DON'T KNOW IF THIS HAS BEEN POSTED, if so delete. They didn't expect to be out of the playoffs just two weeks after they started. Chris Paul didn't have any plans on his calendar until after June. He doesn't know how he's going to spend the rest of his summer now. He's still trying to process how to explain to his son, Little Chris, that the season is over. But that's the harsh reality after another early playoff exit. Despite setting a franchise record for wins (56) and securing their first Pacific Division championship, among various other season accolades, the Clippers couldn't manage....

Yup- K-Mart was pretty much the main reason why we won Game 7 last year, and of course was a key player the entire series. And Reggie just always seemed to make positive plays.

But- the main reason K-Mart was let go was because of his bad attitude. As for Reggie- that just was not smart letting him go. It wasn't as if he was going to get a lot of $- his new contract seemed very reasonable.

Didn't K-Mart have beef with VDN? I think the bad attitude claims are over-exaggerated.

Vinnys lack of a system cost Kmart and Evans to not return. He didn't appreciate what they brought defensively. He wanted ISO players cuz he can't run an offense that he forgot about defense

If we still had Reggie Evans and K-Mart I guarantee we would win the series with the Griz. Our bigs were abused badly and exposed as soft.

Reggie Evans does a helluva job guarding Zach Randolph, and K-Mart can still play........but it was a real killer having 2 other guys on the team that shoot FT's like DJ.......especially when at least 1 if not 2 of the 3 were counted on to play crunch time minutes.

In the postseason DJ has shot 30% from the line. K-Mart is a career 60+% Ft shooter and Reggie Evans can shoot at around 50% now. Turiaf is even worse at Fts and his defense is nowhere near as good. Hollins cant even play defense without fouling someone.

K-Mart shot 37% from the line last year and a whopping 43% this year.

Yup, main reason why Z-Bo was nonexistent in last year's series. Always loved his toughness and energy.

I don't think we wanted a multi year contract 1.6 mil for 3 yrs. BTW He scored 22 pts, 26 rebounds one game. Boy did we screw the pooch

What I heard was that Kmart refused to go in when his number was called. That's unheard of. Maybe that's why he was jobless for a while. Nobody ever said what the beef was.

Dallas picked up Brand for $2.1 mill. He'll be 35 next season. If he's not too old you've got tough and a shooter. He doesn't have to play big minutes and he can start if needed. Probably can get for $3Mill. There's your answer.

Pau Gasol?

You're advocating getting a guy nicknamed "Gasoft" on a thread about us needing to get tougher?

There are a lot better ways to spend $19,000,000... if we even had it to spend.

We need to be tougher it we need better players too. It's pretty clear watching these second round teams that this group, while love able, lacked consistency. Toughness was huge, but we need a consistent third option.

We probably could of had Evans/K-Mart combined for half the price of Odom.

KMart refused to go back into a playoff game against the spurs, and he was the brains behind the dressing in black for the "boston funeral".

There is a reason no one picked him up until the last possible second.

Might be right. Just gotta hope for a buyout then. No contender is gonna trade for him for that amount of money, and he won't waive the no-trade clause unless it's a contender.

But its a team option so we can part ways. I don't see any reason to let him go since he makes no money and he was an excellent value.

I had heard some things that they might release and re-sign him to the minimum in order to save 500K on the salary cap.

I would like to sign Brand and Kaman for our back up bigs.Doubt we could but Brand can still defend and Kaman can still shoot which would work in crunch time since DJ can't make free throws.I know Brand left the Clippers on bad terms but that was back in the day when we were cheap and weren't able to put a good team around our core.

I always loved the 06 team and would be amazed if some how we got back our bigs.Money wise we might not be able too but getting one of these guys back would be a big improvement over our current bigs.Could you image a bench with Bledsoe,Crawford,Barnes,Brand, and Kaman.Even if we go over the cap we will only be first time offenders so we won't pay a lot and would have a chance at the title.

^^Brand and Kaman would be nice, but I'm not sure if we'll have the $. If they're both willing to take just like $3 mil each, it might be possible? But I'm pretty sure they could get higher elsewhere. Durability-wise, I don't think they would hold up the entire season. But if they don't play heavy minutes which would be the case if they are on the Clippers, maybe they will play most of the season.

Gasol only if amnestied. Not $19 mill. He has played tough when motivated.

Turiaf is actually the best pick and roll defender this team has had in years

Kenyon thought he should have been getting minutes over Blake and DJ we don't need that crap in our locker room

It tends to be forgotten that fouling....

If we can some how make it work, I'd love to bring back Kaman and Brand. I noticed EB's been more of a dirty player since his torn Achilles' tendon. Him and Blake would make a great tandem if we decide to go small.

Kaman and Brand? LoL! How bout dump Odom's contract, some future draft picks, and DJ........and make a bold move, like LaMarcus Aldridge. He'll destroy Kaman and pretty much everyone else that plays the 4 or 5 around the league

Kaman and Brand? Leave the past in the past.

I like the idea of trading for Gortat (and ditching DJ). He's a guy who understands defense and would be a great fit if SvG signs as coach. Also, sign Tony Allen as our starting 2 guard to beef up our perimeter defense.

Just these two things alone would change the complexion of our team dramatically.

Then for the three, just resign and start Barnes over Caron.

Lets focus on defense this year. With a roster like this and Stan coaching we ought to be decent defensively at least,

CP3

Tony Allen

Matt Barnes

Blake Griffin

Gortat

I said it last summer when they traded Reggie that he was the 1 guy off the bench that we should have re-signed. He gobbles up rebounds by actually boxing out, he plays tough and he can get steals. Also if anyone watched any games when he played, he was a monster at getting rebounds off of our guys missing their free throw shots. That is priceless to have and can never be replaced.

There's no need for Kaman on this team, but Brand alone wouldn't be a bad idea as a backup big depending on the price. Re-signing Odom isn't a problem because there's no way he's getting more than the minimum, and if anyone wants to pay him more, well they can enjoy.

Asik is a bit better defensively than Gortat. Certainly than what Gortat showed this season and last.

I wouldn't mind bringing Kaman back, we could probably get him for cheap too considering he didn't play that well last season. I know the CaveMan's heart is still in LA, you could tell he was really butthurt when he was traded. He is a good post defender and he can spread the floor a bit and make it easier for Blake, if he comes for the right price I'm all for it.

Sidenote: Asik>Gortat

How are we going to get Asik?

As far as Brand he's perfect. This is not nostalgia. He's strong and has a huge wingspan. He's as tough as nails. If he hadn't gotten hurt he'g be near as good as BG. He has a great mid range shot and is 70% plus from the line. $3 mill is a steal. They play a similar style so he'll fit in our system. If BG gets hurt he can still start.

He's perfect

If we want to get tougher we must follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Trade DJ + Bled for either Verajao, Vucevic, Chandler, or Gortat with fillers

Step 2: Send Blake to Hakeem's house

Step 3: Hire a better defensive assistant coach if we don't get one of the Van Gundy Bros or Sloan

Step 4: Murder Joey Crawford

Step 5: Hide the body and get rid of any evidence that can trace it back to Clipper Nation
