Well I am glad for Chauncey's sake but I am not sure that he is worth that. Fond memories count for something it seems.

what happened with the whole "ring chasing?" I guess Miami didn't want him. Oh well I'm happy for him, he's gonna retire as Piston just like Ben Wallace. Maybe they'll try get Rip and Tayshaun Prince too in the future. Not to mention, Rasheed is Piston's assistant coach right now.Still, 5+ million? he's a vet minimum guy.

Thank ya jeebus! Glad it's official he's not coming back. Had some good moments before the injury, but nothing much after coupled with a suspect attitude.

I don't want to be too hard on Chauncey. When we first got him, I was apprehensive about having 2 point guards starting, but I warmed to it. We even played pretty well with 2 generals out there. The ball was moving, very low turnover rate. Chauncey could hit an occasional shot and get to the line quite a bit.

Then he got injured and we definitely lost something. Randy Foye was pretty solid defensively. But his offense was sporadic and he turned the ball over at the worst time.

This year we get Willie Green to start until Chauncey comes back from injury and, even though we were winning and he's a great outside shooter, he wasn't very aggressive. I kept thinking, "Man, wait until we get Chauncey back! We'll be even better!"

But Chris Paul goes down and after a while we start to lose games. We have no floor general out there. You know who could help? Chauncey! How much longer is that guy going to sit on the bench? If we ever needed Chauncey, it's while Paul is nursing an injury!

Finally Chauncey (and everyone else) comes back from injury just before the All Star break and we end on a nice run. Chauncey looks good. After the break everybody looks a bit rusty. We look like a slightly better than mediocre team and Chauncey plays poorly the whole time. It dawns on many of us that this team was actually better with Willie Green starting. He's healthier, he's a better defender, better shooter and legit SG. We start calling for Vinny to make a change.

Chauncey gets injured again and we get what we want. Willie starts. He actually plays BETTER than he's ever played as a Clipper. We look great as a team. We end the season on a win streak.

We go into the playoffs to not only start Chauncey, but we end up playing him in the 4th quarter of Game 6 and he cost us that game. One could say his start kept us from being at our best to begin with.

Honestly, he had so little impact as a player I don't consider him a former Clipper player. Maybe a former assistant coach! From what I understand his support on the bench was invaluable. But I don't have many fond memories of this team while Chauncey was on the court for us.

So it's been nice knowing you, Big Shot! Good luck in your last couple of years.

Chauncey didn't seem to me like he liked the Clippers! I'm glad he is gone but i believe his career is over! I remember in this years playoffs, the clippers had the ball down 4 or 6 with like 5 minutes left and Chauncey dribbles down the court to the wing and dribbles the ball iff the side of his leg! Wasted possession that could have put us down 2 with a chance to win and play game 7 at home! Chaunceys attitude seemed like he didn't care!! I lost all respect for Chauncey when he went of ESPNs First Take and basically dissed the Clippers and Blake Griffin!!!! He said he want to win and yet he goes to a lottery team! Congrats and Have A Nice Career Chauncey! Clippera don't need you when we have a guy like Willie Green who can produce

NO ill will for Chauncey and I wish him the best but you have to know when to go. You mind says you can still do it but your body starts to betray you and it is hard to accept. It is the worst in your 40s when you just know you can do things and the reality is,you can,but a lot slower then before and for an athlete that just has to be the pits.

Then you when get to be my age, waking up not dead is a great accomplishment that sets the stage for a great day.

That really made me laugh. I am in my 40's and play ball 3 times a week. I play with a guy in his 50's and after we finish our two hr game he sits there and quietly groans or maybe whimpers. Is that what I have to look forward to?

I think you are right about Chauncey.

My sentiments exactly--given his empty tank, the Pistons must have signed Billups primarily as a locker room leader, and even then $5 million for 2 years seems excessive.

A healthy Chauncey starting on a Pistons team can easily average 15/8 or more.

Glad Chauncey is gone, just not sure what the Pistons plan to do with Chauncey considering they have Knight, Stuckey and they plan to re-sign Will Bynum. Not to mention Khris Middleton is basically a 2 guard as well. Maybe they just want to bring back the guys that helped win them a ring back in what, 03, 04? If I had to end my career and I were him, Detroit or Denver is where I'd like to go. Least he can be at a place he calls "home" to wrap things up.

