So were up 7 games at the All Star break with 26 games left on the schedule. Golden State has 30 games left and I don't think the Lakers at 13 games or so back are going to win 25 in a row to compete.

Can we hold on the rest of the way? GS is going to start using Bogut on back to back games very soon which should give them a boost and if Steph Curry can remain healthy, they will be a pesky team to deal with the rest of the way out.

I think were looking pretty good here. Even if we go .500 the rest of the way out were looking at a 52-30 record, most wins in franchise history and FINALLY a banner to put up in the Staples Center.

I just hope with not so many games left, DJ and Blake can really turn it on and get into better form for the playoffs.

Currently were squared off to face the Warriors in round 1 of the playoffs if everything were to end today. I think for us, playing Utah may be a bit more beneficial in round 1 as I really hate seeing any team go to Oakland to play the Warriors, that place is rabid.

And I believe 16 of those 26 are at home. Yes, we win the division with 57 or 58 wins.

Yes, things are looking pretty good. Especially the way GSW has been playing lately.

But also, considering who we share the building with, I would opt against putting up a Pacific Division Champs banner. It would look pretty silly amongst all the Lakers' NBA title banners. I'll be happy to hold off on the banner until it is preceded by the Larry O'Brien trophy.

so this brings us to the question...should we hang a divisional banner?

Im not worried (same as players) about the division race.

I'm more worried about catching okc at second spot, even challenging san antonio (4 back. seems like they never lose), or at least geting a better record than miami (homecourt adv at nba finals). We need to stay focused on the bigger picture. The rest will take care of itself.

I say we hang the division banner, we would have right to do it and you just know it work forever irritate the lakers and their supporters. Nothing yet could do about it!

Yep were contenders we have to worry about catching the OKC and Spurs. Sadly if Paul didn't get injured we would have 2nd seed most likely. Fortunately, we have closed the gap pretty quickly. We have to beat the OKC in the upcoming matchup. We should not worry about pretenders like the GSW.

Shoot,, i say we hang a "we won the series" banner !

I think we do win the division and I thing we should put up a banner. If you look at other arenas,,look at the Celst,,I believe amongst their bazillion banners they put up their division banners too.

We also need to make room for the retired jerseys of 3, 32 and maybe some others before the decade is done. Then we petition AEG to let us put up some statues too,,maybe one of BG32 posertizing Pau.

maybe it's just me..but i think it is a bit tasteless for us to hang a divisional banner. i say we hang the big one when we win it, ha!

Not impossible to grab the the #1 or #2 spot, but just not probable. Of the 28 games OKC has remaining they split those between home and road. Of the 27 games remaining for SA, 11 are on the road and 16 are at home. Number 3 is good by me though.

We're looking better than pretty good. 2nd most wins in the league. Win 4 games in 5 nights going into the break? Played the most games pre All Star break of anybody AKA lightest load going into the post season? We're looking great.

500 for the rest of the way??? Check out CP3 W-L column w this team as a starter. Now check Chauceys. Yeah. Staggering. Chauncey has only seen one loss this season. One. We'll most likely go over 600/700 to ride into the "real season"

You hope Blake can really turn it on? Uh... The switch has been flipped and ripped off. It's either on or astrONomical. I know TNT didn't show it but Blake hit the first ten points for us last night. Outscored the Flakes by himself in the first. Yeah Blake can really turn it on. Better shape would be scary. Scary record book hall of game bound beast scary.

Go Clips! Banner year ahead mateys

I did the exact numbers today.

Thunder: 29 remaining games, 14 at home. 13 of those opponents have a +.500 record. Key opponents include the Clippers, Nuggets twice, Knicks twice, Spurs twice, Grizzlies, Warriors and the Jazz twice.

Clippers: 26 remaining games, 15 at home. 12 of those opponents have a +.500 record. Key opponents include the Thunder, Spurs twice, Nuggets, Pacers twice, Grizzlies twice and the Jazz.

Spurs: 28 remaining games, 17 at home. 15 of those opponents have a +.500 record. Key opponents include the Clippers twice, Thunder twice, Warriors three times, Nuggets twice, Rockets, Hawks and the Lakers. Lakers aren't a good team this year but are always a handful for the Spurs.

We were 4.5 games back from the Thunder last week now it's just 1.5. We can easily grab the two seed. What's more is both OKC and us play the Spurs twice so 1 seed is very attainable IF Spurs lose both games to us.

Would be awesome. We own Houston in the Blake Griffin era and have obliterated them this year.

GSW are not pretenders, and there are actually 'bout ten legit playoff teams that could all give us a scare.... it is nice to have a top seed, and we've earned it, and.... callin' out teams as pretenders is no mindset to go into the playoffs with.... this is the NBA, most all the playoff squads can ball.

Houston would be better than Golden State by a mile but they are both 3 ball teams.

Pretenders=not contenders. Only 4 teams in the nba are true contenders atm. Heat, Spurs, Clippers, OKC.

We're Pac Div champs for sure. No contest. And beyond. Sky's the limit for this squad.

Right? Thursday trade deadline . Only 11 road games left? 5 of which are in Sacramento, New Orleans, and Cleveland?? Chauncey and Chris are our starting back court??? Hip to Clip is an understatement

The Clippers need to make a statement and win 20+ games the rest of the way. Forget the division, it's already in the bag; The Clippers need to focus on catching either OKC and/or(preferrably) the Spurs so the Clipps aren't stuck playing a grueling first round series against a team like GSW, Nuggets, or Grizzlies. If the Clippers play the Jazz, Lakers, or Rockets, it should be an easy 4-5 game series. If they play the Grizz, GSW, or the Nuggets, expect a long, grueling series just like last year's first round.

Don't care who we play or how long it takes, as long as we win.

Beating the Spurs in the next 2 matchups will be huge wins for our standings. Beating OKC is a bonus as that's a full game swing but we've already lost the season series. The flipside with having less games after AS break is we also have less games to make up ground, so every game does count if we want to get into the postseason at the #2 or #1 spot. Our outlook does look promising with a healthy lineup on the floor though.

I don't expect us sweeping the Spurs for the season series, but I'm sure the Clips will get their revenge on the Thunder. The Thunder got lucky both times this year. Beat us in OT on their home court and then beat us without Chris Paul.

More worried about our playoff seeding than the division. Winning the division is a milestone but getting far in the playoffs is more important to this team's future.

We might not have as much oppurtunity to make up ground cos we have less games to play but I think the teams health is prehaps the biggest factor to having a good playoff run. We can compete with any team when healthy but we can be pretty average or worse without our big stars. Of course its swings and roundabouts really but an easier schedule sounds good to me.

As far as hanging a division (or even a conference) championship banner, I would be cool with it, but there's certainly doesn't have to be a big ceremony. The Clippers should a banners much like how the L.A. Kings recently re-did theirs, with them hanging off the bottom of the catwalk, and place on the end of the arena where the Clipper bench is situtated for home games.

BTW Awesome thread. Normally, this time of year, we're discussing draft picks, who's available in the off-season, what might turn us around, should we tank, how we might be a playoff team if it weren't for so many injuries, fire Vinny/Dunleavy/Gentry/etc.

Now we're talking about banners. I'm loving this.

Clipps have a pretty nice looking schedule. Other than a touch road trip at the end of March, the schedule looks pretty easy. A lot of home games and a good mixture of lotto teams and contenders to keep the Clippers rolling without getting to lackadaisacal.
