We will win this series, and we will make a real deep playoff run. Our bench is just too damn good. You have Billups, CP3, Butler harassing you, and than you have JCross, EBled, and Barnes running you out the gym. I just don't see how Memphis will beat us.

Really Chuck?? You think your so-called "better" team isn't going to make a game out it with 10+ mins to go in the game. No faith Chuck in "your" team eh big boy. Way to cover your large posterior there Charles.

Oh and the actual better team found a way to win the close one. There will be plenty more of those type games in the "real" season Chuck....it's called the playoffs LOL.

I am worry about the game ending match up. I do not understand why VDN goes with Chauncey Billups and Jamal Crawford instead of Bledsoe and Barnes. Billups and Crawford are exactly the same type of player who can't do much on defense and do some or none at all in offense.

Foul trouble or not Bledsoe should of come in earlier. He changed the game.

I heard that on NBA TV by Scott, I want to know why the whole league hates the Clippers. I don't get it at all, TNT (except Shaq), NBA TV, the refs. Last nights win was like a big FU to all of them. They talk about "the push off" but don't talk a no call on Blake getting mauled, turning into a turn over, then leak out dunk, and a no contact 3 point play. That right there was a gift wrapped 5 point swing at near close of game. I can take bad officiating to a point, but when refs give these huge calls that swing points so quickly it is ridiculous. Here's an idea refs, put the whistles in your pocket and let them play.

a sweep would be the best thing but you are talking about an 11 game streak.

Bledsoe and the bench did change the game and build the lead in the 4th but he also had a couple of bad shots and turnovers which forced Vinny to bring CP3 back in. I'm not sure why Vinny didn't bring in Bledsoe to play defense down the stretch instead of Billups.

This (among others on this page) is a pretty good article about the fouling in the game that some people have been talking about. That and the article at the top called Clippers are a Hell of a Drug... both pretty positive for us.

Why didnt Bledsoe close the game? We needed his defense

I see an ongoing positive trend. The bench really made their own runs late in the 3rd and early in the 4th of game 1 and two. Hope this will continue in the remaining games. Every time they go on these defensive and offensive spurts, it helps the starters to secure the win. Game 1, the Grizz were not able to come back from it and game 2, they almost did. I am sure the Grizz coaching staff knows this but they are not able to stop it. Without these spurts, especially in game 2, I know we will not be up 2-0. Give it up to the bench.

What a game. Let's look at some numbers. Clippers out-shoot the Grizzlies from the floor 47% to 45%, despite shooting just 2-15 from 3pts! Clippers out-rebound Memphis again and had 10 blocks. In the regular season, Memphis was 3rd in opponent fg% at a stingy 43.5%. While the Clippers did get out and run sometimes, shooting 47% on the Grizz does not point to a bad half-court offense like haters (e.g. Barkley) are saying. Clippers are playing great and critics need to get over it. I don't think it was really the clippers blowing a 10pt lead as much as Memphis, a very good team, fighting back and playing great D. That being said, I thought Odom made some pretty boneheaded plays and fouls that really opened the door and allowed them to get back into the game. But they still got a hard-fought win against a good team, much thanks to CP3 (JUST WOW). Now imagine if LAC could have hit any threes yesterday. GO CLIPPERS!

chauncey not making his shot hurt alot of things. Butler was never able to get open from deep, nobody was really able to get open from deep. We played hard, but shots weren't falling yesterday, and I doubt that'll happen next game.

In this matchup, he should play at least 20 mins. He should have came in early to shut down Conley.

He should have. Cp3, Bledsoe, Crawford, odom, Blake should have been the lineup. When Arthur played, Barnes could have played the 4 since Arthur sucks at scoring inside and rebounding.

I made a thread about this before game 1. I said Vinny NEEDS to play Bled 20+ every night and first night he did (like 19 minutes) and Bledsoe dominated. Last night Bledsoe dominated again in very few minutes but Vinny benched him WAY too long.

