Agree. Screwed without him. If they somehow win a lot of games without him, I guess he's not as valuable as everyone thinks. But I think they will suffer if he misses a lot of games.

Everyone should be mad and disappointed after this performance. But if you have 0 faith that we will get it going by playoff time, it's hard to justify getting mad in the future if we lose to top teams again. I still have hope that we can and will get better.

We've taken a lot of big punches but we're not ko'd yet!

Our Clips are just setting expectations low so they can shut some MF's up in the playoffs.

As far as I'm concerned.. we're in, what else matters?

How epic would a 3-6 matchup with the lakers, followed by a 3-2 matchup with the Spurs, followed by a 3-1 matchup with the reigning W/C champs be?

It might take a run like that to prepare us for a road series against Miami.

For those that are thinking our season is "over" because of a bad stretch, I give you... John Rambo...

One of my partners was at the game and I was embarrassed. We forget it's not that the Griz blew us out. They only scored 96 pts. Usually that's a loss. We had no ofense OR their D was so monsterous that we couldn't score. They weren't that good. We stunk.

This many losses to elite teams isn't a fluke. It should tell us something important. Gold or Fool's gold. WCF now is a Ricky Davis pipe dream. Kobe is hurt but what team 1 -6 assuming LAL were #6 would you bet $100 that we could beat the way we're playing now? AS I said in another thread (or maybe this one) LAL could beat us in 6 with Gasol back unless we put some linament in our shorts

We have the talent.

Our 2nd half offense was a joke. 33 points? Give me a break.

Well said Cleepers. Matt Barnes before the game said the Grizzlies get away with more contact because of their reputation of being a 'physical team' but the second a team not labeled 'physical' gets gritty they start calling tic tac fouls!

I remember a part of Jerry Sloan's philosophy (later in his career, when his team wasn't so good) when facing better teams... "Foul them EVERY time down, and if the refs only call half of them, you win the battle".

I'm just sick of our guys TRYING to play good defense... and they do, but we give up 'and-1's' by trying to play fair. Poor Matty Barnes just has to be in the vicinity to be considered guilty... and he's a MF that can REALLY dish out a foul if he wants.

We'll lose games because of it... we'll probably even lose in the playoffs because of it... but we're going to lose anyway because we're perceived as soft right now and when we foul it's just "frustration".

The sooner we make putting muthafuckas on their arses a part of our game, the sooner it'll just be accepted as "Well, that's just what the Clippers DO".

I'd love for our pretty ball to win games, but the NBA isn't going to let that happen, so let's release the animals! In a real battle, I'm confident that Blake could beat up on any power-forward in the game.

I'm not knocking Lamar at all- he played a solid game overall. I mean Z-Bo is a monster down low- you need length on him. Lamar simply is not long enough or strong enough to handle him.

Odom isn't long or strong enough, but is DJ smart enough? DJ can barely guard guys like Gortat and Pek, actually he can't even guard them much less good offensive bigs and hustle and grab offensive boards.

Even his teammates are on him now, his own teammates. They're the ones who are in the trenches and they weren't happy with him.

It's been 5 years... 5 freaking years.... minuscule progress offensively and exactly the same crappy defense and rim protection. But he really stepped up styling out on his dunks, always kicks his legs out or spreads them while hanging on the rim. He's really good at that, styling out on spoon feed dunks.

Caron n ebled were sorely missed, 2 guys that can break their man down and create high % shots, BG needed more looks in post to make a move or pass out on a double team, kick Lamar off the 3pt line if he is not going to shoot it seriously screwed up the rhythm on offence when all he does is pass

all that being said we just got plain beat by a better team on the night who hit the shots they were given and smothering defense by clogging up the lane, it did help a bum like tayshun went off

hate to say Charles might be right about this team struggling come playoff time

^ Meh... would have much better if it had been Randolph. That dirty **** needs an Artest/Harden elbow to the chops... can DJ actually make himself useful?

Still, it was nice to watch that video again... and we're still 2-1 up on them. The pressure's all on them for the season series, and they already know we came into their sh!thole and beat them in the playoffs... TWICE!

We're the one western team that SHOULDN'T be scared of them... f***** teddy-bears.

