So in the past two years, we have depth at the PG position with Bled, Mo, and Chauncey. But now those three are gone. Chris Paul is literally our only PG right now. Who is available on the market? Let's face it, CP3 will miss at least 6 games a season so we are gonna need a solid backup.

Rodrigue Beaubois. Our team has enough ball handlers, so I think an energy guy like Beaubois would work.

I'd kiss a frog to sign someone like Earl Watson. He brings the ball up, passes well and that's it. Nothing fancy but he gets the job done and does it well.

I like Dooling. He is gritty, can shoot, can set up his teamates, can play both the 1 and 2,brings some leadership, used to play for Doc,won't demand big minutes, and most importantly can probably be had for cheap.I think we should sign him to the vet min and keep Wayns around.

I think this is a good situation to bring in a younger guy with potential that hasn't panned out yet, someone like a John Lucas or a Toney Douglas. We have a lot of options out there.

I too thought the same thing but in the "we traded them" thread no one seems to care we have one PG and one that has played in what, less games then I have fingers (and maybe minutes too). Unless Jamal is now a PG.

I like toney douglas, a. Brooks, i actually like livingston depending on who else we sign. Collison would be ideal but don't think he will take min. I wouldn't mind augustin or beaubois. There is a few options out there no need to panick just yet. I'm not sure i would be really opposed to w. Green playing pg as a back up if needed if you have another ball handler g. Hill could of been useful.

There's some good options out there for a back up PG. I like Gary Neal but he's restricted and I doubt the Spurs let him go unless a team over pays for him.

Neal is as much of a PG as Randy Foye is nowadays.

Toney Douglas! Not much of a "true" PG, but he's a good and aggressive defender and he can shoot the ball.

I wouldn't mind Shaun Livingston as he will be on with Jamal.

Does everyone else see Jamal fitting a little weirdly on the team now though? Redick will probably get about 28 MPG, leaving 20 MPG for Jamal, will he be content?

I don't want him at backup PG, and neither does he. He can't play SF, well, he shouldn't, and I would like Dudley to see about 30 MPG there. Hmm...I guess we'll see.

I mentioned this in the other thread but JJ supposedly can play PG so we could just have him get some minutes with the second unit.

36 min - Paul, 32 min - Redick, 28 min - Crawford.

But I like your suggestion of Douglas, good shooter/defender. I'm fine with someone like Keyon Dooling or Sebastian Telfair just as emergency backups.

i was thinking tha too. J.J. really improved his ball handling and passing. He was averaging 5.0 assists/36 with Orlando before they traded him and only 2.4 turnovers/36.

Douglas would be nice, I have no clue what the market on him is

Wayns didn't enough time to showcase what he can do. Great option and very cheap. our second unit with Wayns would be sick he is a natural PG. Hopefully he is at summer league the wife and i will get to go watch one game while in Vegas

Udrih, telfair, augustin, livingston are all upgrades over Wayns and will be pretty cheap. You can't let Wayns play that many minutes, he hasn't shown enough yet.

Baron wouldn't ever come back here.

Pmb- it is going to be hard to let him show anything without minutes, but it is risky to have him as the main back up. It will be hard to give wayns minutes if we get the wrong pg. I think livingston could work out and would be a professional like w. Green about it. It would be nice to be able to play with rotations without worrying about hurting egos.

As long as it is a productive guy who isn't wanting more minutes. The player has to know they are backing up Chris Paul and that their minutes will be limited, and cheer their heads off on the bench when the aren't getting to play.