What I discovered when I turned 40 was slowly but surely every body part that was injured in my youth was starting to act up. My broken elbow, my smashed up ankles, parts I hurt (I played football for my sport until college, where I could have played but wanted to be a hippie instead) started reminding me of them.

When I turned 50 my dad sat me down to tell me his words of wisdom..,"Son, people in their 50s start dropping dead if they don't take care of themselves. Lot of heart attacks". I was like, shi*, thanks dad. But inside parts start to give out a bit (I got kidney cancer at 52,I blame my dad's wisdom) and other nonsense.

Trust me,take care of yourselves ( don't drink excessive and be careful with other types of substances if you get what I mean), you'll last longer.

But you won't be a great NBA player at 40 no matter who you think you are.

My 75 year old father-in-law's advice (he left us in his late 80s),never buy green bananas. You may not see them turn yellow.

I agree with your father in law but this is different now this " bananas" are over ripe and useless, if you will eat this the taste is already sour. and if you will display this in walmart nobody will buy it.

BTW I wish Chauncey can play at least half of the season for the Piston, but I doubt.

Thank you Detroit for taking Billups off our hands, stupid for taking him and giving him that kind of money, so glad that he's not returning. Towards the end of things he was complete trash and deserved 0.00 minutes. Goodbye Billups and good riddance. Good luck with your last two years, hope you can play and earn your money

No ill will towards Chauncey, but glad to see him leave. Never really thought he liked us, more the thought of playing with CP that excited him. With all that said think he is overestimating himself majorly. I just read this article over at http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/07/16/chauncey-billups-i-e xpect-to-start-at-point-guard-for-pistons/ and he says he expects to start. Whether they keep Knight or trade for Jennings, I don't see this working out in the Pistons favor.

I have love for Caron, Young, Reggie, Bledsoe and a few others that have been through here before them; but I have a feeling of indifference towards Chauncey. Really am just glad he is not here.

Added a poll- how many games do you guys think Chauncey Billups will play for the Pistons? And I'm not sure about him starting over Brandon Knight.

Granted he played out of position, but the dude sits out so many games. Is still given the starting SG position by Vinny only to produce pathetic numbers. Then costs us a win in Game 6 of this year's playoffs. And he still thinks he should be a starter in this league. Maybe he'll prove me wrong.

I just remember Chauncey sitting...and sitting...and sitting...and sitting...while our team struggled when CP3 went down to injury and we needed a leader out there. Good luck to a guy who was a decent Clippers assistant coach, not much of a Clipper player.

Chauncey is delusional, but I guess not as much as the Pistons for thinking he'll even contribute for that team. Although he's probably there to sell tickets more than on-court production.

Oh, and that was nice of him to take Drummond's number. Too bad he'll only be wearing it for about 12 games till he sits the rest of the season and demands a contract extension during the summer.

I didn't know he took Drummond's number, that's crazy. Drummond is that franchise's future, I know its cool to respect the history but Chauncey should really know his current status.

He thinks way too highly of himself. He is washed up but thinks he is still a starter or even a borderline star. Very delusional and a hypocrite too. He said that the team had to step up in the playoffs when he was the worst player on the court by far.

I really used to respect Billups but he is really in denial. Sometimes you just have to realize that you aren't that good anymore and accept a lesser role. Billups never did that and still wants the starting job which is ridiculous. After that travesty of a playoffs performance.... He should be embarrassed.

It kinda sucks living in Denver because of Billups. He is a home town hero and Denver fans get a little salty whenever I mention his mediocre performance in the playoffs. I'm not kidding when I say Billups is highly respected in Denver. He's up there with Elway.

I just wish I could of seen Billups face when we claimed him off waivers, and this was before the CP3 trade. I'm sure it made no sense to him at the time

Guys the funny thing is... If he starts as Point Guard he has to play against our Starting Point Guard!! We TOTALLY DOMINATE THAT BATTLE!!! Chauncey has no chance of guarding a quicker-younger Chris Paul!!!

Not to mention all those other younger, quicker PG's throughout the NBA. Westbrook, Irving, Wall, Rose, Parker and the list continues........ can Chauncey deal with any of them? I think not.

Well he was a great player in Denver and was the main reason why the Nuggets made it to the WCF. He is just completely washed up after that terrible injury he had two seasons ago. A ruptured Achilles can end careers.

I used to respect him when he was a Piston and Nuggets player but not anymore.