With all this beat meating we forget one thing. Crawford was 1/11, 2pts

give him 10 and we win 4/11 plus a couple of FT's

That's why we lost

Butler was out maybe 10 pts although Barnes ($5mil next yr) played his heart out. Bledsoe was out. We should be able to win with players injured but healthy would have won hands down The main reason these losses bug me is because I hate to see Matt lose.

Sorry to s*it in your shoe but we haven't "always bounced back" yet.

(Is this sentence gramatically correct?)

If we continue to play this way we'll have all the bounce of a billiard ball. Why could they bring it against Detroit and leave it at home against MEM?

If we had played in the first half of the season as we are now we'd be bottom feeding for the POs. Why wasn't Willie Green in when Jamal was dropping smelly brown loads on the floor?

I dont know what it is but the team seems to get gassed towards the end of the season. We saw the same thing last year, and this year is even worse because we supposedly bolstered up the bench with quality veterans. Now we dropped down to 4th place and a showdown against Denver in the playoffs may not go in our favor. We have some serious issues to zolve

I mentioned this somewhere else. The Griz didn't play well, we played like we had a full diaper. We held them to less than 100 pts. It wasn't our defense it was our failure to execute any offense

If I remember right it was BG ~ 20 but few boards; CP~ 20; Barnes ~ 20 ; Billups 10 then there was ??? and ??? and ???

Interesting that we out rebounded Memphis. Both teams had same number of TO's...they just shot better from the field. Sure, our defense was suspect...but Gasol 11-14??? Really??? Weren't Parker's numbers similar? I'm starting to think it has less to do with our D and more to do with these guys simply having HUGE games against us. Admittedly, neither player shot that well against us in the prior two games.

Guys

The loss had nothing to do with being tough or somebody having a great offensive game and hitting shots or bad calls. Prince torched Matt, Gasol shot well but so what? They didn't break 100. It can esily be argued that we did a great job on D based on points

We scored 33 pts in a half. The LA Sparks could probably do that. That is not smothering defence it's a failure to execute offense

It's not the points, it's the 54% they shot from the field. Still, it's a little of both. If, for some reason, we can't seem to stop the other team, we should have enough fire power to beat them...especially at home.

Actually, it's all about winning 4-of-7 in playoff series. Technically, a team can go in as an 8-seed, win 4 series 4-3 and take the title against a team that went 82-0 and 15-4 in the playoffs.

The sky hasn't fallen in yet. It's a bump in the road.

Yeah that is rare, a 8 seed going 16-12 and being a champion. (Winning 4-3 in 4 rounds)

Sure it is. I doubt it's ever even happened. I was just making the point that once you get into the playoffs, regular season wins and losses count for nothing.

Agree. Well we better start playing better soon. If we can play our best basketball last 10 games of the season, then all this before is not as important.

The Rockets which were the 6th seed won the chip but they were much much better than their record.

A team only needs to win 4 of 7 games in a playoff series, so I assume that you are trying to say that a loss here and there isnt the end of anything, which i agree with you on.

However, others are rightfully worried that our meandering in the standings will result in us getting a 5th seeding, which would leave us against Denver.

Last year was a very cautionary tale on what can happen when you become lethargic in the rgular season, you end up dropping in the standing and get matched up against a tough oppnent.

Last year we played very similar to how we are playing now at the same time. And we ended up losing the third seed and dropped to 5th, which is something that was very close to happening as early as this week (remember that for about a game the grizz had 3rd seed and we dropped to 4th).

I think we all understand that the a loss here or there wont hurt your chances for the playoffs, but we are worried about seeding, and seeding determines a lot of things. Do you remember a few years ago when the Mavericks were something like 1-4 against the golden state warriors in the regular season (led by BDavis)? The Mavericks were the #1 seed and the Warriors were #8. The Mavericks, for some reason, matched up really bad against the Warriors high octane style, and they ultimately ended up being ousted of the playoffs by the 8th seed.

Many of us see a possible nightmare like this because as we all know the warriors are 3-1 against us. We should be seeing a better effort from our team to ge that second seed against more beatable teams like Houston or the Lakers/Utah (whichever one of these guys end up in that 8th spot).

Because as we have seen in the regular season Houston, Utah, and the Lakers are teams we can beat. As for OKC, GSW both of those teams are capable of beating us. San Antonio and Denver, although we have a positive record against them have recently beat us down bad so its a mystery as to how we will fare against them.

I dont think its people being chicken little so much as it is them being realistic on our ability to not match up well against certain teams.
