If CP3 hires one of his buddy coaches just due to familiarity... I'll be PISSED off. Like you said.. not a fan of a player running a franchise like that. Blake should get EQUAL authority on the matter BUT it should come down to the much more educated front office without bias.

I agree with you there. His decision making isn't bad(makes some good ones and makes some bad ones) but he is way too biased and I don't like his lovefest with Billups. I hope we don't get Byron Scott. Not a bad coach but not a huge upgrade.

Maybe I missed it, but where did it say in the "it was an organizational decision" that Paul had complete control of the franchise.

I must say Vinny did a great job for his caliber. Remember he did lead us to the best winning season of Clipper History. Also one of the 3 undefeated month and 17 games winning streak. This guy have a very bright future. Great job Vinny.

Ekker in this particular instance CP3 shouldn't be attacked. If he WAS indeed the driving force it was still a group decision and if anything we should be thanking his desire to win no matter WHAT the cost is, even pushing a mediocre coach out the door that the owner loves. He will force Sterling to stay active. I'm honestly warming up to Byron Scott. Sure offense wise and resume wise he's not any better than Vinny but defensively, attitude wise he's 10 times better. He's been known to make players giving halfassed effort run extra MILES in practice. He's known to get in players faces. My kind of guy.

If/when we're in a bad stretch next season, should we expect the VDN supporters to say "And you guys wanted Vinny out LOL" or something of that nature?

Thanks Vinny. You did a lot of good but good coaches in the league have an expiration date so the clippers did what needed to be done.

Some things that Vinny did.

Division title.

Best regular season

First game 7 victory

Second round in the playoff

Not going to happen, bro. DJ is who he is. Its not like he's a rookie or second year player anymore. Next year will be his sixth year. If he hasn't improved significantly by now, its not going to happen - even under a different coach. A new coach isn't going to make him a better free throw shooter, or give him better hands or better defensive instincts. Plus, we don't really have time to wait for him to figure it out, assuming he ever can. We need someone who's capable of contributing more, on both sides of the ball, immediately and more consistently.

Why is this thread saying we fired him? We simply didn't rehire him or resign up to a new contract... change it admins..

Best to luck to vinny I was supporting him up until this post season, really opened my eyes we need a better coach. would love to have him as a GM or somewhere in the front office tho

Both mikes, both gundys, and Sloan would be my only candidates. I feel like a lot of coaches were waiting for this spot to open.

Vinny won't be jobless for long. He'll be going to a young team that has pieces in place and ready to compete next year. Like the wizards, suns, bobcats, etc.

If I recalled, it took tyson Chandler quite a while to establish the player he is. I say give him one more year then I would agree with you.

To repeat, sources have indicated it'd be "too creepy" for Clips to hire Phil Jackson, even tho there is a lot of respect for him

If Vinny got canned because DJ bitched,,,then boo.

You mean rookie Kyrie and part of 2nd year Kyrie? Who else? The Cavs roster compared to ours is pathetic. In New Orleans Byron won coach of the year, led his team 1 game from the WCF AND he's a defensive minded, hardass.

Maybe we should thank DJ too. He was also one of the big instrumental in getting Vinny fired. You know not developing well and all.

How can we fire him when he wasn't under contract next year? All in all, solid move. Bobcats or Hornets should hire him, he's a good talent developer.

And he wants his entourage to have full access to the games, free parking to all facilities, and input to all decisions. Oh, he's going to have a special where he decides where he wants to take his talents. lol

I thought it would be little Chris

I really doubt DTS can be told to do anything after what we ahve seen for over 20 years and I doubt CP3 told DTS to get rid of VDN and DTS said "well sure".

Vinny was a pretty good regular season coach but I think a lot of us here could be pretty good regular season coaches with that lineup. But when the wheels came off in the playoffs,,even though 3 of those 4 wheels fell off because of lousy playing and lousy reffing,,the countdown may have started in DTS's mind.

But yeah,,someone may as well start the Fire XYZ thread because as soon as we lose the first game next year nay here will want the new coach fried. And if we lose less games,,watch out.

He was fired from the Cavs for the same reason any coach is. Team is a lotto team and the coach doesn't get time to rebuild, usually fired after 2-3 years. Cavs had major injury issues and a bad squad... so not sure what was expected. Again I DO think we should swing for the fences but with Byron I'll feel OKAY about it. With a Van Gundy or Sloan I'll feel ECSTATIC.
