It's a stretch. The stars would have to aligned and unlike the Heat, not sure if CP3's and Dwight's friendship is as tight as Lebron's and Wade's.

after all the sh*t i've talked about him to the laker fans... lol no thanks plus it would never happen. dwight already made a huge mistake by handling the whole magic situation in the worst possible way so i highly doubt he will repeat the same by betraying the lakers

You never know with Dwight, he's very flaky....Wouldn't surprise me if he left the Lakers. His happiness is more important than his image it seems.

How would we get Howard? I think the only way he does not stay with Lakers is via a sign and trade so he can get max. With his injuries, I think Howard is going to want as much security as possible. So who would we trade to get Howard in that scenario? Griffin?

Apparently, you can if it's about getting Dwight Howard. This must be the 10th time some newbie has posted this sh!t.

Per the new cba dwight would get the same amount in a sign and trade as he would just signing

The point of a sign and trade would be to relieve cap room for a team to be available to get Dwight

I personally would welcome dwight in a trade for deandre, bledsoe and caron

I'm not sure the Lakers would go for that because they can probably get Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson in return for Howard on a sign and trade.

True, but the Lakers would get more cap relief from the Clipper deal, versus taking on Joe Johnson's and Lopez's deals that last till 2015-16.

Being an LA homer and fan of both teams, I sort of want them to distribute the talent a bit and keep D-12 in a Lakers uniform and CP3 in a Clippers uniform. That said, I'm pretty sure Mitch Kupchak will move Howard to an Eastern Conference team if he was forced to trade him. There's also a rumor that the Lakers will amnesty Kobe and then sign CP3 next year. I also don't think that will happen and I know the Clippers will never sign and trade CP3 over to the Lakers.

^ Even if the lakers amnesty kobe, they're still at $48million committed... and that's without Dwight's cap hold. They'd have to let Dwight walk before even making an offer. You think he'd want to go there to play with Pau, Nash and Artest?

Sounds like that rumor was started by an over-zealous laker fan.

Lakers can't trade him when he's a FA. The Lakers can't sign and trade Howard since they're in the luxury tax threshold.

The one thing I am not certain about is that their might be a way to sign and trade him but it won't be for contract he would get from the Lakers, it would be for the max any team can get him in FA. If that is the case, why would Howard allow himself to be traded to a team he might not want to play for?

he could just pick a team and get the same money.

AND, by renouncing Howard in order to get CP3, Howard loses his bird rights. Howard don't play that...

Even if Dwight was willing, it still couldn't happen because with CP3, they'd be way over the cap, and therefore unable to sign "free-agent" Howard, right?

Be funny to pick up a pissed-off kobe off of the amnesty wire and have the lakers pick up, say, $25mil of his salary if they dared try something like that, though.

Because the team he wants to go to may need to clear cap space in order to take on his contract without going into the luxury tax... thats what i meant in my post above about relieving cap room

You're right. I was assuming you meant that they would try to nab CP3 and still sign Howard afterwards since they retain his bird rights. I was just thinking ahead if Slestack were to throw out this scenario. They'd have to renounce Howard in order to lift the hold and then sign him with whatever money is left.

Which would be nothing... so the "rumor" slestack mentioned is basically some 12-year old's fantasy. I'm surprised LeBron coming to the lakers for vet-min and Pop leaving the Spurs wasn't included in the scenario.

Howard would be an upgrade from DJ. Whether people like Howard or not they cant say Howard wouldnt make this team better. The question is what area would make a bigger impact strengthening up the front court or strengthening up our perimeter? I say the perimeter. Even adding Howard wouldnt help match the shooting of teams like OKC, GSW, and San Antonio. I am going to be honest I dont think the center position is as importnat these days as a strong solid backcourt. As long as we have a defensive minded guy like a Perkins at a decent low cost the money should go to getting guys like Reddick, Korver, or others that can shoot and spcae the floor. Blake can work the inside, and Chris Pauls staple of offense are either layups and shots inside the paint, so Howard shouldnt even be a target. If anything we should be looking to rid ourselves of DJs contract to free space for the shooters we need.

They have a lot better chance to get Bron next season than they do to get CP3 this season. It's literally impossible for them to sign a max FA this summer. I thought there was one tiny window that they could do an S&T if the Clips were willing to facilitate (which would never happen)...But I read that in the new CBA, teams that are over the tax by as much as they are, are not even allowed to do an S&T even if the dollars work.

