I've stated in other posts, that I'd really like to see Lawrence Frank as a lead assistant.

If we get Brian shaw or karl he can definitely help with defense. If we get shaw he could assist since he has had head coaching experience. If we get karl he could concentrate on defense.

I'd also like to see us bringing Ewing and/or Cassell. maybe a Dwayne stephens from Michigan state or Steve Woj... from duke.

Obviously if we bring Joerger from Memphis that would be great too. I think i'd prefer him over frank if we get karl.

Cassell is with Washington right now isn't he? Good guy to have mentoring a young PG

That's cool, I'd prefer to see some good assistant coaches help whoever gets the head coaching job.

Depending on who gets the job, there are definitely some assistants i'd rather see then others.

If we get karl I want to see Joerger since he is credited a lot with Memphis' defense, but if we get shaw I want someone who has some head coaching experience so they could help with any of the acclimate himself with all the nuances of being a head coach.

I can only imagine, but think that to be a great head coach you will have to delegate a lot of the duties to your staff. i'd like to have some faith in the personnel he brings in as well. I don't really want to see gentry, but if you told me gentry was going to come in with the van gundy's, sloan, and shaw as assistants i'd be all for it.

This, we need a defensive assistant coach pretty much no matter what because there aren't that many defensive coaches to choose from.

Give me Joerger or Kelvin Sampson. Also Ettore Messina cod be interesting.

Patrick Ewing, work with DJ on defense

David Joerger, defensive coordinator

Those would be good assistants next to Karl.

Shaw also actually.

My bet is Joerger will be the next Grizzles coach. The FO's knows what they got in him and his price will fit perfectly in their plans.

I don't care if you met Carlesimo or not. I don't think Pop would have him on his bench for 4 years if he was terrible.

Patrick Ewing has signed on to be an assistant with the Charlotte Bobcats, said to be due to the relationship with new head coach.

Whoever we bring on I just hope that is we have a great defensive coach, followed by a great big developmental coach, and a great offensive tactician.

I would like to see Rod Strickland get a shot. He was one of the best PG's of his era and a great basketball mind.. He also had a big hand in developing the likes of tyreke evans, derrick rose, wall and bledsoe as part of john calipari staff....I think he's going to be a great coach one day soon...similar to a mark jackson type

With doc now as our coach the talk is his assistants are likely to be joining him. Tyrone lue was the first name that popped up and report said that Boston assistants are not under contract.

I hope he brings Lawrence Frank I believe they have worked together before unless Memphis doesn't get joerger as a coach. Then either would do, but still prefer Frank since doc and Frank are familiar with each other.

Brian Shaw will probably get hired, if not I'm sure he'll just go back to the Indiana Pacers.

The Lakers could probably hire him in 2014 (?).

Kevin Eastman which is on Doc staff in Boston is a must for me. Dude knows basketball, he holds coaching camps and teaches. He developes players not only physical skills but mentally. I hope he is not under contract in Boston because if your rebuilding he is a perfect guy to keep.

I wrote that so long ago. Way before there were even rumors of Doc. Obviously Doc is one of if not THE best defensive coach, so I'm not worried about getting a defensive AC. I like Gentry for us.

I wasn't high on Gentry, but will support it. He could definitely help to lure Jermaine O'neal here who could really help with developing DJ and Blake. I would also think he can help on the offensive side of the ball too.

Good point.O'neal played for Gentry last year and with Doc the season before.I think he is the perfect vet big to bring in for DJ and Blake.Won't ask for much money and can still play.

I am happy with Gentry. He is known to be a motivator and looked upon as father figure. Not elite head coach caliber but I think he'll be a great assistant coach.

@paulcoro: Former #Suns coach Alvin Gentry agreed to a 3-year deal to become the Clippers' associate head coach with Doc Rivers & will run the offense.

KEVIN DING ‏@KevinDing 23m

Here's a new one: Clippers outbid Lakers so far in $ that it was an easy decision for Alvin Gentry to join Doc Rivers over D'Antoni.

Oh the times they keep on a changing.
