Brad Turner via Twitter:

Matt Barnes has agreed to a 3 year, deal worth between $9-$11 million to remain w/Clippers. The first two years are guaranteed, sources say.

If we get Jermaine O'neal or brand this will be a really solid title contender in my opinion.

Welcome Back Barnes!

We might go with plan b and just sign veteran bigs who want to come to a contender like jermaine o'neal and Kmart. If our back up bigs consist of Kmart o'neal and Hollins, I would be pretty satisfied

More recent tweets reporting $9m-$11m deal, first 2 years guaranteed.

As for Landry I'd like to believe we're out of the running now. I know he'd consider a haircut to be on a contending team but a $2M/year deal? Doubt it.

Only 2 years is guaranteed, not a bad deal. I'm guessing Landry is asking for more then the MLE and is out of the price range.

Okay good news. Only first two years guaranteed and Clippers now turning all attention to using remaining 2 mill a year of MLE towards a quality big. Brand, JO etc and ill be happy even without Landry. Brand owes our organization, ill give him a shot to redeem himself and be a part of our first title. Clippers made right move rewarding Barnes because he was fantastic last year and is now super close to CP, DJ and Blake. Plus with him on team don't gotta worry about getting a new enforcer.

I'm not high on Kmart, but his defense is pretty good. I'm not sure who else could be had for the min.

We needed this to sure up depth on wings more than a big, imo.

Great, Barnes will be important. Under Rivers he will cut more and shoot less threes.

Nice- great to have Matt Barnes back! He definitely deserved a raise, although now the MLE is pretty much 2/3 gone. No Landry now I suppose.

Finally something really valuable and if it is indeed a 3 year 9 mil. deal that makes it a real bargain for us. We are set at the 2 and 3, so let's get some serviceable center and possibly another PG...unless we consider relying on Crawford to cover CP3.

We have tons of depth on the wings, and none down low. I wanted Matt back but we messed up our priorities with this deal. Frontcourt depth was a huge issue and will continue to be.

Good rotation bigs are rarely found for the minimum, but here is hoping that we can attract someone that can play.

Great news!!! Barnes is the definition of a role player. Doesn't demand touches or minutes and fits well with our core. If Earl Clark is getting 4 mil/year and Josh McRoberts is getting 3 mil/year, I'm happy with the money we gave him. He earned this contract.

Awesome! Perfect guy to come in if Dudley has difficulties guarding his man. Assuming Dudley starts at SF.

Yeah, who will come in for DJ and Blake now? Damn.

Also, we still don't have a backup PG.

I'm more worried about getting a back up for DJ. I prefer Blake plays heavier minutes.

Well Dudley and Barnes can do some spot work as a 4, We definitely need someone to back up DJ with the rest of our money.

Matt Barnes definitely deserved a multi-year contract payday, but the Clippers should have prioritized signing another quality PF/center. Now the Clippers are relegated to the cast-off bigs who can sign for the veteran's minimum. Maybe Jermaine O'Neal could be signed...

3/4 mil a year is too much for matt. He's not exactly young and isn't great on offense by no means. Not happy about this. Matt should of been happy with 2 mil a year.

Glad he's back and he worked hard to get this deal. Was hoping it'd be for a little less but he can start at the 3 for us and he provides much needed insurance at the 2 and 3 spots, and keeps our bench strong.

Carl Landry couldn't really back up DJ either, way to undersized and defensively challenged. Jermaine O'neal has been my favorite from the get go another role player who won't mind mentoring our bigs, and not complaining about needing more minutes or touches. He's also well rounded and could provide good depth at both the 4 or 5 if needed. I wouldn't find throwing feelers out at birdman even though he says he's back with Miami. Plus if you bring him in you have a lot of other options at guys you could bring in to back up blake.

Antawn Jameson- all offense, but could be a good scoring threat off the bench (I know I hate poaching off the Lakers, but how cool is it if he has the same effect as Barnes).

Austin Daye- has range, don't really know the market for him.

Dejuan Blair- who knows if spurs want him back?

Tyler Hansbrough- probably to expensive.

Al Harrington- maybe could be enticed to chase a ring.

Lamar Odom- how I wish he could shoot again.

So right now we are looking at a team that is

PG - CP3

SG - Redick

SF - Dudley

PF - Griffin

C - DJ

6th Man - Crawford

Bench - Barnes

Bench - Green

Bench - Bullock

Still no clear word on Odom, Hollins or Billups, and still no clear backup PG, although the team could just run Crawford out at PG rather than go sign someone. I'm all for bringing back Odom, and either Turiaf or Hollins. I would however, prefer a better backup big man, maybe an older vet that would take a pay cut.

wow i would love it if we could somehow get jack. he has been balling the last couple years since he got that floater down. he now plays a lot like cp3 offensively and is a bigger pg.

to those complaining about spending too much on Barnes:

  1. he was arguably our 2nd best player last year and is getting a relatively cheap contract

  2. he's got too many priceless intangibles that no other wing could provide

  3. roster turnover is never a good thing.

  4. wanting to use that money for an undersized big like Landry wouldn't have solved the frontcourt woes.

re-signing Barnse was HUGE.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong,

In the PHX/MIL trade, couldn't we have just traded Caron & Bled for Dudley & a pick straight up, then signed JJ as a UFA. Therefore, not taking a sign & trade, therefore not getting hard capped!? Then we'd have room to sign Barnes & Landry? Could've gave Landry like $6 mil & given Barnes the TPE at $2.5 per?

I hope I'm wrong. Because that would be a huge frustrating mistake for our FO.
