The Clippers are still searching for another piece to add to their roster and they are doing it with a series of 10 day contracts. After letting Luke Jackson and Alvin Williams expire, they signed the 14 year veteran Doug Christie for 10 days and he will join the team immediately. Even though Doug averaged 11 PPG and 4 RPG with 3.6 assists, he is known as being an excellent athlete who plays tough nose defense. He would possibly play SG and SF for the Clippers off the bench. But if he stays and plays well, he possibly could even start the way Q does with Maggette coming off the bench. More likely he is insurance in case Maggette or Cat gets injured. Doug started with the Lakers and played for a long time for Sacramento before playing sparingly with Dallas last season.

Sounds like he's the more serious of the three 10 day's we've got this year. Hopefully Dunleavy uses him.

Who's next, Latrell Sprewell??

Well, it's not a bad signing. It's not going to make or break the team, and being that he is defense oriented, it would be to Dumbleavy's liking.

So he may get some playing time. But I am still disappointed that Dumbleavy doesn't bring in Singletn from time to time for that "spark" of energy. Kaman is just not getting it done.

But I am still pushing for that perimeter shooter a la Mike Miller, Ray Allen

i like the move, and im glad the clips are actually trying, instead of just sitting around and waiting for things to get better. i do agree with 714 that we need to play singleton more often, and who knows, sprewell might be back, i think he needs money after being sued for 200 million. but bottom line is, we need to trade cat and get MIKE MILLER! i doubt a straight up deal would be made, we would have to provide some incentives, but it seems like jerry west wants draft picks, and i dont kno if that would be worth it.

What about a proposal of Mobley, and Ewing??

they get a veteran shooter, and a young guard.

Hell if we are feeling lucky, throw in Tim Thomas as a partying gift !!!

Latrell Sprewell deserves whatever comes to him ever since he made that statement he can't feed his kids. Now he's getting sued for 200 million.

Signing Doug Christie isn't so bad. I hated his game in Sac-town because he was so effective against the streaking Lakers. He played 2 minutes against the Bulls tonight and we won; that says something.

However, I don't like the front office idea of hiring players to ten-day contracts. The thought of signing a limited contract isn't bad in it of itself, I just wish they gave the playing time to players who need it, mainly Ewing and Singleton. Those short term minutes could be used in the long term growth of these two Clippers. I think they're the ones who deserve it.

I'm half and half on the 10 day contract thing. Yes it's safe, but it also doesnt give the player much of a chance to contribute. I agree. Ewing and Singelton are humble players but they gotta feel jipped when they get no minutes and the new/old guy gets to play right away.

Yeah I remember when Christie used to give the Lakers major headaches. The Lakers had quite the challenges back when they were competing for rings.

Oh yeah I agree- I wonder what must be going through Ewing and Singleton's minds. Maybe after Raja Bell shot from the playoffs Dunleavy has lost faith in Ewing's D.

I think 10 day contracts are okay if the Clippers are having trouble getting enough guys for 5 on 5 during scrimmages during practice. But yeah it sucks that the 10 day contract guy gets the nod over existing bench guys who we know got game.

I think they will end up signing him, because he is a veteran, he's a defender, he's long, and they will need that long defender in the long run when we play division rivals, and against the LA KOBE's.

He just has to get in game shape.

The only thing with Singleton is he is only in his 2nd year, and Dumbleavy feels he is not ready just yet.

But who was that Livingston guy last night!!

Give me more of that.

P.S. There was another Tim Thomas sighting! I hope they keep putting it together, I don't like teasers.

You gotta love Miguel's writing skills. It's funny and enjoyable. I'm sure there isn't any one of us who doesn't know what Miguel is trying to say. He english skills are considerably better than my spanish, which I call "Gringo," half english, half spanish. Good work Miguel. I think Doug Christie could bring something to the table if he is in shape and stays healthy. I only wonder that if he is just a duplication of Q. Q is our defensive stopper who is not relied upon to score. But ever since the playoffs last year, Q's shooting has vastly improved and defenses no longer back off on him. If they do they get burned. Q already takes minutes away from Maggette. So I am now in the camp of going back to bringing in another shooter by not trading Maggette, but by trading one of our second tier players, Rebraca's contract, and one of our valuable first round picks to get a 3 point shooter. We actually do not need another Q, do not need Christie. And if one of our scorers gets hurt, we would need another scorer, not a defensive guy. What say you?

I have a feeling Christie and Cassell would work well together. Put Maggette in at SF with those two and just use Mobley and Ross together and it should work.
