is the NBA rigged? We lose when we have the ball and the lead, and then we lose to a team that doesn't have their allstar, and that have been losing 5 straight, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE CLIPPERS?!

So the article notes a tiny difference but not anything worth noting. Although that's purely based on actual wins/record and not based on the same things I'm judging by. It's not W's vs L's that worry me or make me not confident. It's the fact that our actual effort and momentum is declining rapidly. We are playing like a significantly worse team, record aside.

They obviously can't quantify these things.

Well they did say that teams that there is a correlation between teams that finish cold and playoff success. What do you mean when you say "not the same things im judging by? Is it something that is correctable come playoff time? I don't believe effort is going to be a problem come playoff time. An 81 game season is a TON of basketball to be played its no wonder some of these teams don't play with maximum effort every game.

Again not what I'm saying. The Clippers aren't "not giving maximum effort every game". They are... giving that effort maybe a handful of times in the last 3 months. As to whether it's correctable, it's too late to correct this year at least. Maybe next year but these season long plagues don't just fix themselves come playoff time, that's never how basketball has worked.

I disagree. Effort won't be a problem come playoff time. That's not to say that there aren't other issues this team has:

3pt defense

defensive execution

Late game execution

By the way...this team is still on the way to a 50 game win season. Considering everything this team has went through (BG CP3, Jamal, injuries and Odom coming into camp out of shape)

Effort should NEVER be the reason you lose games and for us it is every time. 3 point defense is pretty much all effort and hustle. It doesn't take IQ to close out on a shooter or a ton of skill. Bottom line is we are sinking fast, at the worst time.

I think our player are already satisfied breaking only our own record, it's good I did not finish watching the game because I been wasting my time watching a game like this.

Apparently Vinny went off on the team tonight. Which is good. They need the sh** kicked out of them verbally for their horse **** effort lately.

He was mad as hell on the post-game show. Reminded me of Pop after we spanked the Spurs in their house.

Well... we have to live with it now. It's one more loss, though the nature of it makes it feel like about 4! We can't get it back and it was the 4th game in 5 nights after running around the arse-end of the country.

I still think Donald should pull a Cuban and make a very public statement about the diabolical officiating and suck up the fine for the good of the team, but I expect much better effort from here on out.

The clock resets in 2 more weeks.

"This has just been the sinking of the Titanic for the Clippers." - Ralph Lawler

When ultra optimistic Ralph is saying things like this and calling the team out you know things are bad. It's time to stop the denial around here. We have MAJOR team problems.

^ Yeah, just talking about not showing up, lack of effort, there are NO easy games... stuff like that. They asked if he told the players how he felt, he said "They kow how I feel... why don't you ask THEM what I said."

Full-on stink-face to the reporters.

this is what tells me that the players know that most of the time its on them when we lose: "It's on us," guard Chris Paul said. "Coaches coach; players play. Coach can't go out there and put the ball in the basket. He can't defend for you." so if cp3 can acknowledge this, then so can the detractors. im glad vdn went off. i know we got shafted twice this road trip, but they lost in such a bs type of way. i was pissed off. embarrassing loss. hope the two days off help heal some injuries such as griffin's knee and barnes' ankle.

Honestly I get on Vinny for his playcalling... and rotations but the one thing you can NEVER blame on the coaches is effort. It shouldn't take a coach lighting a fire under your ass to make you compete, have fire and want to win. That should come from within, no matter what. So while I did get on Vinny tonight for the lack of plays... you can't blame him for effort. I'm appalled with this teams lackadaisical, don't give a fu** attitude which is exactly what Vinny called them out for.

How the fu** are you going to have those kind of games in the most important games? Soft ass team filled with mentally weak players. Even our toughest guys like CP3, Barnes and Griffin have become mentally fragile lately.

I didn't like seeing little chippies from CP3 clanging off the front of the rim... sign of exhaustion.

He has to be aggressive earlier in games so we can put teams away without a frenetic 4th Q. That'll also help nullify some of the bullshit officiating in close games.

Looks like that Memphis game is going to be bigger than any of us wanted it to be.

That was a nice read- good to hear that VDN laid it on the guys. It's just unfortunate that the players were not more motivated after that tough loss vs the Spurs. It was like they thought they should have won, so they didn't feel badly enough to bounce back with a vengeance tonight. That's where VDN (or a guy like CP3 or Chauncey Billups) has to be more proactive, get a pulse of the team and say look- we lost, I don't care if it wasn't a blowout, but it was a painful loss. But we....

i think its not mental weakness, its exhaustion. 2 back to backs this week is hell for any team. couple that with the way we were shafted versus dallas and san antonio, it drains the energy. not an excuse, its just the players being human. the next two days off will be beneficial.

