We got our favorite matchup in Memphis instead of moving up and drawing the deadly Warriors. Without Lee, Rush and other key pieces the Warriors dropped 131 on the Nuggets last game. It got me thinking how we are honestly lucky that Denver or SA will eliminate them for us so we don't have to face our biggest weakness. If we can get passed OKC in the next round I see us going to the finals.

No. They're a solid team, but they're much less physical than Memphis. We would have been fine against them.

Denver was at home gman... that must not be forgotten. It was Denver's first home loss in like 30 games. Not only did Denver lose but they got blown out. Again... I was just reflecting on how good it is to get the Teddy Bears instead.

Scarey to think if Nuggets would have missed that last second shot there could be a chance they would be 0-3!!!!!

Grizzlies are a championship contender, Warriors are not. We would be so lucky to get them in the West Finals.

Good point, but it is not just about how good a team is, it's about match ups too.

Yes i understand they were at home (38-3 reg season i believe)

Still, denver relies heavely on running. Enter the warriors. They are a free flowing team, maybe not as good as denver but their 3pt shooting is what separates both teams (steph curry doesnt hurt either).

Paul and bledsoe are better defenders than lawson (not sure if he is playing, not following the series) and oldman miller.

I rather face the GSWs than the Spurs. Hopefully they can get rid of them for us.

It's just further proof that the Nuggets superstarless run n gun style doesn't work in the playoffs.

Warriors look like a finals team in the playoffs so far, not kidding. Grizzlies are very very formidable but the Warriors are INSANE.

Who actually thinks the Warriors can beat the Spurs, assuming Warriors advance, in the next round? Don't get me wrong, Warriors without David Lee are impressive but the Nuggets don't have that closer or MVP caliber player to go to when the game is tight. Danilo Gallinari was maybe the closest player but unfortunately Danilo got injured. The Warriors on the other hand have Curry who has been somewhat overlooked all season and is now shining more than ever. Curry is a superstar no doubt. The Clippers would have struggled with the Warriors too but with David Lee out you know Blake Griffin would have dominated... But the Clippers have the Grizzlies to worry about. Long story short, the Warriors will get "Popoviched" and the Spurs will be in the Western Finals again. If for some reason the Warriors beat the Spurs than I will be shocked.

The Clippers, in my eyes, will still beat the Grizzlies. I just hope this series against the Grizzlies will make the Clippers stronger and tougher. OKC without Westbrook is a plus for the Clippers not to mention that the Clippers depth will be key. Honestly the Clippers have a solid chance of making the Western Finals...

I think the Warriors CAN beat anybody but the Heat. WILL they? No. But to act like they don't have the talent to do so is ignorant.

There is no home-court I fear most than Oracle Arena. Warriors always seem to go on a 3-point bonanza against us.

They (GS) seem to have found an extra gear,,they seem to want it more then anyone and that can be really dangerous

Exactly why I'm fallen in love with them in these playoffs. They look like they want it more than ANYBODY which like you said is VERY dangerous.

I think the Warriors' only downfall is their playoff experience. Richard Jefferson is literally their only player who has gone to the conference finals, and he is a fringe role-player now.

Curry is crazy good. Hes destroying the nuggets by himself. Denver has many flaws. terrible defense, and cant shoot outside consistently. They are only good at driving and fast breaks. The warriors defense is rubbish but offense is unbelievable.

Golden states homecourt is great. Great fans and loud support.

Actually the Warriors defense is very good, especially now that Bogut has gotten healthy. All year long their D was around the top 10-15 range.

Warriors take out nuggets.

Warriors take out spurs.

We face warriors in WCF. They will just be happy to be there and will be due for some bad shooting. Probably an easy series (just like Memphis, lol).

Warriors have something that the Nuggets lack a guy that can take over and close games in Curry. This is vital for the playoffs and is what Denver is missing in order to become elite.

I don't know how anyone can stop Curry the way he shoots. He shoots so quickly. You can only hope he, and his teammates, look human once we play them.

Agree. If you look at pretty much all of the NBA championship teams in the past (excluding the Detroit team), every team pretty much had a superstar to help them win. Denver has a lot of good players but no one great IMO.

When you suck at 3PT defense like he Clips do, it's no surprise

This isn't even the reason why they are loosing, and Lawson is averaging 23/3/8 in 38.5 MPG, problem is that they can't defend GS

Billups could take control of a game late and close, he was no superstar but he was capable of making big shot, thus the nick name.

I agree you need to be somewhat good defensively come playoff time. If you have an elite offense, your defense only needs to be slightly above average. Also, you can have an elite offense but if you don't have a guy that can take over, your not going to make it to the finals. This is why stat geeks love teams like Denver and the recent spurs, they are efficient teams, but dynamics change come playoff time. How do you measure pressure or heart? There has to be a balance between efficiency and heart IMO.

On the other hand, if you have an elite defense you need a superstar or at the least some one that can close games. Memphis has an elite defense, but they have no Billups as Detroit did, or a Pierce/Allen combo as Boston did. Memphis won't win a championship with the current team structure.

I think Rip actually did more closing as a scorer from the field, Billups usually closed games at the FT line, but he wasn't specifically good at hitting late game shots. But really it's a case by case basis, Ty Lawson seems like a decent enough scorer that if they had a lock down defense along with many scorers, they would be fine. Karl also hurts them with some of his decisions like playing Corey Brewer, etc

The Nuggets are just not a playoff team. Steph Curry should have been an all star over David Lee. Aside from Ty Lawson, the Nuggets don't have an all star level player. Lawson can't take over games while Steph Curry can. Another thing, Andrew Bogut has been the Warriors unsung hero. I put money down that the Warriors are eff'd if Bogut goes down again.

I think Landry is a more than capable replacement for Lee. The drop off isn't as big as people thought it would be. They are pretty deep in the front court and overall as a team. If Curry went down, I think they lose that edge and killer instinct. You need that to win the playoffs. Paul and Billups have it. The latter is too old and washed up for it to be effective. Blake lacks killer instinct.

Bogut has really paid off even though he has barely played. He is a game changer when healthy and losing Monta is just addition by subtraction.

The hurt technically was supposed to come from not having a big to score off the bench. The problem is that Denver has gone super small and has helped Golden State in terms of front-court depth issues

A7XDreamTheaterClipps, I think Lawson did a good himself in "taking" over, similar to Curry. He had like 14 on good shooting in the 3rd quarter himself to keep the Nuggets in the game. The Nuggets just can't defend. Even if Lawson took over more, Golden State is scoring 112.8 PPG on 53% FG and 44.1% 3PT, 113.8 Ortg.

If your gameplan is to combat that with offense of your own, well, good luck. If any team gives up that kind of offensive production to GS, they will lose. SA has a 112.9 Ortg so far through the playoffs, OKC 111.8, Miami 110.3 All great offensive teams, and even if they gave up that much offensively, they would be loosing to GS.
