My brother is the biggest Lakers fan and we tend to bump heads a lot. As far as how I see the Lakers in general... I don't. Ever since the Kobe / Shaq fiasco, I can't stand them. I love Shaq and can't stand Kobe. If Kobe wasn't there I would have no feelings towards them..at least not bad feelings. Believe it or not, I think the Lakers would not skip a beat this year if Kobe wasn't there. They have the talent without him.
My brother doesn't believe me but if you remember last season when Kobe was hurt during the start, the were playing as a team and winning. In any case, I am glad for them and wish them well this year but as far as the fans go, I think 50% of them are "fair weathered fans". |

I personally have nothing against the Lakers. I used to be a Lakers fan before coming to the "unheralded" side. I liked them alot with Ced Ceballos, Eddie Jones & Nick Van Exel. Then Kobe came and I enjoyed watching him, but even though Shaq helped win 3 titles, I couldnt stand having him on the team. I starting to get bored with being a Lakers fan, so I decided to cheer for the team nobody liked.
I respect what the Lakers have done this season, but I'm still a diehard Clipper fan for the rest of my life. GO CLIPPERS!! |

I fourth that. Laker fans are arrogant bandwagoners. THey only go for the Lakers when they win. They are unloyal , unlike Clipper fans. I honestly couldn't have put it bbetter than clipperfan714 did. They wear their jerseys everywhere even to Clipper games. They think they're gonna win 60 games and win the championship, no matter how unrealistic it is. Some even think Andrew Bynum is currently better than Elton Brand, Chris Kaman, and every single player on the Clippers. They idolize Kobe, and will follow him wherever he goes as long as that team wins. |

| I agree also - the Laker fans are not knowledgeable and unrealistic. I saw their chat on a Laker website. Quotes such as "we haven't won a title in 3 years". So feel they are entitled to a championship. And their behavior at games is atrocious. They relish in the misfortune of others. So it's more the fans than the team that irk me. |

| I dont have a problem with the Lakers but the Lakers fans. They only cheer for the team when they win and when they lose they piss and moan. I dont think there are hardly any real Lakers fans out there. They are all bandwagon fans before they had Gasol they would talk trash about him and now that they got Gasol hes the man. Now everybody has Gasol jerseys. I bet most didnt even know who he was before the Lakers. The thing that really pisses me off was when Kobe was in Sacramento and was holding his jersey out showing the Lakers logo when they were winning and every Laker fan was thats awesome. Then the next game Ron Artest does the same thing and they say thats disrespectful. Whenever i wear my Clipper stuff Laker fans talk trash but my response to them is since your such a diehard Laker fan name the whole team or at least ten players. I usually get 6 players top (Kobe,Bynum,Odom,Gasol,Fisher). I could go on and on but ill stop there. |

| Theyre's a big difference between LA's Laker fans and fans elsewhere. I lived back east and was a Laker/Celtic (Wilt Russell) fan. It wasn't trendy, we were real fans. LAL fans - Fickle, yes but so are Clipper fans .People forget when we were in the PO's the home games belonged to us and there was talk of us displacing the Lakers. Now our home games are away games. Also LAL has more glitz (not to be confused with talent) and a history It's called Brand Recognition (no pun intended but not bad) LAL fans don't know who Farmar is. They probably don't know what color the road jerseys are. If we'd beaten out LAL in the PO's last yr and done well this yr, the song would be different |

| OK, now its time for a little truth. The question was how do you feel about the Lakers? Most of you want to talk about the fans because they are an easier target. But the team! The truth is that Laker management over the decades has been HUGE compared to the Clippers in their ability to spend money, draft, trade, and sign players that make the Lakers constant contenders instead of a team on the outside looking in. Lately, the Clips have finally made strides in signing a core of front line players who can get them to the playoffs. But even when we do that they spend chump change on their bench. The Lakers bench could beat us right now if the entire starting 5 sat the game out. The Clippers will never be as good as the Laker organization until the owner totally commits, and lets one man make the player personnel decisions and stop this decision by committee crap that even includes bean counters. It all starts from the top down. We need to build a first class starting lineup and a first class bench. The Lakers have been doing this since forever. We have never done it. That is the reason they win championship and we buy tickets trying to win the lottery. I have been both a Laker and a Clipper fan for decades. But I pull for both teams for different reasons. I have been there since before Jerry West and Elgin Baylor rocked the world. The Lakers have been a class organization ever since. I pull for the Clippers because I always love an underdog. Eventually, every dog has its day. And for these underdogs, the sun will come out, tomorrow. Tomorrow's just a day away. We will be rewarded for our committment to this team. I can feel it. I just wished they would make me the one guy who gets to make all the player decisions so I could reward all you guys sooner. I would break the bank......fast. Sterling would certainly lose a few more million from his fat checkbook. And free beer for all the fans....eh...huh....I guess I'm getting carried away. |

