what about when lakers had malone and shaq

How'd that end up working out? That's the perfect example, Malone was coming off a 20ppg 8reb 7ast season and he joined with Shaq who dominates the paint and Karl Malone that year was reduced to 13ppg.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of.

whoever says that DH is slightly an upgrade over dj is crazy. When has dj ever had a 40+ game? or a 20+ rebound game? when has dj ever been a Defensive player of the year? or a consistent allstar? this guy is way above dj, not even close.

We could see three Clippers starting the All-Star game next year if this happens. Not sure if it's best for the team though.

yeah I forgot about that game lol but 1 game is nothing. DH has done it consistently until last year . I just don't understand why some people act like DJ isn't far off from him haha some clipper fans overvalue our players way too much

well of course stats go down because distribution in points are spread throughout the team and not between two players..would it matter if his stats drop if we are winning. The more talent we have the less likely teams defense can key in on one player . Blake said himself he doesn't mind sacrificing his numbers if we are winning so why not..its not we have a bunch of ball hogs on our team for the most part out team is pretty unselfish which would be go for a player like dwight

If the Clippers are going to invest that much money on a third superstar than it should be Lebron James... Howard would be an upgrade from DJ but not that much of an upgrade.

The only difference between DJ and Howard is that Howard is a better rebounder (Which allows Howard to capitalize on second chance points thus having a better average than DJ) and a defensive presence.

Can DJ become a better rebounder and defensive presence? Absolutely but the Clippers must invest on a personal coach for DJ and get a defensive minded coach (Jerry Sloan, Stan Van Gundy, Nate McMillan) to utilize DJ better than VDN.

If the Clippers pursue a better center or decide to trade DJ than my vote would be for Cousins... This kid is a beast, in need of some veteran leadership and guidance, but a definite beast.

Mmmm....this is very wrong, you are aware of that, right?
How?
Dwight when healthy is a Top 5-7 player in the league in terrmd of impact. DeAndre Jordan isn't better defense and a little more rebounding away from being a top 3-5 impact player in the league.

1) You can build an entire defensive system around Dwight's abilities

2) Contrary to the common criticism, Dwight can score in the post, he just doesn't look pretty doing it.

3) Dwight draws attention and opens up the floor for shooters, Jordan does not

That basically covered Dwight being a vastly superior individual scorer, Dwight being a much greater impact defensive player, Dwight being a much greater impact offensive player outside of his individual scoring.

So yea, if DJ became a minimum 18/11 go to post option who could anchor a defense at a high level, but below DPOY level, and draw a lot of defensive attention which opens the floor for his teammates, then yea, the only difference would be Dwight being better than an 11 RPG guy as a starter, and being a higher level defensive presence.

Right now there's a great gulf between their impact on the basketball court.

Call me when DJ can average the equivalent of 27 pts, 15.5 rebs, .667 TS% with a 113 Ortg in a 6 game series playing 43 MPG. 5.5 tov/game or not, still very good offensive rating. Also helped anchor the Magic in holding their opponent to a 100.3 Ortg.

Based on your assertion that the only difference is 2nd chance points, rebounding and defense, DJ should at least be able to do 19-20 pts / 13 Rebs / .600 TS% in 43 MPG in a playoff series and help hold opponents to better than the atrocious >113 pts/100 that both SA last year and Memphis this year dropped on the Clippers.

DJ's contract makes things tough. I was hoping by now that he would have improved enough to have been able to earn the contract that he signed. If DJ is kept around, I think the Clippers really need to go hire Bill Laimbeer or Patrick Ewing to work with him constantly.

It's funny, but I remember being concerned when we traded away Kaman and went with DJ. It's a moot point but considering Kaman has not had heavy injuries the last couple of years (wish that would have een the case when he was a Clipper) would we have been a better team the last couple of years if he was our center? I was just thinking about it.

I definitely agree with you on that one. DJ is great and is my favorite Clipper at the moment but he really hasn't shown me the improvement I expected out of him, hopefully he makes huge strides in his defensive and offensive game this off season. As far as D12 to Clippers, I'd absolutely hate that and would love for Gary Sacks to slap whoever suggests it

I talked to a LAL fan and he's been smoking crack

! LAL doesn't want Howard, CP3 and D12 will sign with Dallas to play with Dirk because Cuban will spend$$$. Sterling is cheap (even when I mentioned he was willing to go over the cap he still didn't relent. Even though Pau's contract is $20 miil they won't amnesty him but amnesty Metta because they can feature Pau next year. In one year after Metta, Kobe and Pau are gone the LAL will be back

F*ck me running. It would be easier to do that than for any of the above to happen.

Meanwhile back in the jungle

D12 and CP3 are free agents and can sign with whom ever they choose. Sign and trade won't happen even if it were doable.

DJ is garbage. With D12 we would have beaten Memphis. BG and D12 can coexist if BG's jumper is close to 40%, his FT shooting is 75% and his ball handling improves. BG has had triple doubles. Imagine a pick and roll with BG and D12. BG taking his man or passing to CP3 or D12 or Willie in the wing.

