Magic number= combination of your wins and opponents losses.

Clippers to finish ahead of Memphis= 5 Memphis to finish ahead of clippers= 4

Clippers to finish ahead of Denver= 6 denver to finish ahead of clippers= 3

Denver to finish ahead of Memphis= 3 Memphis to finish ahead of Denver= 6

will update daily until all 3 spots are clinched. Hard but not impossible. With 2 games left last season clippers magic number was 1, memphis' magic number was 4 and they did it.

I think we can win out all of our games. I would rather play Memphis with us having home court advantage than playing Denver or GSW.

Thanks for the post. Denver has too easy of a schedule for us to tie their record. It would be a miracle for us if they lose those games.

Memphis we can definitely catch. They play AT Houston on Friday. Hope Houston can help us.

Houston win vs Memphis and we beat New Orleans... then we win against Memphis Saturday and we have HCA.

There is a possibility Houston overtakes the 6 seed.

likely standings/matchups:

  1. OKC VS 8. LAL 4/5.LAC vs 4/5. MEM

  2. SAS vs 7.HOU 3.DEN vs 6.GSW

IF HOU overtakes GSW (looks 50/50 at this point), and Clips take 3 seed (less likely maybe a 20/80) we get this:

  1. OKC VS 8. LAL 4.DEN vs 5. MEM

  2. SAS vs 7.GSW 3.LAC vs 6.HOU

Houston can help us and themselves and we get a 3-6 matchup. They are the least likely team to come in to LA and steal one, even with HCA DEN, MEM and GSW can come and steal one here.

Bottom line, if the Clippers win out they get HC, even if Memphis wins all their other games (except against us) we'd be tied, but we have the tiebreaker.

Clips control their own destiny... against Memphis at least.

These are the times when you realize how important every single game is. Some games that come to mind that I would want back were our first 2 losses of the season and the Magic game at home, those were just terrible performances.

True. BTW, how come there is no possibility the Lakers stay out? Question

True but:

  1. Im a laker fan
  2. Laker vs clipper 2nd round would be huge (even if there is only a 0.001% chance)
  3. doesnt matter seeding wise 8th WILL be either JAZZ/LAL no movement left their as is the case with the other 7. All other 7 teams CAN still shuffle.

We would crush the lakers In a seven game series. Any lakers fan that wants that series can't do math. They haven't beat us once in four tries.

Did I say they would win? Do you realize im a clipper fan as well? I am posting in a clipper forum and I am posting as a clipper fan.

The way I see and the reason it would be HUGE from MY perspective is the moment that a series like that is official, before any games are played, LA is gauranteed a spot in the WCF. Get it? Hardly anything to do with math.

IF Kwame brown doesnt leave TIM THOMAS open in 06, game 6 suns vs lakers, the lakers advance, we get LAL VS LAC, therefore gauranteeing LA in the Conference finals vs MAVS, Clips matched up well with the MAVS that year. What couldve been if not for ONE play.

I'll keep hope alive but I dont think Denver is losing the 3rd seed. As for Memphis, I believe the Clippers/ Memphis game will determine who gets HCA. Won't be easy as the Clippers have yet another pair of back 2 backs.

What I find amazing is we have days off between games,,then right before it is over they do this to us.

I think we can kiss the 3 spot long gone,,may main focus now as a fan is to see us keep 4th and have HC over Mem.

our focus should be to just get HC advantage. it'll be disappointing if we finish with the 5th best record in the west again (even after adding so many players in the off season), and miss out on HC again.

all we have to do is hope the rockets beat memphis their next game, and for us to beat them after that. that's already 2 losses for the grizz and a win for us. If we can win in NOLA, even better for us. that would have HC locked for us if that happens.

Yeah with the Rockets playing at home, they SHOULD beat Memphis. Friday and Saturday are huge days for us. If Memphis loses to Houston and us, and we beat NO, our record would be: 54-26

Memphis would be: 53-27.

We would be 1 up on the loss column. We also have the tiebreaker on them.

This is blasphemy but I hope LAL is #8. Kobe is doing the impossible. For raw courage and will he's right up there with Jordan. Even with D 12 getting smoked like a cheap cigar Kobe plays 48 min and scores 47 pts.

He deserves it. The only player ever who could have played those minutes and still crush you was Wilt. His wasn't an act of will. He was the greatest physical specimen ever. It was easy for him so that doesn't count.

I'm not really worried about anybody but Denver and OKC if they get it together.

If CP can give minutes to EB, Hollins stops fouling. Billups plays limited minutes and Willie Guns is the man. This is doable. Let Barnes be our mean example. No Layups - Roni

It will be heaven if Hill can play. Durant of course worries me. As far as Denver, Galinari always torched us and isn't he gone?

When DJ was getting torched by the TWolves' Godzilla didn't I see some weak side help finally and some defensive rotations?

Our biggest problem is defending the three.

Live by the jump shot? Maybe but we forget. Butler, Billips, Bledsoe and Willie Guns

Whlie waiting for my beer to chill I got bored. It's difficult to determine the average 3% percentage of an NBA player since the stats are so skewed. Live by the three

Bledsoe - 71 attempts 0.402. WHY IN THE NAME OF BOB COUSEY AREN'T THEY LETTING HIS SHOOT?

Willie Guns 0.430 last yr 0.442 not a fluke

Paul 0.338 bad year

Butler 0.385

Billups 0.375 a bad year

Jamal 0.369 has been 0.440

Matt the Ultimate Clipper 0.347

Kobe 0.321

Kidd 0.358

Nash 0.438

House in a 2 year slump 0.389

NOVAK ~~ 50%

Korver 0.454

Miller 0.404

Mike Smith 0.175

Fan hitting half court shot 0.000001

Chance of Stu Lantz's IQ hitting a number higher than his age 0.000

If Ireland is an Irishman true to his heritage what are the chances that his ridiculous remarks are because he's blind drunk 100% (I'm part Irish, you can now understand some of my comments)

Chance of TooHip taking another shot 100%

I FORGOT PIATKOWSKI 0.434

We all now our team is more talented this year than last year, but pur fade down the stretch has put us in the same position as last year. We need to beat Memphis on Saturday, that is the game where we will see if we truly have improved or not.

last year we won 60% of our games=49-33 this year we will finish 55-27 give or take a game.

Realistically no clippers can win tomorrow and still not get HCA. The winner of tomorrow will knock of 2 off their magic number against each other and 1 of off their Denver magic number.

enter houston and golden state into the potential rd 1 opposition mix.

memphis (imo opinion, they're the best of the mix and i cant stand them) denver (no gallo and lawson's iffy, yet still super super dangerous) houston (best possible matchup) gsw (a team ive grown to hate. im a fan of curry and thompson's game, but cant stand coach jackson or their bootleg bench. horrible matchup since we cant defend the 3)

ranking the opposition (according to favorable matchups) 1. houston 2. denver 3. memphis 4. gsw

ranking the opposition (who id love to throttle) 1. memphis 2. golden state 3. denver 4 houston

Grizzlies easily have the toughest road ahead schedule-wise. First us playing for home court advantage, then go to Dallas playing to finally shave off their moronic beards, then last game versus Utah playing for their post season lives. We definitely have to win tomorrow but we may end up not just winning the tie breaker but being a game (or 2?) ahead. Denver needs to keep doing what they did tonight... Losing. Man, how exciting is this Clipper Nation?
