Posted this article in Doc thread but Hill's class and last act of good will towards our franchise deserves it's own attention.

In fact, according to a source close to Rivers, he was getting pulled hard in different directions last week as the Celtics and Clippers were largely wasting time in negotiations that should have taken all of an hour.

On one hand, Doc had coaching types telling him he had to jump at the opportunity to coach a team that is poised to take a giant step forward into the elite. You don't pass up the chance to coach Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, he was told.

Then there were other voices, some of them in his head, telling him he would be crazy to step into the asylum that has been the Clippers over the years. He was told that if he did tread into Donald's den, he should lead with his lawyer. And so he has done.

But the critical voice that convinced him to follow the shiny object in the California sun was that of a former pupil. According to an involved source, it was Grant Hill who made the case for the Clippers, the team with which he spent his final season this past year. Hill, whose injuries threw a wrench in his and Rivers' hopes when the two were with the Magic, told Doc to forget his old notions about the Clippers.

"He raved about how things were being run and how they were treating their players," said the source. "He talked about the new practice facility they have out there and the guys on the team, and he thought this could be a really good situation.

"What he said made a real difference."

Grant Hill pulling through in the Clutch. See, Hill was good for us in the post season. Just not the post season I was originally thinking of.

Thank you Grant Hill!

One of the memorable moments of him was the game at New York. Melo was destroying everyone in the first 3 quarters I believe, but Hill shut him down in the 4th and we won!

I read this earlier. I was disappointed that he only played for us once, but I'm now glad that he was able to leave his mark with the Clippers in a different way.

Grant Hill has to be the single most convincing person that could've possibly vouched for the Clippers. Wow, what a break. It sounds like Hill had a good experience last season (as good as it could've been considering...). I was hoping he could end it all with a ring or something...

Let mods do their job. Or at least read the explanation before telling mods what to do.

Your explanation is pointless. You made the same point in the other thread.

I'm giving you an official warning for baiting. No need to pick fights or start drama. This is a peaceful thread to honor a legend.

thumbleft pirate. It just feels awkward to have people complain about the thread when it's such a positive, deserving one. What Grant did is surprising and a HUGE deal to me. Clippers fans should be happy and grateful for this (I think almost all of them are)! Figured I'd give Grant his own spotlight Razz .

You know Grant Hill has done more for them team off the court which isn't a bad thing, picking the clippers over the lakers to make a last run, most likely helping out the players, and of course the recruiting all in the span of a season, good show I hope he stays around the NBA somehow.

Grant Hill could be good at almost any job in the NBA, except for maybe being a trainer.

Maybe Grant hill would reconsider playing 1 more year under Doc. I don't think he should leave the way he did. Now he would truly have a shot at a title!

If Doc needed convincing this isn't the same old Clippers or ANYONE in the NBA after the last few years, PLUS the fact that Lamar Odom enjoyed his time here after giving us the absolute shaft more than a decade ago then people are complete idiots.