It's literally impossible for them to get CP3, Josh Smith, anybody worht a ****. They have a mini midlevel and they can make normal trades. That's it.

Has anybody ever heard of "Huffing"? You take a plastic bag and fill it full of spray paint. Then you put it over your nose and mouth and inhale deeply.

1 You get high but for a short period of time

2 When you're done you look ridiculous because you have paint on your face

3 It causes brain damage.

Think of it as "Howarding" instead of Huffing

First, What's with a sign and trade? D12 is a FA and he can go anywhere he chooses. (Houston) Second he may have issues with his back. Third he's a baby. Have you noticed how much better his back got when Kobe got hurt? If DJ got his doo doo together and played to his alleged potential I would rather have him. $10 mill vs the cost of my balls.

I would rather have Tyson Chandler, Brooke Lopez, Al Jefferson, Maybe even Pau. Marc Gasol. Bynum if he weren't injury prone and a head case.

Bron is going to Cleveland. They have cap space and he'll attract free agents like limburger cheese attracts flies. Within 2 years, ECF.

Why would he go to LAL? Like CPC3 he could have "His Team" in

his home town

BTW -- prodigal son returns. Advertizing dollars.

Odds I'd give 1/5 he'll be a LAL. 60/40 he'll be a Cav

i agree. as much as id love for him to end up in a clips uniform, its not going to happen. i think he goes back to cleveland. if you look at their roster, they got talent. irving, varejao, waiters, thompson, zeller and a s*** load of draft picks. the flakers have to amnesty gasol, and have kobe retire in order to be able to make a run at lebron, and i doubt either happens.

Advertising dollars and Cleveland should not be used in the same sentence. Lebron on the Lakers equals legendary. Lakers have a fraternity of greatness at the center position in Mikan, Wilt, Jabbar, Shaq, and D-12 in the wings. They also have that same fraternity of greatness at the guard position in West, Goodrich, Magic, Kobe, and eventually Lebron. Magic had wondered why there are no Lebron commercials and it's all CP3 and Blake Griffin commercials...well, once Lebron gets to LA, he will be in every other commercial played during a sporting event. Lebron and D12 can team up to dominate the league and the vets chasing rings will fill out the roster like they do in Miami right now.

Let me ask you this? Where do you find the money to sign D. Howard? Unless Dwight willing to take so much less money and don't mind being coach with Stan Van Gundy again. haha I salivate of having Paul, Griffin, and Howard on the same team.

They only have Dwight and Nash on the books after next season. That's more than enough space to sign him outright. I think he goes back to Cleveland and help bring a title back to his home-town.

I say we go for it...theoretically we have 45 million commited in contracts right now....if we get agreement that dwight howard and chris paul would sign on a pay cut if we freed up cap and then I wouldnt mind the clippers trading deandre jordan and butler to free up cap. We resign billups and odom (we have there bird rights)...use half of our mid level exception on matt barnes and the use the other half on stephen jackson. Resign hollins and turiaf on minimum contracts. We get bet and keep our depth.

Cp3/bledsoe

Billups/crawford

Jackson/barnes

Griffin/odom

Howard/hollins/turiaf

Very true, i was listening to ESPN710 last night, and Max and MArcellus had a guest on who was an expert on the new CBA, and you're absolutely right. Anytime max offered a suggestion the expert shot it down because of one factor or another. Then Max says in a deafeated voice "so the Lakers are screwed?" The guests says "yup"

Why would anyone consider Dwight Howard? He's garbage. He'll never win unless he gets a late in the career Bill Walton on the Celtics ring. His skills are diminishing little by little every year, and he's really just a glorified DJ. 2-3 years from now he'll be worthless.

Why not deal for someone legit with game like LaMarcus Aldridge? Aldridge will still be a beast in 5 years, and realistically he'll probably still be good for another 8-10. Plus, you can pull a Tim Duncan move and roll him at Center. BG and LA together would be overwhelming for NBA front lines. His contract may be high, but it's only 3 mil or so more than DJ's.

Why is this even a thread? We already have 2 top 10 players (My Opinion) we dont need to pay max money for a top 20 player. I'd rather try our luck with Nerlens Noel and he won't cost an arm and a leg to get him.
