bad. but like I said, Smith was off and Amare was kinda off too. we didn't play terrible D this game, but our D didn't stop smith and amare.

But again, our offense won us the game the way it always wins us. Hot jump shooting. So far I don't remember watching a game that we won and didn't shoot hot from the perimeter. That's my biggest problem with this entire thing. Depending on hot jump shooting is like winging it every game, especially when we dont run plays to get OPEN jumpers every game. seems like some days we run it, some days we don't. that's the problem with giving 100% control to the PG and not depending on a system. Another shoutout to the 40YO. Hill shutting down Melo in the 4th was unreal, more so at his age. This is EXACTLY what we paid him for, going up against the best perimeter players and making them work. I hope we continue to see this kind of individual defense from him, Butler is clearly not cutting it on D and Barnes sometimes gets beat throughout an entire game.

With Hill on his best D, this bench unit with Bledsoe, Barnes, Hill, and Odom should be able to shut it down.