u guys dont know about the die hard laker fans, sure there are bandwaggoners too but every good team has bandwaggoners,
and if the clippers ever became a good team you would know that.
And also, I think it is 100% your Front offices fault for your team sucking.
I think that the Clippers have had more talented players in the last 10 years than the lakers ( not better players, but more players that are talented).
You guys have had daruis miles, quentin richardson, andre miller, sam cassel, elton brand, lamar odom, and cory maggette
and you guys still have had like 1 good season
P.S. Do you guys still like Lamar Odom |

O wow. You know, in 2005-2006, we kind of made it way past you did in the playoffs. They were good. One game from the Western Conference finals. The bandwagoning did not show. Your attendance just keeps fluctuating and ours is co. nsistent always, even during the good years.
Odom did a really bad job for us, he was always hurt and didn't contribute to this team.
THe Clippers hve had a better record than your Lakers for 2 out of the last 3 seasons. (04-05, 05-06) |

Regarding Odom - I'm no longer of fan of Odom. He took some cheap parting shots at the Clippers when he signed with Miami. He said that the Clippers never gave him an opportunity to advance his career. In fact, they gave him a starting role and supported him when he had his ongoing drug problems. So it was really himself that limited his career. He has a severe lack of class.
Is he a good player? Yes, better than average. |

Beg to differ, I would contemplate choosing another team if Kobe ever became a Clipper. I detest everything he stands for. In fact, if Kobe left the Lakers I would follow them. I like the players they have now but my hate for Kobe makes me watch the games in hopes of losing. I know it sounds a bit extreme but that is just the way I feel. |

I think Kobe is still the best overall player in the game right now. He's near his peak (or maybe already at it), but there's still about 4 more years of bigtime production left in him. Then he'll start to drop.
I liked Odom coming out of college. He did disappoint when with the Clippers, but is an important part of the Lakers now.
JamFan may be on to something about Clippers management confering on decisions. I think the committee thing decreases aggressiveness. One man should be the leader of decisions. He can ask input from others, but besides a few (Brand, Maggette, Thornton), we've been getting average and suspect talent. The Clippers havent had much of chance to see talent take shape. Part of that was the long tradition of being drafted here, not caring about winning and leaving in Free-Agency to another team. Brand changed that and now we're starting to see a winning attitude. This is an extremely important off-season. There isnt many players that are guaranteed here next year, and we have big holes to fill. Clippers brass needs to be aggressive, but smart. Draft the right guys, and sign the right guys for the right price. It's what all organizations try to accomplish. The Clippers future of their franchise depends on the success/failure of this draft and offseason. |

| As a basketball fan its hard not to appreciate how the Lakers are playing right now. They're moving the ball around and getting shots from all over the court depending on who's open... which is just the way it should be. And like it or not, it all stems from Kobe. He's the straw that stirs that particular drink. Kobe has gotten away from the "I have to get it done ALL the time 'cause I'm the only one that can" attitude that had hamstrung the Laker's effort, just as the early Jordon did with the Bulls years past, and has learned to trust his teammates. It has of course helped that the Lakers have brought in quality teammates, but it's still Kobe that's the prime mover there. And why not? Like it or not he's the best player on the planet. LBJ will be, and maybe soon, but not yet. Kobe IS arrogant, but so was Jordan, and so was Bird for that matter. Back then, if Jordan wasn't the trash talkingest player in the league it was only because Bird was. That sort of arrogance may well be part of the ultimate confidence that makes a player in that elevated stratosphere KNOW that they can't be stopped with 10 seconds left. Kobe can still take over when he needs to... he's just smart enough now to know when he needs to, but also that he can pass to an open teammate for a winning shot on occasion too. How do I feel about the Lakers? Love to watch them play like they're playing now, and wish that we were playing that way. With EB, CK, Thornton, and a few more key parts, I'm looking forward to US being at that level, or at least close. To actually be there, you may need a transcendent player, one of Kobe's stature, or Duncan's say. Could Brand be that guy, could Thornton? It seems a main requirement is making your teammates better. Can they do that? It'll be interesting and fun next year finding out. Hmmm... maybe with Rose... |