Bull this team is mentally weak. The minute teams rough them up or make life hard, they give up and fold. Last year we had THE most resilient team in the NBA. Led NBA in comebacks and always played hard, even if we played bad. This I don't give a **** attitude is a new thing and it makes me resent the way our team is built.

^ there are some players who need to grow some balls on this team. you know who. im upset as well with the way we lost. no effort. can be attributed to exhaustion and just plain not competing. houston fought their asses off because they are still fighting for the playoffs. our team seems to be content with having secured the playoff spot. there needs to be a players only meeting.

Blake can definitely turn into a little punk when things aren't going his way, but when Jamal and Willie are getting mad at refs, you know something's seriously wrong with the officiating.

It's all lip service, VDN plays and scheme suck and the players have no one that wants to dominate a game every night.

I miss Reggie Evans and the energy he brought, now Bledsoe doesn't do anything besides give the ball to Crawford, which I think is Vinny's fault for not designing plays for Bledsoe, But there's no more energy brought to the game like last year/beginning of this season. There's no plays for Griffin, DJ, Bledsoe, all guys who IMO should have the ball to make things happen on offense.

How many Technicals would Pop or SLOANE tolerate? Blake would be warming the pine. "T"s are for the coach. CP# called for a Motion Offense. Why and why did VDN let him do it. Pop would have ripped him a new one.

I'm trying to be nice this time but maybe this team is Iron Pie right? It took Miami a couple of years and SAS has been together at least 10. We're being unrealistic. Not a criticizm (sp) but a reality check. If I hear "It's time for Paul to take over" I'll barf. When have you ever heard "It's Duncan Time"?

How about It's Griffin time or It's Jordan time pick your MFing poison. Even though Stu "EEEEEasy Deuce" Lantz says "It's Kobe time" It was really Jackson time. It's Popovich time. Not saying we should fire VDN but we need better coaching. We should NEVER be a jump shooting team.

If Hollins can stop fouling he's a decent center.

Strange but with BG hurt Hollins/ DJ/ CP3/ Jamal/ Matt and Bledsoe or Willie. Run things through DJ. He can pass. The swallows will come back to Capistrano before HOU got a board.

To quote the ols Brooklym Trolley Dodgers. Wait till next ye. If done right we can be the only team to challence miami but it can't be CP3 takes over. Le Bron is not a human being this year.

From ESPN: http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/clippers/post/_/id/4304/rapid-reac tion-rockets-98-clippers-81

Schedule loss?

Whenever an NBA team has to play four games in five nights, it's commonly referred to as a "schedule loss." It's almost impossible to play two consecutive back-to-backs, separated by just one day, and win the fourth game. It showed tonight, as the Clippers were simply out of gas. They were routinely beat down the floor in transition, couldn't stop the Rockets' dribble penetration, and lacked the explosion that makes their offensive attack so potent. Every team suffers schedule losses, but the Clippers' loss proves costly because it affects their playoff seeding.

I found this to be a good point.

While he makes a public statement, you should write a letter to the commissioner!

Because I'm sure the issue will be immediately addressed!!

Dude, the officiating is uneven, unfair whatever u want to call it, but it's not going to change anytime soon.

The constant harping, talking, complaining about it every game hasn't gotten us anywhere.

Majority is an agreeance, but it's a moot point.

It's an uncontrollable factor in the game.

Our team needs to man up like they did at the beginning of the year and find ways to win.

A letter from a fan... funny.

If this stuff is addressed publicly by high-profile people, the league themselves are far more likely to take it seriously... and if the owner and the media are making a noise about biased officiating, then maybe the players won't feel like they have to.

It's an echo chamber, where if something is repeated often enough or shouted loudly enough, it becomes truth... like the whole world outside of hardcore Clippers fans saying, "Griffin can only dunk".

If they're forced to examine the issue, do you think the media wouldn't concede that Dirk flopped or Duncan travelled? ...and that those 2 calls alone might well cost us our seed? It won't change the past, but if Stern thinks the sports media is questioning the legitimacy of the officiating in his league, it may change things in the future. In soccer, bad calls and the fuss surrounding them has already led to a 4th official and they're well on the way to goal-line technology. In basketball, we now have instant-review on certain calls. So you're wrong to say that nothing will ever change.

Age of wikipedia, dude... where the loudest voices are writing history.