Another thing I noticed. When Conley guarded Bledsoe, he would get burned because Conley was gassed and too tired. Ralph and mike kept commenting that Conley was tired. He did play around 43 minutes.

The good news for us is that Memphis played more to their capacity and more to their style than us and we still won. Tony Allen had like 15 and 10 and was shooting lights out and Conley nearly dropped 30. Not to mention Zbo+Marc had nice bounceback games. The odds of all 4 guys playing that well again in that series is VERY slim. Blake and Paul on the other hand having 20+ a piece is pretty common, as is Crawford scoring 15 off the bench (below his 16.5 season average). I expect us to win 1 of 2 in Memphis.

Mike Conley said something very telling himself after the game when he said "I thought we played as well as we possibly could".

^yup. Randolph could have played better but Conley and Allen definitely won't play as good as yesterday. We can get 1 in Memphis! Refs will be a huge factor though.

If Barkley's prognostications were worth anything, he wouldn't have had a gambling problem. I never heard a gambler who actually wins describe himself as "having a problem"... only those who consistently lose.

It wasn't QUITE as loud as last year (maybe due to it being a Monday night) but the crowd was pretty into it. The place exploded and got especially loud for Blake's and Bledsoe's dunks in the fourth, and of course Paul's game winner.

This. I love Chauncey but the pace seems to be a lot slower when he's out there. Actually, I thought the CP3-Chauncey-Bledsoe unit worked well in Game 1 and should have been out there last night. We need something that will compensate Chauncey's lack of defense.

I am a fan of starting Chauncey, but he shouldn't be playing more than Bledsoe. If Chauncey isn't hitting his shots, he's our biggest liability on the defensive end. Last night he was getting attacked every time down the floor by Tony Allen et. al., and just giving up layups and transition buckets. Also, any 3 guard lineup without Bled would just be too porous on perimeter D. Wish VDN would've kept Bled in the game longer in the 4th since he would've put a lot more pressure on Conley than CP3 or any of our other guards can. Since we won, I'm cool with it.. but hopefully VDN makes some adjustments.

Memphis reminded me a lot of Chicago. Chicago lost convingly to the Nets in game 1, like Memphis did to us. They are a great defensive team, like Memphis. They came out with something to prove and turned it into a defensive struggle. The difference is, unlike Brooklyn, we won the game and Memphis is a better overall team than Chicago.

I'm annoyed that Memphis fans seem emboldened by the second loss...we need to buckle down defensively. I just find it funny that the storyline seems to be that Grizzlies have momentum going into Game 3. This never should have come down to a CP3 bailout (though it was a spectacular shot).

On a side note, is it me, or do commentators have almost an irrational hatred/distrust of the Clippers? I don't see any other team scrutinized so much in victory. All this talk about CP3's final shot being an offensive foul is so annoying. It is just because he plays for the Clippers and people seem to be obsessed with the narrative of the Clips being bad/a laughingstock.

and destroying this narrative is like taking away a security blanket or comfort object. it's sad and funny at the same time.

Has Vinny explained why Bled sat down the stretch? That three headed monster was working.

For ending games against Memphis, we should IMHO go with JCross, EBled, CP3 3 headed dragon.

They should have Jordan in there to close instead of Odom. He matches up better with Gasol, and is probably better than Odom in general at this point, especially on defense. He played pretty well last night and probably should have closed the game out. The main thing against DeAndre is his free throw shooting. 2 things about that:

  1. Odom isn't much better from the line. He's been awful as well, shooting in the 45% range.

  2. In the last two minutes, you can't do hack a Shaq. So the only way DeAndre is shooting free throws at the end of the game is if he is fed the ball on offense, which the team doesn't do too much.

When there was 20 seconds left and Memphis had the ball down 2, I'm not sure why VDN did not have DeAndre in the game. I mean, Gasol had essentially nobody that could guard him on that wide open dunk he made.