CP3 is going nowhere. His State Farm Commercials easily make up for any loss he will take. He couldn't do it anywhere else and his Comm'ls are a HUGE hit. If he went to LAL the general public would consider him a scum bucket.

Where else would D12 want to go? Remember he didn't want to go to LAL and now they suck more. The only alternative is Houston. Hardan is better than any of our SG's but CP3> Lin. BG > whoever.

$18 mill. $20 mill. The $2 mill is chump change. When you figure D12's endorsements and with Lob City they will be there, it's financial wash for any $$ he loses in salary. D12 is a good looking articulate guy. He can conjugate a verb and every other word isn't MAN. Chick appeal. In a previous post I mentioned how I showed a female friend the clip of BG jumping over the Kia? All she could think of was that he was handsome and wished she could introduce him to her daughter $$$$ D12 $$$

I bet if I showed her a clip of D12 she'd have $exual Fanta$ie$ a$ well

Unfortunately 5 yrs ago we would have traded DJ for EJ. Lopez and who ever and taken a loss. Then signed D12. Then unload Lopez. Pick up Pierce? Maybe? LAL had a $100 mill payroll but won a ring.

Lob city is back with D12 and BG. That means $$$ and endorsements.

CP3/ Wayans

EJ, Jamal

Pierce, Matt

BG, Brand

D12??? Kaman/or Lopez

5 years ago we could have pulled the trigger and we would have made BANK

Bledsoe and Willie should start somewhere else. They go. Hill and Billups go. They will embarrass themselves. Hill played in how many games? Willie was better than Chauncey

We will have to eat it for 2-3 yrs but it will be the best team in the league

Dropping my crack pipe.

Start Willie. Try to dump Caron.. Get rid of Billups and Hill (I cry bitter tears but Darwin's Rules)

If we're willing to eat it

D12/???

BG/Brand

Pierce or Butler/ Matt

Willie/Jamal

CP3 Malik

Sloane or VDN (Sorry)CB assistant coach. Would like Gentry.

Betting Howard ends up in Texas for one of those teams not named The Spurs.

The more I think of it we are a viable option, a real viable option if we can dump the Texas Turd. Why would he go to the Rockets if he can come here? I always considered Houston his number one alternative but why? He once said that he wished LAL had the comraderie that we do. ENDORSEMENTS Lob City will do that. Remember BG sells out visitors' arenas. Imagine D12 AND BG

Lawler said BG is a Gym Rat. That means a much better game this fall. If BG can become a Streach 4 "Oh Me Oh My"

With BG as above we can beat anyone. Now D12 can guard Gasol. He can also run (I hope) The more I think of it this is a No Brainer

DTS GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Repped High Quality Post

Daryl Morey's master plan may be coming together after all.

According to a CBS report, free agent center Dwight Howard is no lock to re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers and is most intrigued by playing in Houston, where All-Star guard James Harden led the league's youngest team to the playoffs, where it was eliminated in six games by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

"With six weeks to go before Howard becomes an unrestricted free agent, the team that is said to intrigue him the most is the Houston Rockets, according to multiple people briefed on internal conversations surrounding Howard's free-agent decision," CBS reported. "The Rockets have a young star, James Harden, who has proved himself worthy of playing the leading role for the franchise; a budding 3-point shooting threat in Chandler Parsons; a defensive-minded coach in Kevin McHale; and Omer Asik, the kind of 7-footer Howard is believed to want next to him in the frontcourt."

If this is true, it gets the Rockets' roster as close to a championship contender as they have been in Morey's six seasons as general manager. The Rockets aggressively pursued a trade for Howard last season, but at the time had a bit of a motley crew for a roster, one that didn't include Harden (or, for that matter, Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin).

With Lin, Harden and professional pest Patrick Beverly, Houston is strong in the backcourt. With Asik, it has one of the league's best interior defenders and in Chandler Parsons it has a versatile small forward who is grossly underpaid. The Rockets' biggest weakness in 2012-13, when they were the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference playoffs, was a lack of reliable scoring on the block.

Howard, of course, would help tremendously.

Houston needs to clear some cap space, but that won't be a problem. The biggest question is, "Does Howard want to play in Houston?" and it sounds like the answer is, "He might."

Kinda sucks yet feels like a relief at the same time.

FROM CBS (which includes Ramona's tweet): You may be wondering why we would waste the digital space on telling you that Dwight Howard won't be hooking up with a certain team. We'll get to that in a second. First off, ESPN reports that Dwight Howard may end up in L.A., but not with the red, white and blue: You can cross Clippers off list of Dwight suitors, btw. Not happening for multiple reasons, according to sources Ramona Shelburne (@ramonashelburne) May 20, 2013 So there that is. Howard will not be hooking up with Chris Paul with the other L.A. team. This is not surprising....

Gary Sacks is our GM bro. His title is VP of basketball operations, but the job is essentially GM. You know this
