Wow I wasn't expecting that.I really thought Sterling would give him another go.I wanted VDN gone but not for any coach, now I hope we make the right decision and pick an experienced coach who can get the most out of our young players and get us at least to the conference finale next year.I think VDN will coach the Suns next year.Hope everything works our for him.He is a young coach with potential but wasn't right for us at the moment.

Good news if true. I don't believe Sterling is firing VDN for another coach of the same level. He'll get a real coach this time. I have faith in him (at least right now).

I was yelling the loudest after a time-out or when the players looked lost on o and d. But now, I feel sorry for VDN and hope the best for him.

And we all know this, but he clarified anyways:

@WojYahooNBA: I should clarify: Del Negro wasn't fired as coach. He was informed that he won't be offered a new contract to return. His deal has expired.

I saw the notification on my phone via Bleacher Report just a few minutes ago; I'm actually kinda shocked that Sterling actually pulled the trigger on Vinny. It had to be that Eric Miller and Gary Sacks finally convinced the Donald that it was time not to bring Vinny back.

The next coaching hire HAS TO BE a big name, or else what's the point of firing Vinny?

WOW! Sterling deserves MAD props for making a very very difficult decision. I will badmouth you no longer great Tokowitz. Great step forward for the franchise BUT we do need to respect Vinny's time here and thank him. I liked him A LOT as a person and representative of the franchise but as a coach he wasn't a fit anymore.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow ... 5929.story

"Former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Byron Scott, Golden State Warriors assistant coach Mike Malone and San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Mike Budenholzer are the top candidates, one executive said.

Former Phoenix Suns coach Alvin Gentry and Indiana Pacers assistant coach Brian Shaw are being considered as well, another executive said.

ESPN analyst Jeff Van Gundy also is said to be a candidate.

Atlanta Coach Larry Drew, whose job status with the Hawks remains uncertain, is interested in the Clippers' job, several executives said."

Glad to see JVG is a top candidate. Larry Drew wants this job but no way should we give him it.

Just checked on twitter and it says vinny told the times that he is no longer with the clippers.

Long time lurker and long time clippers fan and this is the only time i felt it was necessary for me to post something on here.

Definitely happy that he left. Okay coach, but not good enough to get us to the next level.

Names I'm hearing: Byron Scott, Alvin Gentry, Mike Malone, Stan Van Gundy, Mike Budenholzer. I'm sure list is bigger.

-Dan Woike (Clippers writer)

So this means both Van Gundy's in the fold. Awesome. Unfortunately not hearing a single word about Jerry Sloan ;(.

Mike Budenholzer sounds interesting because he's a guy who's been in the Spurs system, and we know how well that team runs. Plus, eventually the Clippers will likely face the Spurs in the playoffs and having a guy who was part of that team's staff gives the Clippers an added edge they need vs the Spurs.

Couldn't of said it better myself. Definitely got some love for Vinny, actually believe he was an ok fit before CP3. With raised expectations I believe the pressure was too much. To keep CP3 happy, keep your veterans happy, to continue winning, to continue to let younger players grow, and establish an offense. Some had to give eventually.

I'm still hoping for Jerry Sloan. If SVG is really out of the running I believe us and BKN are going to be in a heated race for him.

Best of luck to you Vinny, except when playing us.

Interested to see why they let him go. For all we know, it could have been just because he wouldn't agree to another short deal like DTS reportedly wanted a week or so ago, I guess we'll be able to figure that out based on who the new hire is.

Ken Berger who's a Woj level source and almost always right... just tweeted that the biggest cause of this firing is that CP3 wasn't a fan of Vinny. CP3 doing some serious good for our franchise, now just sign the contract man.

the hate for VDN was ridiculously overblown and people were hating on the guy just to hate on the guy. he wasnt THAT bad of a coach. that being said, the team needed a change.

i also dont like how CP is taking complete control of this franchise. no player can EVER be bigger than the team. that doesnt fly with me.

Lol! Yeah the youtube tag is kind of tricky- basically it would only work if the link has "watch?v=" in it. So I took the video identifier (in this case it was GfPg5LjGYz8) and prefixed the youtube watch?v= in front of it and it worked.

Ken Berger ‏@KBergCBS 5m Among the biggest reasons the Clippers let Vinny Del Negro go today, sources say: Chris Paul was not a fan.

If CP3 hires one of his buddy coaches just due to familiarity... I'll be PISSED off. Like you said.. not a fan of a player running a franchise like that. Blake should get EQUAL authority on the matter BUT it should come down to the much more educated front office without bias.

Quoting what 86 posted from a source:

"The decision to part ways with Del Negro was "organizational," with players and front-office on same page."

Ultimately it was Donald Sterling's decision, and I applaud him for it. There was starting to be a little bit of doubt, but he came through.
