AND HOLDS EVERYBODY ACCOUNTABLE. Chauncey says EXACTLY what myself and some others have been saying all year long and this summer. We need a hardass coach who commands respect. Billups uses the words "put players to the fire". Basically we need a militant type coach who walks in a room and makes players uneasy (Pop, Thibs, Rivers, Sloan types). Not a coach who is scared of some players and and bows to others.

Like Steve Smith said we need a tough, defensive minded coach.

Sloan is the right coach but a big problem for CP3,Blake and specially to Jordan no respect to the coach.

Oh also great analysis from Greg Anthony who lays out the cold hard truth that we will never truly contend until Blake becomes our best player. He NEEDS to make that leap.

I'm respecting Billups word on this because of his knowledge of the game, but as far as playing, he needs to come off the bench.

But he is right. Starting to sound like a broken record if you ask me. What the players and analysts have been saying is what we have been saying for a long time.

I don't think Chauncey realizes he's asking for a coach to tell Chauncey he can't be a starter anymore, because its the truth. Be careful with what you wish for Big Shot.

Yea it's annoying to hear the obvious because we've been yelling about it for years but at least NBA TV guys know their **** unlike TNT. I agree Billups is a good knowledge guy to talk ball but needs to either retire or come off the bench. BTW I LOVE how when Anthony and Smith were going in on Vinny and our players the ONLY player Billups defended was Griffin haha. He said Griffin is the hardest working player he's ever seen and will figure it out.

Didn't defend anybody else though rightfully so.

Avery Johnson. He's been a champion as a player and led the Mavs (WC) to the Finals. He seems like a no non-sense type of guy.

Chauncey went from "Mr. Big Shot" to a "Suicide Bomber," but he's 100% correct on this. It'll be nice having a coach come in that has no loyalty to players already here.

Chauncey, have respect for the good of team first, like not forcing yourself to start games.

Although, it does pain me when I hear him refer to the Clippers as "they" now instead of "we."

It seems that "fire vinnie now" was common knowledge around the league for a long time. He must have been Really bad for CB to talk that way.

When he said "young players" It was probably Bledsoe who played like he had to piss real bad. Coach's fault. I knew something was wrong when , I think it was CP3, called him by name not "coach" Remember guys like Reggie Miller still at times call former coaches "Coach" The only time I remember this was when Baron called MDSr "Dunleavey"

Our players seem to be high character gentlemen who won't pull a D12 -SVG unless it gets REAL BAD. To coach these guys you have to be stronger and have a higher BBIQ than they do.

Avery Johnson won't work. He's been fired multiple times for being too controlling with out results.

In "The Art of War" a king hired Sun Tzu to disclipline his troops. The king could not maintain order no matter what. SunTzu prominsed he could fix the problem. The King said he would hire SunTzu only if he could get the king's concubines to do close order drill. This was back in the day when they did nothing at all except be pampered. SunTzu accpeted the the challenge but only if could do anything he wanted.

He lined them up single file and beheaded the king's favorite concubine.

There were no disclipline problem after that.

a paraphrase.

Great coaches are always mentioned in the same breath as their stars and are stars. Jackson got almost as much billing as Kobe or MJ

"Demands respect and holds everybody accountable"... sounds ideal.

I'll be very interested to see how our precious "D6" handles that kind of treatment.

"Make some f***** free-throws or you're sitting the 4th" sounds like 'holding him accountable' to me. But that got the last guy fired.

It matters very little who is directing a movie if one of the lead actors isn't very good, is diverting financial resources away from other areas that could make the film better, and he can't even understand the script... that movie will be crap.

Benching Dj didn't get him fired. In fact, people around the league praised the move and criticized Dj. That wasnt what got him fired. Lol

Sorry Chauncey, but I think Del Negro did a good job based on the circumstances. the only wrong move he made was gambling his career on putting you in the starting line up and giving you minutes in the playoffs after you failed to live up to your potential. He couldn't say no to you, so now your blaming him for giving you playing time, when he should have put Willie Green in for the entire series. Crawford and Billups, our shooting guards failed to deliver and Griffin got hurt. Del Negro did the best he could. If he took a hard approach, Chauncey would have hated him and Paul, so he tried to be a player coach and keep his job. Sorry, trying to put blame on the coach for your failure is terrible and show lack of character. Terrible. Good politics, but terrible.

He's already a top 5 PF, he'll need to be the best PF or close, at least offensively, and that will only happen with a very good jumpshot.

Even without those, you add a very good jumpshot which means about 80% FT shooting to his game and that's like a 25 PPG player.

yes but doesn't seem like it though is what im saying,. I just hope he works hard this summer to not sooooii much rely on his dunks. I would be good if he had a dirk or Duncan like jump shot coming to the new season

We just need somebody who's not scared of his players, but in all honesty, you can't be mad at VDN for coddling players like CP3 and Billups when you have to worry about CP3 possibly leaving at the end of the year. Regardless, there's nothing about VDN that COMMANDS respect outside of possibly being a 'good guy' and very few people are truly respected for that. He doesn't have the presence to lead a leader like Paul. I'm sure even if CP3 was locked down long term, VDN would still end up falling in line behind the leadership of Chris Paul.

Somebody like Sloan would command respect because of his longevity, and history of success coaching greats like Karl Malone and Stockton. Something VDN doesn't have.

Somebody like Mike Malone would command respect because of his basketball intellect. He's regarded as a basketball genius by some, Something nobody has ever said about VDN.

I would be happy next season if he:

Shot 70% from the line.

Improved his post game a bit.

Obtained an average jump shot.

Improved his defense a bit.

Try to go back to crashing the boards. His rebounding has regressed.

Thats actually a lot to expect from him but if he improved in 3 of those areas it would help a lot.

I don't expect him to be a go to scorer just yet. He has a long way to go. His jump shot is still pretty poor and he is still easy to stop in the post.

I know he is a hard worker so I am not worried about effort but is he using his time effectively or working on the things he should work on? He needs to work with some big men coaches.

Probably most if not all of those stat lines are a real possibility if he'd just catch the ball and make a decision rather than grab the ball........be indecisive as usual......run 8 seconds off the shot clock doing an And-1 dribbling display.......and then finish it off with a bad telegraphed pass or an even worse shot...

Thats fine! we don't need him any more..... He went from great piece of the puzzle to a square trying to be pushed through a circle hole. Thanks for the time bro, NEXT!

based on what you're saying he doesnt sound like a 3 time all star, 2 time starter. You're describing the needs of a project forward.

He should be a go to scorer. He should be the mothafuckin man and act accordingly. He's what got CP here, he's gotta be the reason CP stays. Coach or no coach Griffins gotta mentally decide that he is the co-owner of this team and that his 5 year extension that he signed is a 5 year promise. A promise to be better than he ever has and to be the best at his position if he expects the best point guard in the league to stay. Chris Paul lives up to his hype. Blake Griffin is acting out his commercials.

To Blake Griffin: You got paid a hundred million dollars man. $100,000,000. That was nice of you to play with a sprained ankle. Now play like you are the best player to ever have sprained his ankle. Play like youre future self came back and told you "you're going to be good, but you need to be better. you're going to be an all star, but you can be THE STAR." We appreciate you, but we expect more.

id have to agree with u. but vdn should have put his foot down. go down in a blaze of glory. hell, we might still be playing had he done that and vdn would have gotten extended.
