Repped High Quality Post

Set it to DVR the next hour to Sportscenter on ESPN. I guess Blake Griffin just went on there and said he's tired of being called soft and will fight anybody who wants it. At least that's the Twitter paraphrasing I saw. It will be on again in 40 minutes, 9:15 Pacific time about.

Had it in title, accidentally edited it out, now put it back in. Sportscenter at 9:25 ish it should be back on. He had an interview on ESPN specifically addressing the soft thing people have been attacking him about.

Gah pretty uneventful. Talked about Doc more than fighting. All he said about fighting was nobody has come and challenged him off the court that calls him soft.

He didn't say nobody has challenged him, I thought he said if anybody were to challenge his toughness, he'd be happy to oblige, but off the court.

I really don't understand what people want Blake to do. He's not a Safety or LineBacker in the NFL that can take your head off just because you called him soft. Blake just needs to let his plays do the talking. He just needs to improve his game even more so he can play consistently and shut people up.

He said the right things in my opinion. I rather have a PF that concentrates on his game than a player worrying about if he's being called soft and feeling like he has to improve it by getting suspended. Getting suspended hurts your team. It's almost the same as starting a game but stinking it up, and whenever a player does that, the fans want their heads.

It's just Stephen A Smith giving a couple of D-bags too much press...unfortunately at Blake's expense.

They showed it again, and this time I noticed he mentioned, "I don't want to get suspended". Getting suspended hurts your team. It's almost the same as starting a game but stinking it up, and whenever a player does that, the fans want their heads.

The whole "soft" thing is just a way for nba players and their fans to cope with the fact Blake is continually posterizing them to the point of embarrassment.

Blake is not soft at all, but he might need to retaliate and take a suspension to send a message to players that he won't put up with the cheap shots anymore. Blake has a laid back demeanor but he doesn't shy away from contact and he's constantly banging in the paint so I definitely don't think he's soft at all.

Players need to just play. We're talking about the NBA here, where players that flop are rewarded more than a player that will "retaliate and take a suspension to send a message". Why hurt your team by missing games? Dirty players will play dirty no matter what you do.

If a player knows they can get one of the team's best players suspended, they'd probably provoke him more.

Blake's game changed the moment he stopped being the first option. He is not soft in any aspect of his game, but he needs to be more assertive on defense and hit someone with an elbow ''accidentally'' from time to time so everybody, who thinks he is soft shut up!

Who cares about the talks. Hard fouls doesn't make you tough... I rather people say Blake is soft than a dirty player.

I like his mindset now, how he just wants to get better. Blake can smile all game long, dishing out compliments, shaking hands, as long as he's scoring points and grabbing rebounds.

Stephen A actually giving good stuff on this on First Take. He's basically saying he's not trying to disrespect Blake and he knows how strong and macho Blake is... he just means Blake needs to be more aggressive. He said Blake will and can change but needs to stop folding when teams get physical with him. So again they don't mean physical as in a fight fight.. they more mean he needs to stop getting passive and getting "punked". He needs to pull a Duncan and just become so damn good that teams give up on messing with him.

Skip did his usual piss on Griffin thing. Good thing is both guys think Doc is the best coach in the game and said they guarantee Doc is going to find the "dog" within Griffin this year.

The problem is they seem to imply that getting punked affects Blake's play. I take issue with this. In fact, I've cited examples where Blake has actually answered back with his game when players have taken cheap shots. Yet, there's nobody on the show who's actually watched enough Clipper games to bring this up. Also there's nobody there to point out that Blake is initiating a lot of this physical contact which pisses these players off even more. The misperception is frustrating.

I'm as big of a Blake fan as you probably and it DOES affect his play man. When has he been cheapshoted and continued playing at the same level? Every time he gets into a scuffle, gets flagrantly fouled his game gets completely thrown out of wack. I have yet to see a game where he had drama and proceeded to dominate the game. Skip and Stephen ARE correct that when you rough Blake up he mentally gets taken out of the game.

I may not agree with all of the criticism but this one is definitely true. He needs to start getting MORE motivated when roughed up, not less.

Of course they're correct, Blake is a mental midget. But I don't like how they keep saying stuff. Almost trying to force Blake to act like a thug. Randolph is clearly jealous of Blake. He replaced him in LA and usually makes the Alal Star team and all nba team over him. Randolph was classless at the end of that series. And he kept throwing shots vs OKC by pumping up Perk and Ibaka and putting down Blake.

I too think he should've reacted to Randolph if he said all those things. He had aessed up anlle, so maybe that was the reason. He had way too many games scoring under 20pts last yr. That really needs to change.

No biggie. I'll repeat myself.

I mentioned a college game where some dude from Morgan State used a wrestling move to flip Blake and Blake dropped 26 and 12 against them.

I mentioned the back to back game against Sacramento, when Demarcus Cousins cheap shotted and challenged Blake all game in Sacramento, even challenging Blake to a fist fight. Blake hit 3 clutch baskets down the stretch, two were jumpers in Cousins face. Cousins called Blake an actor who belongs in Hollywood during the post game interview. The next day Blake drops 27 and 14 against Cousins in a blowout at LA.

I mentioned the first round of the 2012 playoffs against Memphis and Zach Randolph. Zach may have been coming off injury but he was just as physical and taking just as many cheap shots. Yet, before his knee sprain, Blake persevered and NOBODY was talking about this when the Clippers beat Memphis in the first round.

There have been cases where we don't see much of Blake in the 4th quarter, but I think that has more to do with CP3 and Vinny than it did from any intimidation by opposing players.

Unfortunately the only way to lose this perception is for Blake to knock somebody the eff out or if the Clippers win. Stephen A did say he is interviewing Paul today and will ask him about Blake. Hopefully Paul will have a different perspective on all this.

Blake should just say before our first game against Memphis that he hates them, and then go out there and drop 35 on them or something.

When you say "especially in the playoff" you mean this year's playoffs. And it's easy to say that when Blake's hampered by an ankle sprain in the middle of the series. Again, I cite last year's playoffs where he played much better...before that injury.

The injuries are a different matter. He needs to figure out a way to stay healthy in the post season.

Does anyone read my examples?

they claim ZBo was calling a Blake a p#$$ and b#tch to his face and he just sat on the bench. Guess he coulda ran out on the court like a wrestler and powerbombed him. I just remember ZBo and DJ yelling at each other. Maybe DJ was defending BG, he was sitting right next to him.

The problem is not whether Blake talks back or cheap-shots someone. His play becomes less aggressive once the physical play begins. Blake loves to SLAM-DUNK, but if you notice he does not even dunk hard if ZBO is in the game.

Why does he always conveniently get hurt when his game is being questioned? It's like a built in excuse. How about refine his game so he actually has a back up plan when he's not getting lobs. Part of him being injured I believe is that he panics when things aren't going his way and he tries to do something that he knows he can't.
