Reggie is off the charts for a rookie D League guy. This is why you draft NBA ready players who played 3-4 years in college. He's going to contribute IMMEDIATELY if he gets burn.

Samuels in the best shape of his life. He always looked chubby but he looks buff as heck now.

Good game clincher steal by Bullock.... Wayans did a good job coming back in and pacing the game. Davies needs to play more with starters.

Bullock, Samuels, Wayns, Summers were the top 4 players in my mind before the game and after the game it's clear they have the most game. Davies has a nice touch too.

I agree those 4 looked good.Depending on how the other games play out I would invite Samuels and Wayns to training camp.I like Summers but we have enough wing players,we need big guys and another PG wouldn't hurt.Samuels needs to work on his free throws.1-6 from the line is rough but I liked his hustle and size.

I didn't get a chance to watch the game, just followed the play by play online. I'm glad Bullock and Wayns played well! Summers did well also but he was cut by us...

Samardo Samuels reminds me of Big baby davis..similar body type..if he can hit a consistent 15 footer like big baby we might have a steal folks but i will take samuels over blair right now...there is a reaon why blair couldnt land a spot in SA rotation that already lacked rebounders

Is this different from the summer league in the Orlando training facility?

Summer league coaches will usually run the same sets that the teams head coach would run so they can see how the players would fit while running the same stuff the actual team runs.

I wouldn't make conclusions from summer league, and especially from one game. Samuels could play terrible next game, then what? In his 109 NBA games he averages 7.7 rebs/36, has a .497 TS%, and I don't remember him being a good defender. So he would have had to improve to be worth giving a spot on the team, and that can't be seen from one summer league game.

None of those guys are making the team, except for Bullock.

I'm watching the game now. I'm hearing Reggie Miller contemplating "if Blake can become a player who commands double teams..." the Clippers will be great. Um, Blake is already getting doubled. That's one of the reasons we're stoked we got some more people who can score. Still, nobody doubts the importance of Blake's progress.

I can see Wayns making the team.Collison has a team option for next year so Clippers might want to keep Wayns around to see how he progresses.Davies also has a shot but I am not sure the Clippers keep him.

I'm intrigued by Doc talking about having Blake play at the elbow. I also find it interesting that he wants him to face up mostly and LESS back to the basket.

Dang. Samuels was +17 in this game. I love his hard work! 9 boards is great...although 7 of those were offensive. 1-6 on the FT line...we don't need a lot of those.

Bullock is so smooth. By the way, Reggie had 3 blocks? Crazy!

I saw some nice blocks by Davies...he didn't get a lot of playing time. So I'm interested in seeing how Davies plays throughout.

Overall I like the advice Kerr and Miller are giving about Blake in this commentary. It's fair and respectful. Nice to hear something constructive about Blake instead of the crap we've been hearing lately.

Sorry...I'm still watching the game later than everyone else so that's why I'm commenting about all this now. lol

Damn didn't get to watch it. Did How was Bullock? I see he had 18 points but I was expecting more rebounds.

that actually sounds like a good idea. you play Blake at the elbows and have him set high screens for CP or whoever. BG is pretty skilled at beating his man off the dribble. in addition, placing him at the elbows can give him looks to pass to shooters and cutters. It gives him and DJ a bit of floor spacing rather than clogging the paint. This would be beneficial IF DJ improves his rebounding. also, DJ can set off ball screens for baseline cuts and corner 3's.

Bullock looked good. He had a hard time chasing around the smaller John Jenkins but still made hustle plays. He jumper was smooth and looked like he knew what to do in the offense, being a catch and shoot guy

Yeah I'm kinda digging it. Kerr and Miller are right about Blake needing to just shoot without hesitation...and the elbow is a very nice place to shoot some bankers!

That is interesting, but Blake is actually significantly better with his back to the basket than facing up, but if his jumper improves a lot it will help his face up game.

He has some bad habits as a face-up guy and is a bit turnover prone when he does.

Yeah, I don't think they'll have him completely abandon his back to the basket moves, especially when DJ is on the bench. But with DJ down low, they will have Blake facing up at the elbow, giving him a little more room to maneuver and survey than when he's at the block or baseline.

Either way, it's no doubt a work in progress.

Not a bad read for a 16 y.o. writer. Wonder if bullock will get any time.

During the season it may be tough sledding early on. The 2 and 3 spots are pretty deep with Reddick/Dudley/JCross/Barnes/Willie all in front of him at the moment. Bullock will eventually get going. Hopefully he can take advantage of having all these good professionals around him early on in his career. I think this is a great situation for him to learn, grow, and hit the ground running when it's his time.

he had about 3 blocks as well. 2 three pointers made, not bad for his first summer league game. My wife and i are going to sundays game, so i will watch him first hand and let you guys know what i see.

@SteveKerrTNT: Day 1 standout at NBA summer league for me: Reggie Bullock. Versatile, big wing defender with unlimited 3 point range. Good pick for clips.

I think I trust Kerr's opinion on shooting. Lol this is a huge compliment.

Yeah I remember Doc saying that during the game- wonder if that whole conversation he had with Jamal didn't sit too well, and hence the hints of unhappiness.

Good post- repped!

Yeah, Bullock was extremely well rounded and looked like he can be in this league for a long time. His best attribute is that he knows he's not a star player and he wants to be the best role player possible. He's perfect for our team.

Bullock looked great. Best player on the court. If he's going to shoot like that, we have a great problem on our hands next season in trying to find minutes for all these gunners on the wing...Could turn into a trade of one of the vets like Crawford or Redick if he proves he can perform on a nightly basis. All of a sudden we have a guy making near the minimum for the next 4 years and can turn one of the veteran wings into a veteran big at the deadline.

Too bad Davies didn't do anything...It's tough to shine in SL for bigs.

Although if Samuels is gonna go off like that every game, I'd love to have that energy as emergency big this season.
