Not sure if people remember correctly but last year when the series still went to 7 games we were up 3-1 before Memphis won 2 in a row. This time? It's tied after being up 2-0. In other words.. Memphis now has all the momentum and went from nearly impossible to steal the series to 50/50. People need to understand with the attitude and effort of our players we don't just have a small chance of being out of the playoffs by next week but a decent one.

What's most frustrating is we aren't losing because Memphis is a better team or something. We AREN'T losing because the refs don't like us and give us BS fouls. We are losing because the guys have a nonchalant attitude and aren't as hungry as Memphis. Listen to Billups before game 3 and again after the loss tonight say "We didn't need those wins, that's why you have home court". I mean what kind of leader and finals MVP has that kind of horseshit attitude?

Take your games for granted and you get your asses wiped out just like the last two games when we lost by an AVERAGE of 17 ppg between the two games. You bet your ass we had to win those two games Chauncey. Because now you're likely faced with a game 7 which again means 1-2 days rest max before the next round instead of a week. Which likely means another 2nd round loss in 4-5 games max.

That's if you even get passed the first round. In other words.. we should be worried and the fact that our players lack that attitude or urgency is EXACTLY why we are tied 2-2 instead of up 3-1 or sweeping them.

BTW we should all go back to the thread I made where I said I was really worried about playing Memphis. I don't think a single person thought Memphis would be a problem at all. Whereas I had some jitters and concerns as a fan. Here we are tied 2-2 and playing like crap the last 2 games. Granted our next game is at home, but if we lose that the series is done. We are not going to win in memphis.

Unless Blake and DJ make giant strides and CP3 is still with the team, this is easily our best chance to make a deep playoff run count. I do not want to see Memphis beat OKC and it's either Memphis or San Antonio representing the West. BORING. I'll probably cheer for Miami if that's the case.

Amnesty I DO remember you calling it, so props to you. I wasn't worried when we went up 2-0 but after these two games of course I'm worried. We've been outplayed in 3 straight games with Memphis getting more dominant each time. People don't seem to understand that we are 1 CP3 game winner from being 1-3 in this series WITH homecourt. You worked your asses off so hard for homecourt only to get owned like this on the road?

That's what I said above you Razz . We are one INCREDIBLE CP3 game winner away from Grizzlies 3-1 lead. In game 2 Memphis made that big comeback and had all the momentum. If we go to OT I'm almost positive we lose.

I dont see us losing this series, but now we squandered an opportunity to come well rested into the okc series and healthy. Now weve obliged the grizzlies in making this a war. And we need to stop letting this team hang around they can injure our guys. Its time to close this **** out. no more hot and cold from billups and butler no more dj fouling out we need those three to step up

Also isnt this the grizzlies team that lost rudy gay? Arent we the clippers team that is supposed to be improved with a deep bench and a chauncey billups whom we cried was the reason we didnt go all the way last year? We better win this series because we wont have excuses

Page you bring up a great point about Billups. Even I was guilty last year of using the no Billups excuse. Now we are seeing if anything Billups is a big detriment to the team.

Do I think Billups would have helped us win in less tahn 7 games last year? Probably not. Do I think he would have made a difference in round 2? Yes. Maybe we win a game in round 2 with Billups there, better than being swept. Problem is, Billups isn't the same Billups anymore. He shouldn't be starting at all, he should be coming off the bench and either Green or Bledsoe should be starting.

I'm no genius but Memphis isn't a team to be trifled with. Even with Rudy the gay Gay not there, Tayshaun Prince and Ed Davis are no slackers, and Ed Davis took a huge leap this year getting ample playing time with Jonas Valenciunas out before he was traded.

If we lose this series, we need a new coach and DJ needs to be traded immediately, or released. I'd rather have the mascot for Jack In the Box in the paint. At least that company killed people, only thing DJ kills is leads and FT%

All we can hope now is we win our home games and advance.

We won in Memphis 2 weeks ago to get this advantage. It looks like we'll need it.

This is why every damn game counts. I honestly would have rather played Golden State, even though I hate it when our team plays there ( and Portland ). They live and die by the 3, but Cp3 and Bledsoe are much better defenders than Ty Lawson and Andre Miller.

I was extremely worried after watching that game 3 performance- that was the turning point. We had a chance to pretty much end their hopes, then Bledsoe was subbed out by Chauncey in the 4th and we were f*cked after that.

I was really worried too in game 2 after we blew that lead. We got lucky that CP came up clutch to bail us out. But you look at the +/- for the starters in the last 3 games, and you will see that the Clipper starters have been BADLY outplayed 3 games in a row now.

Chauncey was terrific last season before he got hurt, but man he just hasn't been nearly has effective- mostly likely because of the injuries. He was so good last season at drawing fouls- but this year not the case any more.

I definitely don't like to hear talk like that, especially by a leader such a Chauncey. But in the end, talk is cheap, and we will all find out in game 5 which team is hungrier.

If we don't win game 5, I say in game 6 we start Bledsoe and let him go on a rampage.

cleeps we got this series. I just see it as being a seven game affair because some of our players coast through these games. Im just not seeing the urgency from billlups or butler. Griff and paul are playing their hearts out but what else, and again we win this series but like last year fans will be frustrated with the half assed effort. Didnt like it last year dont like it now. We are better than memphis i firmly bepieve it now we need to play like we are better. Dude we have chauncey back, even signed crawford and lamar we should be light years ahead of these punks. Barkley is miling right now, fu#k him i want him to pay for doubting.

We win the next 2 games. I'm sure the guys are infuriated after being showered with food and drinks at the end of game 4, so we go home and cook them at Staples then stick it to them on their home floor in game 6. Like Cleeps said Don't worry.

