Chris Tomasson ‏@christomasson 2m Hakeem Olajuwon is trying to convince Blake Griffin to work out with him this summer but not known yet if it will happen.

I'm sorry but if he would rather play around with DJ in Europe and passes this up for the 2nd year in a row, I'm going to start questioning his drive. Seriously he's had 3 wasted offseasons due to injury and lockout. He NEEDS anything like this to get an edge. He can easily afford it with his new fat contract and NEEDS to make the big leap this year if we are going to get anywhere.

So here's what I was told is the Hakeem Olajuwon workout schedule in Houston this summer in one file: Expected to work out unless there's a late hitch:

Dwight Howard Carmelo Anthony Amare Stoudemire Joakim Noah Greg Monroe Andre Drummond JaVale McGee Kenneth Faried

Looking like a solid chance these two will work out but still talking:

Kevin Durant Serge Ibaka

Hakeem is working on this guy to work out but not yet known if will:

Blake Griffin

It's sad that the supposed hardest worker in this list is the one having to be begged by Hakeem the last two summers.

He was working on his shooting last off season, as I recall. Which makes sense. I'd rather him work on that first, before working with Hakeem. However, I do believe it's time.

And I'm getting a little annoyed with people criticizing Blake going on vacation in Europe. Who the hell are we to crucify him for taking a well deserved vacation?

Why pay Hakeem $50k to learn the same post moves he's tought to other players. Just give McGee a cherry lollipop and have him teach Blake the same things.

Why does Hakeem need to convince him?Should be a no brainer for BG.Blake should try to convince Hakeem to work out with DJ also.I get Blake is trying to improve his jumper but he doesn't have great footwork in the post,so I think he should work with Hakeem.

Never criticized it. Just never want to hear that a player taking tons of vacation time isn't willing to meet with a post legend who's specifically called him out the last two years as somebody he wants to get his hands on and help. Blake's been traveling constantly and I'm okay with it but considering this needs to be his biggest year yet it worries me a little. The 4 offseasons prior, even with lockout and even with injuries he was in the gym nonstop from just a week or two after the season ended, until training camp. Haven't seen or heard the same this summer.

This needs to be his hardest working summer by far.

50k is chump change for a guy about to make like 17.5 mill next season. Sure Hakeem isn't the end all on post moves but if a legend wants to teach you this badly you LISTEN.

I'd rather him develop something of a shooting touch before learning back to the basket moves from Hakeem, many of which require a shooting touch....homie.

Sorry, but this makes no sense. His off season is exactly that. The Finals only just ended. Let the guy have some R and R. We know he'll be back in the gym soon. Hopefully with Hakeem.

Like I said... my issue isn't traveling, never mentioned it being a problem. I just know he's with a lazy player in DJ who is bound to distract him for most of the summer. He needs to take Hakeem up on this.

If Blake doesn't accept this I will be very disappointed in him. He has the potential to be one of the best PF in the history of the game and yet he won't accept help from one of the greatest players to have ever play the game? Dude is clearly spending way too much time in the tv studio.

Why don't the Clippers just hire Hakeem as a special assistant coach? We need him to be with Blake and DJ all season, not just one month in the summer or however long it is.

Can't compare Olowokandi to Blake. Kandi man was the laziest, most idiotically stubborn player in franchise history.

Blake would be foolish not to take advantage of this golden opportunity to get better in the post. Should he decline this offer DeAndre should be knocking down Dream's door for these lessons. lol

Razz. DJ at least seems to have good intentions despite his lack of fire. Olowokandi literally did not give a single F.

I'll agree DJ's laziness isn't as bad as Kandi Man's, but that's not saying much.

You have no idea what I'm talking about. Post play isn't always about layups and dunks. It's about an assortment of jump hooks and even baseline turnaround jumpers. Scoring in ways that won't wear and tear the body. All things Hakeem will teach him. And YES, I want him to be more comfortable developing a some semblance of a shooting touch to get ready for Hakeem. I feel he's done that. Now, before his 4th season, he should be ready.

Exactly, what was Hakeem's most famous move? The Dream Shake!

It wasn't a layup or a dunk, it was a pump fake-to turn around fade away. If Blake can learn a version of the Dream Shake he will be unstoppable.

Hakeem will do wonder not just for his footwork, but also for Blake's decision making and counter moves.

I trust that if Blake isn't going, it isn't because he's being lazy. He was injured one year and the lockout was the other ear which didn't allow teams to interact with players and therefore the Clippers couldn't assign Blake to Hakeem. I'm not worried about him.

It's always good to take time off. You have to balance it out, can't just work all the time. People questioning Blake's work ethic is embarrassing.

Didn't you know? NBA players aren't supposed to unwind. Day 1 of the new season is apparently after the Heat have celebrated their victory. Blake is supposed to be in the gym RIGHT NOW working on all his weaknesses. He'll have time to go to Europe when he's 40 and walking on bad knees.

Yeah, i think Blake will takecare of his offseason on his own (whether that be with hakeem or not is of little importance, how many times has dwight worked with the dream). Personally i think some of us might be trippin just a bit, the season just ended. We just entered the offseason and have been on fire and we want it to continue. Guys he hasn't earned his rep by being lazy. i think dj is even getting a bad rap too, we were all impressed with his offseason work last year. How about we let things play out a little bit more before we jump off the edge. Personally i think he shows all of them the same things that most guys of his stature could show him. Personally i think it would be better for the clippers to get a legendary big man to come work with our bigs. A david robinson or kareem or alonzo mourning or another quality big man hired like bob thate to work with them alone. Not a mercenary with strong affiliations to a strong competitor, and i think hakeem is.

I think that Blake and any other player needs to jump on the chance to work with retired vets because they've been through it all and are in a place of humble-ism, they understand their time has come and gone and just want to help out the present and future of the NBA. I think that Griffin is going to take full advantage of this camp and come back ready to go all the way this coming season.

That's why Kobe and Jordan are above the rest cause their drive and work ethic are above the rest.

Tm Duncan spent the entire summer after his rookie yr working on his game with the admiral.

Didn't James worked on his post up game after losing to the mavs?

No one is asking Blake to play ball 24/7 but why does Hakeem have to beg Blake to come and work on his game?

Doesn't answer why Hakeem has to convince Blake. Shouldn't he take initiative. This is the 2nd yr in a row that Blake conveniently hurt himself in the playoff after getting embarrassed in the post
