Sadly that is probably right. It's the msnbc and fox business model. Completely biased, personal, shock value

Very true, we see it from all their guys: Skip Bayless, Colin Cowherd, Mason and Ireland. Hell, even the LA Times is starting to get that way with their employment of TJ Simmers

The comments here are funny. So effin what?! Newsflash! Not everyone loves our Clippers and sending love letters to Doc. Let him say what thinks because thats his reality. Doc should've just shut his trap. Its almost like he's saying "oh yeah. Well your an idiot". Is Doc still in 3rd grade? Simmons may have been correct in his assestment but he did come across as a hater. At least he was honest.

why are you on a CTB smear campaign? i wanted Doc before the signing, was thrilled when he was signed, and am happy he's our current coach. all i did was agree with simmons w/ the idea that doc quit on the celtics.

but yea, bill step over the line. lost his composure, big time.

Bill Simmons is wrong here. The Celtics are gonna tank, and to be paying a top caliber coach 7 million to lose games is ridiculous. And Doc Rivers didn't want any part of it which is understandable. They gave him an option to go to Clippers, and he took it because he felt like atleast they're getting something for him and well you just can't pass on coaching Blake and Chris Paul. It was a mutual agreement between the Doc and Celtics.

The whole "on and off deal" didn't help either and probably led to more confusions. I think when he said I'm coming back to coach Celtics next year, was just him trying to help Celtics have leverage. Celtics tried to show that "they need us more than we need them," which then again shows Doc's loyalty to boston. Although I see where Bill Simmons is coming from. Doc is trying to sugar coat his reason for leaving which is basically "I don't want to have to coach a team that is rebuilding." But Bill is disregarding that it was a mutual agreement though.

Only if Danny Ainge can come out say we're tanking next season and we're not going to spend 7 million for a coach, but ofcourse they won't say that. Saying we're trying to lose just doesn't right.

Yeah, you don't think what Simmons said on national TV deserved a response? Well, obviously Simmons' bosses thought Doc deserved a rebuttal, otherwise, they wouldn't have put him on TV to defend himself. Oh, and while you think Doc should have kept his trap shut, at least he was honest and ballsy to put that moron in his place. Seems like his co-hosts were also putting him in his place all night too.

No smear campaign intended. More just saying you really seem to have been negative on the board since we drafted Blake and especially since getting cp3. You used to be one of the most positive guys on here.

I also did think you didn't like rivers based on the posts I have seen recently. But hey that's cool if you are behind rivers. I am stoked we were a me to pick him up.

Wow, I fully agree with Clipper Joe! What is the world coming to??? Jesus is coming back soon.

Honestly, I agree with this entire post. Why the hell is Simmons making the NBA draft about how HE feels about a coach when its about new players. He made the NBA Draft about him. He's getting full of himself since he's been on national TV.

Look I might be in the minority, but as clippers fans we should be use to that. I actually like Simmons most of the time, because he usually speaks as a passionate fan. It might be biased and one sided, but at least he seems to watch more games than the other analysts in my opinion (not just the games they are covering). I might not agree with him half the time, but its nice to have an opinion of someone who hasn't played and not skips cuz I hate that guy.

Did he lose his cool, yeah imagine if one of us were up there when brand left us. I don't think this is the same and I do believe that it was a win/win for both teams. It is like when you are with a girl and you know its not going to work out, so you break up with them. It still sucks, especially for the week that you go without getting a new girl. He'll be over it a little more when he gets a new coach, just like us when we picked up zbo.

I can't stand Simmons, personally. Doesn't matter if he's saying good or bad things about the franchise/team.

He always relishes saying anything negative about anyone in the NBA, like a nerdy teacher's pet who's been allowed to help teacher grade the cool kids' papers. He gets that slimy little grin on his face when he gets to trash the guys who are the best in the world at what he would love to be able to do, but can't.

Doc had his opportunity to answer the allegations and he did so. But once is enough, Doc... let your 17-year-old kid carry the torch from here on out. Twitter-wars are the domain of of adolescents and wannabees like Simmons. They're beneath a man of Doc's standing.

Seems to me like Ainge admitting that "Doc and KG are our biggest trade chips" and actually approaching Doc about the Clips job pretty much negates any talk of "abandonment".

Simmons is a critic, is he supposed to ask you what you want to hear?

There are plenty of critics who say the (often true) things players and their fans don't want to hear, but to me, it seems like Simmons actually gets a boner saying them.

His whole demeanor changes when the round table talk switches from how well the winning team is playing to who isn't stepping up for the losing team.

The guy is a walking definition of schadenfreude.

Lol, he gets paid to be an analyst not a critic. I don't hear Michael Wibon and Jalen Rose talking trash every chance they get, and that's why they are the best at what they do.

I can strictly talk trash on the Lakers and do what Simmons does for people he doesn't like for ESPN for half the price, mainly because I already talk trash on the Lakers.

I see your point cleepers, cuz when you described simmons you also described of what I think of skip (I hate that guy, even when I agree with him).

Its amazing that some of these guys get paid for this, especially the ones that don't bring a past experience with them other than writing. I would think that more than half of us sports fans could do the same and be happy with probably half their salary.

I agree, he is a critic on National TV. I have no problem with that. What i have a big problem with is us having to hear him talk about his Celtic fandom, even when the team isn't playing. It seems that that's all he wants to talk about and it annoys the hell out of me. He wants to be a Celtics fan first? Go find a local Beantown beat! That's where his audience is at.

Last thing I'll say on this. Simmons is well known to be a CELTICS fan first and then a CLIPPER Fan second. And Boston fans were questioning his Celtic Loyalty so he went overboard on this and bashed DOC to show Boston what a true fan he is when in fact, he came off looking like such a hater. I guarantee this will come to make him look like a hypocrite when he quits... errr... leaves ESPN bc he can't handle being on TV. He's a great writer. But he's insecure on TV. You can tell by the way he always leans forward and takes himself so seriously on TV. Wilbon, Magic, Jalen sit straight up. Simmons is always leaning forward and gets mad. Get over it Bill. Calling DOC out as a quitter just so you can look like a hero to Boston fans and show what a Boston fan you are? CRYSTAL CLEAR you have a personal agenda and are making it about you.

He is not and has never been a fan of the clippers outside of using them as the butt of his jokes. He is a fake fan and often has said how he buys clippers tix because its a cheap way to watch other teams
