Title says it all. Maybe Willie didn't f*ck a ref's wife... or run over his dog... or vice versa.

Anyway... we've been at our best when Willie starts. I hope Chauncey can see that, because it's not easy for a young coach to sit a finals MVP.

Make the call yourself, Chauncey... for the good of the team.

To be straight and forward. Chauncey needs to benched and Willie needs to be our starting sg. Hes just not himself. I really like Billups but hes hurting us more than helping. Willie is a bigger and better defender and he was shooting lights out down the stretch of the reg season leading into the playoffs. Its a shame that our coaching staff dont see it. What do you guys think??

Green definitely needs to start. Billups is done. The only way he benefits the team right now is on the bench.

I third this motion. I was hating on Green early in the season but he's been proving me wrong .

Let Billups keep starting so we can lose the series and Vinny gets fired by next week. It will hurt like hell now but will be worth it in the end.

Starting Willie would shake things up on Memphis and im just not sure Billups is the same guy anymore. Im a FULL SUPPORTER of Willie starting.

I agree. As much as I love Billups I think he should come off the bench too, Free Willy!

Agreed. The Clippers can't push the tempo with Billups on the floor. Willie spaces the floor better and is more active on D. Billups serves better as a back up PG.

It may benefit Chauncey to come off the bench. But simply said Willie should be our starting SG

Green does a better job of drifting to the open spots on the floor, hits his shots, moves the ball, and plays better defense. Billups plays to close to Paul while Green does a better job of floating into the corners.

I'm in too. Start Willie. But I doubt VDN reads this board. Ah well.

Green has been playing well all season long and he gets benched just because of seniority. He only gets garbo time minutes now. What a joke!

He has worked hard and been a professional all season long.

I've been in since before Chauncey's last injury. Other than his first couple of games back, he became the invisible man. I started to wonder openly here on the forums if we just didn't play better with Willie on the floor.

This was BEFORE Willie actually started balling.

Willie wasn't putting up great number in the first half of the season, yet we were one of the (if not THE) best team in the West. Maybe it was Willie's defense. Maybe it's the added pressure on Paul. Somehow we're better with Willie. Then Chauncey went out to injury again and Willie came back flat out BALLING! That should have been a statement.

And we're saying Willie, not Bledsoe because we need some consistent shooting on this team.

My only concern is the media will probably consider it a "desperation" move...however, it's simply a move that makes sense. Go with the guy that's been a starter when the Clippers were at their best.

Start Willie. Play Billups 10 mpg unless he plays well. Play Bledsoe 20 mpg minimum.

Hmmm...we should probably combine this threat with the Chauncey dilemma one.

I've never seen a moderator that trolls so much. I hate Vinny, but your mentality is just mind-boggling. We have to win this series.

If Chauncey doesn't want to give room for Willie, then it's almost like you wish injury on him. Please Chauncey, let Willie start and you'll still get some minutes. On the other hand, this is up to Vinny as well. He needs to show Chauncey who's boss. He's got nothing to lose if Chauncey gets pissed off anyway.

Dude, WTF?

Why don't you just pray for a career-ending injury to one of our players while you're at it?

Start Willie, finish it off with Billips. I would say play Willie the whole game but he's a role player and role players typically buckle under pressure in the playoffs. Billups' poise and free throw shooting are invaluable down the stretch.

We still have two home games, let's just try to win it, Oklahoma doesn't have Westbrook, I hope our player know it. If we, lose this, They have a chance to beat OKC and go to WCF.

^ Agreed. You'd have to give Vinny his props if he didn't start Billups for game 5.

Given the circumstances, it's unlikely... but that would be gangsta.

Everybody knows that... The thing is that Westbrook could be out a MINIMUM of about 10 days. We could be pissing away our window with these poor showings in Memphis.

#1. The second round doesn't start until ALL 1st round series are finished.

#2. Westbrook is done for the year.

And, nothing to do with your post, but I'm totally with grillinap (not often the case)... '86 has taken his panic to a whole new level.

Settle down, '86... we know you're unhappy with the coach, but damn boy, you can't be wishing for us to lose a series!

Not cool.