Agree wholeheartedly. This is a series we could have taken care of in 5 games.

Last 2 games, Butler and Billups have been garbage, but DJ and even Blake haven't been much better. CP3 has been less than his awesome self, Jamal hasn't been hitting anything. Vinny has performed below his abilities, too.

All in all, it's been a shitty trip.

But let's be honest... if there weren't any drama, this wouldn't be the Clippers.

Don't worry wink

Didn't sound like a bet to me, dude... more like "I hope you're right... I'd do anything to win".

He didn't ask me to stake, so he "wins" nothing. That's not betting against the team.

Billups pre-injury and age at that point was a lot better then now, but we still would have lost to the Spurs because of how injured our team was.

Hello Clipper fans!

I've come to spread some optimism! This is the greatest season in Clipper history and I promise you it will not end in the first round. The Grizz won just as many games as us, we're favored in these last two games, and we should have known this was gonna be a dogfight. So enjoy it! These are the battles that define rivalries. Pshh who wants a sweep anyway?

Most likely this is going to go to a game 7 and it's going to be in our house this year. And there is no way we will lose that, not with the best leader in the league battling against a bunch of guys who fold when the pressure is on (or did we already forget last year?). You know Grizz fans crap their pants when the game is close and they are not going to blow us out in our house. We've owned Memphis for the better part of two years now and these two games don't change a thing. They were a wounded animal desperate for a win and we knew we had some breathing room. Now things are even and we'll put them back in their place. So don't freakout!

Go Clippers!

PS

I've been meaning to post on this board for a while as I am a huge fan, but when I saw that Clippersfan86 was a mod (who made THAT call?) I knew it wouldn't work... Just way too much volatility that comes with sports discussion and with a guy like that in charge, fuggedaboutit. I'm a regular at InsideHoops and, no offense to 86, but he's something of a joke there due to his overreactionary posts and got banned earlier this year after having a meltdown.

Hey lobcityredux. Nice to hear you have confidence. I still believe we will win the series despite all the negativity of all the posters and the bad play on the court by our players and the one sided refs. But I'm cautiously optimistic. We need to improve in many areas to beat Memphis, even in our home games. There's a lot to be concerned about. I think we will be better in many of the areas at home but it is concerning. I'll be praying that we win this series. Let's go clippers!!! We can do it!!!

WE can win this game we need a big game for Blake and DJ,specially for Griffin he should play as a superstar like Durant,Clippers paying him a lot and he should put it in his mind, that in order to pass this series with Memphis he should play as a superstar Like Durant who can carry his team to finals.

Success isn't final, failure isn't fatal.

We failed in MEM, but their success there doesn't mean this is over. They got two guys and that is really it (5 if you count refs) . Stop those two, Our guys have 2 days to figure this out.

But bench Chauncey.

We NEED to start WILLIE GREEN over Chauncey right now. Chauncey's SLOW movement on defense and awful shooting is killing us.

Yeah, its been a bad trip. Although I really cant say that I blame Vinny on this . I think as the games are starting to go on I see some things with our team that we do need to address. There is no doubt that Griffin and Chris are our best two players, and in crunch time they seem to be the only ones that can push through adversity. That being said though these two need more support. Ill start with DJ. Boy is this kid a liability. I see why Vinny doesnt like to have him in the game, he single handedly commits stupid fouls which give the grizzlies the charity stripe (and they have been killing us on free throws). In the small forward position Caron is a liability. A very inconsistent player that when hot can shoot like 4 three pointers in a game and score 15 points, yet for every one of these awesome performances we have to endure 2-3 subpar ones. To boot its not like he is a defensive specialist or rebounder that can make up for the erratic offensive performances. Billups as well has been a huge liability, much like Butler very inconsistent offense and to boot he just doesnt have the athleticism to keep up with young guards.

The supporting cast that I am proud of so far is Barnes, and Crawford (although Crawford has been shooting poorly in these two losses). These two guys have been amazing all year round.

Odom, Turiaf, and Hill are essentially doing what we expected of them, which isnt much really.

Now the one guy that I have to say has my vote for being most underrated on this team is Green. I wonder if maybe we would have had a different outcome if green had more minutes

They just had their backs against the wall. but I think the first two games led us to be overconfident. Going into this series we both had the same record, and we won the tie breaker due to head to head competition in the regular season. that being said the 4th and 5th seed matchup is always the most even. Its always a dog fight and usually the most entertaining. Hell look at the 4th and 5ht seeds on the east. The Bulls and nets just spent 3 overtimes trying to win the last game.

Thanks for the kind words and having a brother's back. I really do appreciate it Page. As of last night I'm no longer a mod and I'm totally okay with that. I still love you guys like brothers and would go to war with any of you. Lately I've definitely been more negative and it's because this specific group of players is a damn emotional roller coaster. One game they look like NBA champions, the very next game they look like a lottery team. They lack the consistency and urgency of the other contenders.

That's why I like to call them my Jekyl and Hyde team haha. The previous 13 or 14 years as a fan was much easier for me because it was more predictable. I always knew either we sucked, we were pretty good etc. This team has two opposing sides. As for the moderator job thing you're right. The only thing mods really do is keep the peace, welcome new members and merge/delete threads. When I was a mod I feel I did those things fairly and well. I've banned maybe 4 people in my 2 years or w/e as a mod and 3 of them were non Clippers fans who came here to troll you guys.

Anyways... mod or not I'll always have your backs. I might bash the players when they deserve a good ass kickin but I won't personally attack you guys ever.

Why I think we lost both games, was our 3 point shooting was just terrible, 3s are moemntum shots IMO and a few made would excite the guys to hustle back and play some d and get some boards.
