Ramona just said we have gotten permission to speak to Lionel, and she also said Shaw is the front runner for the job. *Sigh of relief*

http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/stor ... oice-coach

don't know if this has been posted

The Los Angeles Clippers have identified Indiana Pacers assistant Brian Shaw as their No. 1 choice to become the club's next head coach, a source told ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne.

The Clippers previously had contacted Shaw about their vacancy.

In addition to Shaw, the Clippers have also contacted Jeff Van Gundy, Byron Scott and Alvin Gentry to gauge their interest in becoming the team's next head coach, according to league sources with knowledge of the situation.

Shaw also is a serious target for the Brooklyn Nets, NBA coaching sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein and ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard. The Nets are expected to request permission to interview Shaw now that Indiana has been eliminated from the playoffs.

Who knows which one of these assistant coaches is going to turn out to be "the one". Maybe it will be Shaw, no one knows and only time will tell.

true, but my point was that we were trying to steer clear of the assistants, when in fact they seemed to be our best bet (considering the candidates that have backed out or lost interest)

and by best bet i mean theyd come cheap, and with a lot of potential as they all have good things said about them.

Thib's, Frank Vogel, Monty Williams, Mark Jackson, & Scott Brooks are all good coaches and not even 5 years ago were all of these people non-head coaches.

If teams only went after experienced coaches. Who would replace them when they died?

Also 4 out of the last 10 Champions have been coached by someone who's 1st head coaching job was with the team that won.

Looks like Shaw is the guy.

Imagine the ball movement the team will have, even during the last five minutes of the game - finally.

And then we'll get Indy's stingy defense.

And DJ will be developed and become as good as Hibbert.

Sounds like a plan, man.

That last part about DJ made me spit up my drink. But yeah he should be a pretty good coach for us.

Something I don't understand. We have an owner who is willing to pay tax to get the right pieces and two of the most talented men in the NBA. A good city to live in.

Why aren't coaches running to us. Some are but it seems we should be #1 option

If we can Brian Shaw as HC and either Ettore Messina or Kelvin Sampson as AHC that would be amazing.

I'm good with this. Not exactly how I anticipated this hiring to go, but the more I read about B.Shaw the more I want him over all those other guys not named Van Gundy.

Now that I've accepted the fact that Shaw will be hired, they'll bamboozle me and I'll flip some tables when they announce Gentry or Scott.

also we are not a great defensive team. they got a wall at rim, a great wing defender and good defensive pieces. we got a mud wall ok wing defender and a bunch of energy guys along CP. unless shaw turns dj into hakim...

I want brian shaw now. Phil said he's very capable of coaching and to be his successor in the lakers before he retired but Lakers front office did him wrong by getting mike brown. I think it would be big for Brian shaw to be the headcoach of the clips and try to prove the other team that trash him. I strongly think he can bring us to get that championship ring and finally put that clipper championship banner in staples center that way b shaw can get his revenge

Search in youtube (True NBA: The Story of brian shaw)

Thanks for the video AK, hadn't seen that.

Built his professional and personal careers around strong family ties. Him and CP will get along just great.

I had NO idea about that tragedy in his life, holy crap.

I'd feel more comfortable if there were names besides ppl from the Lakers vouching for him. If your coworker was good but not great, as a recommendation, you're not gonna stab them in the back, you'll build them up instead.

I think Shaw is well-respected around the league. I think FA's will want to come to Clips for CP3, BG, and Shaw.

My biggest worry isn't the coach. I think all of the candidates are capable of making something positive happen. I'm sweating Sterling and their kinda, sorta GM...

Meh. If he's so well regarded how come he hasn't been a head coach yet? I'm still skeptical. I know Steven A Smith has been demanding somebody make him a head coach for a long time now. He better be right about this guy's potential if we end up with him.

Shaw is basically the last coach who has some type "good" and potential in him. If the nets snatch him up, this coaching search would be an utter fail.

pause a second for comic relief from @uuords

@uuords: If Shaw passes on the Nets for the Clippers at the last second, is it fair to say they (_) ( _)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■) got Shawshanked? #YEEEAHHHH

Is the FO really searching for a head coach? or just the media keeps telling us they are searching. BTW do we have functional GM or a disabled GM. roll

Jeezus, a report came out last night about the Clippers getting permission to speak to Hollins. There is a lot of speculation that Shaw really wants to coach the Clippers. Easy does it for FFS.

I think the options are starting to dwindle. The more time that goes along I'm beginning to think that whats going to happen is one of our assistant coaches will just get the nod. The interviewing and interest in other coaches may be a way for the front office to save face and ultimately say "well we tried."

I'm starting to feel doubt about this coaching search as well. As i mentioned in my earlier post. I think what is more likely to happen is one of VDNs assistants getting the job.

After all the hype and all the reports about how we're going to look at all the top coaches?

There would be an uprising!