Willie would do a much better job staying in front of Tony Allen (yea, I know) who's actually scored more points than he ever has in his career against us.

Chauncey Billups needs to sit out- the Memphis guards are just too quick for him. And because he is not tall enough/fast enough, Memphis is able to sag off of him and recover quickly, forcing Chauncey to drive and do stupid stuff. ZERO point from your starting shooting guard? You have to be f*cking kidding me.

I don't know why Vinny Del Negro keeps staying with Chauncey despite his utter ineffectiveness on both ends of the floor. If we're afraid to make a logical move like this, we may well need a coach who has the balls to put aside biases and put out the most effective lineup/players, period.

Billups role needs to change period. Let him burn with the second unit. I dont mean write Bledsoe off from his mins but its gotta be a way to work Billups in with the bench. Willi3 gives us the best chance of winning this in 6 not 7. I dont want to seea game 7.

Can't really blame VDN here.CP3 wants Billups playing with him. That's why we resigned Billups and why he will continue to start.VDN is doing what ever he can do to keep CP3 happy because if CP3 wants Vinny gone, then Vinny will be.With both being FA in the off season you got to understand how much power CP3 has.

i was left speechless. wtf??

even if you dont like the coach, DJ (lack of effort), billups and butler for disappering, DJ (for leaving gasol open WITH .6 of a sec), cp and blake for not taking the fight to the grizzlies, and DJ (for his breakdowns) [yes im throwing DJ under a bus] i will pull for this team no matter what.

Im comfident, albeit frustrated rightnow, that we will win the series.

If DJ doesn't give us 10 points 10 boards and 3 blocks by the end of the 1st quarter from here on out, he should be benched the rest of the game. Larry Sanders got more boards and blocks than he did in like 1 minute more a game than DJ and DJ is taller, more athletic and was supposed to be a defensive minded C.

Poise is great and all, Michael Jordan would still be playing according to this logic. What good is poise if you lost all your skill and athleticism?

We need to start Willie. He was the starter when we had the 17 game winning streak. He's a more consistent shooter then billups, better defender, and cuts better without the ball.

Fully Agree. Has Vinny forgotten Chauncey was a POINT GUARD in the NBA for over 10 years. PG!

He's killing us. He still thinks he's 2004 Chauncey.

This is a big moment for Vinny to grow some balls and step up.

It is time to start Bledsoe and have billups run the second unit.

Bledsoe can't possibly open things up like Willie can. The whole point is that Chauncey can't hit the broad side of a barn right now.

Eeew, no thanks. Our bench unit is only effective when they defend tenaciously and play fast. Chauncey is not fast. We need to keep him as a late-game 3-point specialist to spread the floor for CP3 when Jamal is cold.

"Willie needs minutes" Mike Smith Nuff said?

Chauncey needs to go the way of Grant Hill. He's getting torched on D. I hope he's classy enough to bench himself, not come off the bench.

^^^Yeah, if VDN has no qualms about relegating old man Hill to the bench, I don't see why he's so afraid to give Billups the same treatment. But I don't see a change coming and it may well end up costing us the series.

Yeah, and the only 'good' positive thing about it - VDN gon' be gone!!

Seriously tho', does anyone here think that VDN has the balls so start Willie in a playoff game, with HEALTHY Chauncey on the roster? I don't...

Starting a game doesn't really mean crap in the NBA. Most teams have bench players that are better than at least 2 of their starting 5. San Antonio's most explosive player is Manu Giniobili and he'll play like 20 minutes or less in 1 game and be the player of the game easily.

I don't know if it's a pride thing for Chauncey, or what's going on but Chauncey is best suited to come off the bench with our 2nd unit. I'd rather rock out Chauncey, Bled and Crawford off the bench, and Willie probably wouldn't play more than 20 minutes anyways. This is the game where you can try something new, we are not in an elimination game and we are in front of the home crowd. Willie started 60 games for us this year, maybe he deserves a shot to get some momentum going for the first few minutes of the game.

What harm could come from this? I doubt Tony Allen goes off for 15 points in 3-6 minutes and if Willie struggles Chauncey can be subbed in right away.
