A few notes going into next season...

  1. Vinnie must go. He's proven he's not a coach who can get a team to the next level. How he continued to start Chauncey Billups despite the fact that it was obvious Billups was done, proved that he doesn't have the guts to do whatever it takes to win. He ain't the guy.

  2. Paul and Griffin remain the cornerstones of this team going forward.

  3. Matt Barnes should be retained. He's a bargain.

  4. DJ sucks. He must go and he must go now. I'm sure most teams in the league realize he's grossly overpaid, but we need to move him now while we may still have a few takers based on his potential. He's easily the dumbest defender around. He has no go-to offensive game and can do little more than dunk. And how many games did his foul shooting cost us? Add that to the fact that we couldn't play him in crunch time.

  5. Bledsoe should have been moved for Clay Thompson, if that was indeed offered to us. Now, we still need to move him for a SG or a SF.

  6. Odom is as done as Billups. He's just not much of an asset and at 8-million, he's a liability.

  7. Billups is as done as Lamar Odom.

  8. Green is a nice player to have at the end of your bench.

  9. Crawford's game isn't built for the playoffs. He can go.

  10. Butler is still a viable 8th man, but no more than that.

  11. Turiaf and Hollins are reasonable backups.

  12. Those who were happy with the job our non-GM did this off season need to rethink that. They filled out the roster with names, but not talent. WE NEED A REAL GM... I said that last off-season and it's absolutely true. We need someone who can evaluate young and rising talent and bring in the right pieces, who can make shrewd moves and find people... Our committee last year did nothing but bring in fading name value and that does not win playoff games. Billups, Odom, Crawford, Butler, Hill... None of those guys helped enough to justify their salaries.

do you believe that? cos part of me thinks, when we let go of DJ, he's gonna have a breakout season. Thats if he gets a really really good big man coach.

Yeah, I think Crawford was okay for the money... But we need a real starting SG who can play 32 minutes so Crawford can play 20 - 25... You can't NEED a guy like Crawford.

Our center needs to be able to actually hit a jump shot to free up some space for Blake man. And Crawford has been incredible for us until this series, but I dont blame him as much as I blame Vinny's utilization of his skillsets in the offense. I just feel like the whole series we just ran high pick and pops with Blake who would dish it right back out to someone who was heavily guarded and run another pick and pop with that guy until there was 6 seconds left and then expect an isolation bucket. Its insane to think we could compete with that kind of attack.

I think trading DJ would have been a great move last year. We needed a GM who could see that he was overpaid and who was willing to move him for value when value could be gotten. Now, he's proven to be a liability at 11-million a year... Who would want him? Perhaps a desperate team.

But the biggest fault was one I forgot to mention... DTS for not hiring a proper GM... We had the pieces to be great with the right GM moves... Those moves weren't made...

Of course, 56 wins is nothing to sneeze at, but it is much more a testament to Chris Paul and Blake Griffin than anything else... Who was it that got Chris Paul? I wish DTS had kept that (now Portland) GM and let him finish the job...

I'd rather sign free agent Zaza Pachulia. Hell, I'll even take Kaman back maybe.

Obviously, get DJ the F outta here. Can't stand seeing him play.

Instead of LO, pick up Hickson?

Hickson will stay with Portland... Speights would be a good get. I would love to see Reggie Evans back though.

  1. DJ needs to go

  2. Vinny needs to go

  3. Billups needs to be replaced

  4. We need a RELIABLE 3rd option who is guaranteed 10-15 ppg every night no matter what.

Oh.. Re-sign Matt Barnes and CP3 MUST be done.

We need a big with a post up game. We aren't build for the playoffs. We are too much up tempo and need to establish a half court game when needed. That's playoff basketball. We can't execute consistently from a half court set right now. I know Gasol is getting up there but him playing instead of Dj would've been huge.

I'd switch 1 and 2 in terms of priority, but other than that it's my exact wish list. Oh, and re-sign CP.

Re-sign you-know-who

Re-sign Barnes

Hire SVG

Trade DJ and Bledsoe (add a pick if they want it) for Greg Monroe (I heard they want to shop him since they are high on Drummond

Draft a wing player

Hire Haekeem as the big man coach

Sign Tony Allen

Why don't we trade for the always underrated Jared Dudley. The guy does almost everything well.

We had some big glaring problems with our line up this season- Billups, DJ, and even Caron. I think I was in denial thinking we had a chance. Billups and Caron can't keep up with all the athletic guys in the league and DJ is too dumb to hand with anybody. Bled has a world of talent but hasn't been able to use it. Jamal loves taking hard shots. LO had no offensive game. Both back up centers weren't good at all.

If they keep DJ, I don't know what I'm going to do. Probably become an alcoholic

I would like to apologize to you all for my behavior 2 years ago when I said I'd rather have DJ than Kaman. I was convinced his shot blocking and athleticism would be more beneficial than Kaman's more polished post moves and bulkier defense.

Sorry.

Get reliable 3 point shooters to open up the game for Blake (who will have a jumper by next year), and of course a serviceable center. I can't believe we could have had KG, very disappointing...

  1. Re-sign CP3

  2. Re-sign CP3

  3. Re-sign CP3

then...

  1. Re-sign Barnes*

  2. Re-sign Willie*

  3. Grab a 2-way wing player*

  4. Package Bled and DJ for a quality center

*Do all this AFTER you're set cap-wise.

Maalik Wayns... you're on deck as our new Bled. Get it done, son.

We definately need a mean/aggresive big man that can hit free throws along with an athletic starting two guard if we are going to continue bringing Crawford (which VDN didnt play in the entire 4th quarter in game 6, but instead played G. Hill which he hardly played this year) off the bench as our 6 man. I say go after Al Jefferson and a Monte Ellis, as we get rid of VDN, move DJ, LO, Billups, G. Hill.

I feel like in the state of flux that Phoenix is in, Gortat could be got. Would love to have him. Maybe absorb a player they don't want like Beasley.

RESIGN CP3 then do the following:

  1. Hire Jeff Van Gundy (defensive minded coach. Don't need an offensive genius when CP has the ball 90% of the time).

  2. Trade DJ and Bledsoe to Orlando for Afflalo and Vucevic.

  3. Trade Butler to Wizards for Ariza (should have happened before trade deadline).

  4. Resign Barnes, Hollins, and Willie Green.

  5. Let Billups, Odom, Turiaf walk.

  6. Sign Shaun Livingston to back up CP.

  7. Sign JJ Redick or Kyle Korver (3 point specialists).

  8. Sign Anthony Morrow (shooter)

  9. Sign JJ Hickson (if DTS wants to go over luxury tax).

  10. Draft best available player.

This will a team of athletic, versatile players that can shoot and defend.

understand the exasperation/deflation, and.... lots to be happy about from this year.... huge bump inseason despite getting bumped off first up in the playoffs....

props to all the posters here who predicted 60 wins.... we got closer than some of us thought possible, and if I'm not mistaken, we were actually on pace a time or two for just that.... a sixty win season.... amazing !!

and never been a Vinny fan, and.... hope his time here is but a stepping stone for his next, and third time is the charm, HC position, as agreed.... think there is someone who is a better fit for this team/CP3....

and congrats to Donald for back 2 back playoff seasons, and here's to hoping for a third, and.... props for it not all falling in the drink by hiring Sacks and sticking w/Vinny.... we've seen worse (Larry Brown)....
