the suns have made barbosa available for another 1st round pick....he shoots the three, breaks down defenses, and could run the floor with thornton every break!...hes a completely different type of SG than mobley but could work well off pick and rolls with brand as well as helping speed up our transition game....
barbosa would have a much larger impact than a rookie at 7....what does everybody else think? |

| The question is, who is it for? Thomas + #7 for Barbosa? That one looks tempting, just to get Thomas outta here! LOL |

| Barbosa for the seventh pick sounds good; Suns turn a 28th pick into a 7th pick, and Clippers would get a scoring combo guard who's contract is a really good value. However, not only must incoming/outgoing contracts be matched (only Thomas would work straight-up), but Suns are looking for veteran backcourt help that can play D for incoming coach Stotts. We have nothing to offer in terms of backcourt players (hence our need for Barbosa, ironically). |

IMO he's a very interesting player with a cheap contract...But we should think that he plays for a team where he can explode his skills mainly his quickess...The Suns are the perfect team for him (at least while D'Antoni was there) I'm sure that D'Antoni will want Barbosa back with him in NY because this type of player is made for this kind of basketball.
Dunleavy's mentality is to play a slower basketball and I doubt if he could explode all his skills.
Hopefully Kerr will make another mistake trading him as he did with Marion for O'Neal. |

| Getting rid of Thomas and adding Barbosa for the seventh pick is nice. IT would be better if we got their late first round pick as well, but with them taking Thomas I guess we can't be too picky. Dump him back over there. We would be better for it of course. I'm sure they could find another big man to take his place that might actually play defense. |

| Barbarosa is a very good combo guard, but not worth a 7th pick. You remember when Houston gave up their 7th pick for a Veteran. Shane Battie for Rudy Gay, and now Gay is tearing up the league. The 7th pick looks like we would get a future all-star. If he is so good, why do they want to trade him? Why,he can't run the point and is an undersized 2. Forget it. If we were to trade this pick for a veteran I'd say Rip Hamilton or Chauncey Billups. |

you are over-valuing the 7th pick.
barbosa is a very good player.
he is a good three point shooter which is what we need with brand and kaman down low.
i would do it in a sec |

not to mention battier is a much more complete player then gay....you cant seriously knock on battiers game!...the guy is legit in ALL facets of the game....
and i wont disagree that barbosas numbers were probably inflated playing with the suns but the guy will be able to come in and PLAY and thats all that matters!... |

First of all, Battier vs. Gay was a good move for both teams. Gay joined a young team where he can develop and eventually shine. Battier, with his veteran experience, joined a team ready to compete. Both significantly helped their respective ball clubs.
clippersblue, I agree with kylem, you're over-valuing the 7th pick.
However, kylem4711, you're over-valuing Barbossa..
The reality is, we can't count on getting a all-star for this pick; however, we can get a solid player.
I like Barbossa, but he is not worth what we can get at that stage in the draft. Remember, this guy is a late-first rounder himself; although, that isn't the best judgment to evaluate a player, it definitely gives us an idea of what he's worth and what we should be able to get.
Bottom line, I don't do the trade. |

i dont understand why though?
barbosa is a proven 3 point shooter, can run the point and is one of the fastest people in the nba.
you would rather have westbrook or maybe augustin then barbosa? how come?
i dont think the suns would do this anyway |

| A crack pipe dream. Phx is a train wreck. Shaq's overpriced and old, Nash is getting old, Hill's health is suspect (what a class act!), Marion's gone, D'Antoni's gone. They can't run-n-gun anymore. Their assets are Nash, Bell (bargain basement!), Diaw, Barbosa and Amare. Bell's getting old. They can rebuild around Amare, Boris and Leandro and Bell. In other words Nash may be available. They're not going to trade Barbosa. Nash's contract is short. I think Phx would take Al (no way) and #7 for Nash. |
