Hell yea. Dude was a beast PF/C for Cleveland I'm actually shocked he went to Europe. He's a bruiser and enforcer type. He's great on the boards and has a versatile offensive game. Undersized but plays his ass off.

Link

He's basically a more skilled, younger Ronny Turiaf. He stands 6'9 and weighs 260 so he's about Blake's size. He's a guy like Matt Barnes who's had to fight for a job everywhere he's went. In his only NBA year where he got big minutes before Cleveland drafted Thompson... he put up 15/8/1/1/1 PER 36.

this guy is a big time hustler, I really like his game. He'd be a great pickup for cheap too considering he's only 24.

6'9, yet is a C/PF???

What does he have, an 8 ft wingspan?

I'm at work so I can't view the video.

He reminds me of Chuck Hayes, except with more offensive skills. They both are undersized PF/C.

A more offensive Chuck Hayes without the elite D.

^ Chuck was never an elite defender but he was pretty solid, I remember Blake saying he was tough to go up against.

Meh, he's a 14th or 15th bench player at the very best. There are much better cheap roll players out there then him IMO. http://www.thenbageek.com/players/53-samardo-samuels http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/samuesa01.html

Tense give your opinion once in a while rather than just posting stats. Basketball isn't an equation. I've watched Samardo a lot and while he's not a starter or anything (never claimed he was) he's a nice player, especially for a minimum contract and an upgrade over Turiaf/Hollins. He would be a very nice backup PF for no cost at all.

Ok. He's not very good and I have watched him before. The numbers proof that out.

Like I said, better cheaper options out there.

He's a minimum player, good bargain for that price. A guy who found himself out of the league and in the D League isn't going to be getting more than that, at least no initially.

So you think he's going to return to the NBA and ask for multi millions a year right off the bat?

I'm kinda wanting to hear about 6'11 or 7 foot dudes who can hustle and rebound. It's great hearing about David West and this guy but...

this dude has ryan hollins talent, I'll pass. I don't want to mess around. Like Chris Paul likes to say, it's winning time. It's not DJ development time. It's not project time for some scrub. Let's get known quantities.

the thought behind samuels joining up with the summer league team isnt to potentially sign him and start him (or give him significant minutes for that matter). its just to find some front court depth.

Does 2 meters really don't mean anything to you? Shocked I mean, does it honestly not give you at least a remote idea of how tall that dude is??

From a org position I agree with you, but you didn't notice some in the thread seem pretty high about him? I'm speaking to them.

If he can provide what Craig Smith provided for this team at a lower cost, I have no problem giving him a roster spot if he earns it during summer league.

You need length in the NBA . Samuels can't challenge shots against anyone good at his size. There's a difference between being both effective and versatile......and just being capable of being on the court with NBA players...

I don't think he was suggesting that we replace dj with him rather turiaf. I dont remember this guy, but if he plays in the summer im sure he will be evaluated further. I wouldnt mind a craig smith like player in place of turiaf.

People keep mentioning Ryan Anderson, but Kelly may end up being a pretty comparible player with a much lower price tag

It's not like we are signing him or anything, he is just playing in the Summer League. No need to freak out and think this is the best we can get.

Regardless, it's just a competition on the roster type of thing. Never really hurts.
